    Bro seeing you do this brings back so many memories, as a kid in the 90's man I remember going to the card store picking up packs - couldn't swing the full boxes or whatever back then, this makes me want to go for it now

    I've been goin thru what I had from my childhood as well as full unopened sets I had. Needless to say I've got over 1000 cards in semi rigid sleeves to at least protect everything going forward. And just hoping submission prices come down a lil bit in the next year

    That Fleer Ultra Base at PSA 4 is ridiculous, that card looks least a 9. That grade shows how inconsistent grading process is. AI for grading is all ready here.

    So what happened to that graded 4 '93 ultra?

  • @GemRippers
    @GemRippers Год назад

    Haha we have pretty much the same story. After watching The Last Dance, I brought my bin of cards from back in the day out of hibernation (I stopped collecting in '93), as well as a near dozen milk crates filled w random cards mixed together, NOT sleeved at all. So, I Googled how to grade a card, w/ the thought of having like 30 MJs slabbed (altho I didn't know what that term even meant yet lol) for my man cave. The GOAT Special was send a min. 25 cards & pay half price which was $10. Talk about a deal... Like you, I really had no idea what I was doing, didn't clean them or anything. Well, FF 11 months & finally got em back. By that point I was grading 200+ cards a week for ppl, so needless to say I knew what type of grades to expect on my MJ sub!🤦‍♂ I actually have 3-4 of the 29 slabs left here at my shop. lol It def made for some great content tho, like yours did, as well. The link's below. Happy I came across this vid for many reasons, good stuff man! ruclips.net/video/h-j68RFIkeI/видео.html

    What your dad says was absolutely true and was still the case when I was a kid 10 to 15 years later. My dad use to give me money to get him a couple of packs of Alpines on a Saturday morning. Let me tell you money in the hand trumped cartoons on TV! Also absolutely true about DC being more popular than Marvel and it still was the case in the early 70's. The first Marvel comic I ever bought was when DC raised their price to 25 cents and Marvel still kept theirs at 15 cents for a while and then raised it to 20 cents. It was at that time that I sampled a few Marvels. The only one I cared for was Amazing Spider Man. I also collected pop bottles during this time and they were still 2 cents for a small and a nickel for a large so it took a lot more bottles to buy a 20 or 25 cent comic than a 12 or 15 cent one. I am still amazed how I didn't come down with some disease picking bottles out of trash cans in the park.

  • @erikthredd2628
    @erikthredd2628 2 года назад

    After watching your 89 card PSA sub then this one all I can say is CSG is trying waaayyy to hard to be thought of as "the toughest grader." The amount of 8-8.5's and under you got was just ridiculous compared to how clean these cards were with no visible flaws judging from what I saw in this video. Corners & edges looked sharp and centering was solid on most if not all. it was hard judging the surface of each with CSG doing an ass job by returning your cards covered in dust. Similar cards,condition-wise, were getting 9 & 10's from PSA at a time when most have thought that they've been slow to give out high grades,after seeing this I would want no part of CSG grading my cards. Between the "huge forehead" look with their label,graders trying to hard to be tough or clearly just NGAF at all, the one thing they had in their favor was their crystal clear slabs but shipping back cards that look like they spent the day at the beach just ruins it. Sorry man good luck with your next sub. You have an eye for subbing nice clean cards,just keep doing what you're doing.

  • @erikthredd2628
    @erikthredd2628 2 года назад

    Just going off what I could see you sent in some really clean cards,nothing really stood out flaw-wise other than a few being off centered like the early Finest cards (bird,MJ,Shaq). On those few that came back 4-5-6 I'd check for tiny creases on front & back,I think everyone eventually has a few slip by. I loved the Jordan E-X2001 & Emotion 9's you got,the eye appeal on both stands out in those slabs. Overall not a bad grading return at all especially at $9/cd, Good stuff!

      @DEZZNUTZ 1001 it was great year for Rc until penny kept getting injured. Lol. I remember Becketts hot hot list in mid 90's when penny finally over took Jordans #1 spot on the hot list. It was glorious , then cue the MCL, ACL, knee, toe, MCL, ACL, lol

    Good to see care dad took with his collection and left to you. I had read or had most of these DC issues in that time frame from older brothers and neighbors collections and later made my own large collection but kept only Superman and Legion titles from that time period that still have. The subscription titles were sent in mail folded in half and put in paper wrapper...seen a lot of these when heavily collecting. Good video story.
