Which Alumtone pickup type?
Its the regular one in the neck and then a deathbucker in the bridge
Did you solder this in yourself?
yup! I believe this was my first time soldering haha
Clean they sound kinda single coiley
I agree, i always felt they have a very glassy clean
i wonder if you could do a similar playlist for a bass guitar, or if you have any recommendations.
@@thebeasts i am putting together materials to start making content again so i can definitely add it to the list! But to help you in the meantime, bass guitar is just the 4 lower strings of guitar, EADG, you can still follow along with everything in these videos and ignore the highest 2 strings B and e. Let me know if that is enough to get you started or if you have any other questions!
@@CodyHarmon well, i'm really a drummer. but i'm learning bass and guitar at the same time. so i decided to go with the eadgcf tuning. if you can throw in anything on that too, i'd be grateful.
I’m waiting to get a Deathbucker/Alumitone humbucker put in my Schecter Hellraiser C-7 passive because of how the technology’s supposed to work and I’m tempted to get a regular Lace Alumitone set for my Les Paul myself because every demo I’ve heard with the Lace Alumitone pickups sounds top notch! I’ve often wondered if because the split coil function is supposed to retain the output and volume of the full humbucking function that maybe the coil split function would make it sound more akin to a P90 considering it doesn’t lose output, and I’ve always heard people say that P90’s can tend to be hotter than regular single coils, but idk bc I’ve seen some really high output single coil pickups in my time, and Lace even make some ridiculously high output single coil pickups theirselves, which I thought was pretty cool. I have a feeling I’ll be able to see soon enough because I’m getting a 5 way blade switch for coil split tones with my Schecter so I can replace the regular 3 way blade switch and not have to worry about pulling up on a pot to split the coils and I can’t wait to see the results!
p90 probably isn't a bad way to think about it, the splits felt more like it thinned it out a bit than a true single coil. I do believe it retains the output in split mode, the alumitones use transformers to step up their output which i would imagine is (relatively) easy to balance the 2 output modes
please keep adding videos to this playlist
Okay! Ive put this on the back burner for a while but i fully intent to keep adding to this
This is a great demo! Thanks so much for doing it.
Glad it was helpful!
3:2 polyrhythm
thank you for explaining all of this in a very clear way 🫂💖 I didn't know that modes are just scales that start and end on different notes
Im so glad you have found it helpful!!
This is awesome
Thank you!!
Thanks for keeping this so simple - - it's surprising how long it took me to find a demo of the PG pickups in a Les Paul that was just a clear, uncomplicated demonstration of the relatively unadulterated tone. A reviewer who can provide me with a no-nonsense example of tone without burying everything in maxed-out gain and playing 840 bpm palm muted djent for 8 minutes is worth his or her weight in gold-plated pickups.
And yes, a guitarist who can play metal at 840 bpm for 8 minutes is ALSO worth his or her weight in gold-plated pickups.
This is the demo I needed. Too much effect, but i could still discern that they are quiet and have the right kind of soul.
Please, in the future, do not play with a trail of delay so we can better hear the pickups. Otherwise, great demo.
Didnt think about that, will do in future!
This was amazing
Thank you so much!!
With a tone that sterile, you probably not gunna be makin’ no babies!
Lighter Strings Dude. I'm playing .008's to .038 on 25.5" scale and a speical set of .0085 to .040" Ernie Ball 2228 Mighty Slinky strings on 24.5" scale. Hands don't hurt nearly as bad as they used too.
That’s basically what i had to do! Turned out i had an actual injury that needed a little physical therapy, but it’s back to full strength now and I’m using 10’s again
Could you please share the chord progression over which this jam is taking place
To be honest i have no clue 😂 but it’s probably a lot of E minor pentatonic stuff with a little A minor pentatonic mixed in
bro thank you so much for the info, I just got a guitar with Fluence Moderns in them and after coil tapping it hummed like crazy so I contacted the dealer - they said that they can offer a replacement, should I still do it? It sounds like this is normal lol...
Lol yeah if there is only noise when you use voice 3 or do the coil tap/split then a different set isn’t going to change that. But it also shouldn’t be noisy just because you did a coil split, i had a computer in front of me acting as a source of noise. You could check your environment with a passive single coil pickup and see if you are getting similar hum, if it sounds like there is an extra source of hum or significantly more noise/hum than the passive then there could be an issue with the fishman pickup. Otherwise id say you’re just fine Let me know if that helps and if you have any other questions!
Funny enough I found your channel because I was watching an Avatar: The Last Airbender reaction video where they mentioned that "Midnight Sun Madness" would make a great band name. Excellent song too. ruclips.net/video/NFGesjnbDU8/видео.html
Idk why i never saw this comment, thats so cool! We are working on a full album right now under that band name actually! 😂
cool!
Do these work without the batteries? I have a peavy generation exp tele that’s strat style with three pickups but it does not have a back plate so I’m wondering if I can even use them. Thanks!
They unfortunately have to have batteries, but there are a couple different ways you can wire it that could work. For this one we did not use the back plate battery, it just has a 9v battery tucked away behind the pickguard. If you have space in the cavity you should be able to make it work!
Hey man, Im dropping HHH in my SG.. In your research and opinion. Which HB sounds the best in single coil mode? Which in your opinion is best jack of all trades? If I were dropping 3 in HHH in an SG..
Man that is tricky, i havent actually heard what they sound like in the middle position. I personally love the classic neck as a single pickup, but some of the artist series are a little more versatile and can do a strat 2 or 4 position by combining coils from each pickup(henson and abasi pickups). I think for this question you may want to call fishman support! Its pretty specialized
@@CodyHarmon Thank you man, Fishman did send me schematics for 3x Classics with 3 voice and phase. I saw Greg Koch using HHH classics in an Epiphone LP and it was great but, theres so many new models deciding which does the most stratty tone when split, man, I Cant decide. Thank you for your vide, time, and response. I enjoy your content and value your opinion.
Nice one! I'm currently building an LP with 3 p90s and I bought this switch to avoid awkward switching for the middle pickup 👍
could you send me a diagram of how you wired it? this is my first time working on the electronics of a guitar allthough i have taken on many other electronics jobs. but wanting to do the same thing.
I love this!! And the yawn at the beginning, cracks me up! then the amazing jam comes so effortlessly!! Rock on!
Such an amazing song!! So pretty! I want to listen to it all day!! Love the vocals and instrumentation! Off the charts!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮❤
The more I listen and pick up on the lyrics, the more I love it. This is a beautiful combination of elements 🫶
🥰🥰
Thanks for the solid tunes
🥰🥰🥰
I don't know why PRS went with the rotary then blade switch when this makes so much more sense.
Ive never actually tried a rotary switch. Im curious how it would feel
Just to be difficult and different. Unusual and unnatural marketing. Over rated and over priced. Sold mine and bought Suhr.
Hey Cody, what is on your left hand?
Its for treating trigger finger. I had a variety of hand injuries for a while, it makes a big difference if you ever have that issue!
can u get a bigger mic? lol
Only if you can recommend one 😂😂
So awesome !! Love this! So fun!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much 😍😍
Im glad it was helpful!
Can I recommend you move that soft like out of frame, and possibly in front but to the left and slightly higher than your face? Also you might either want to be move the mic so you’re not leaning into it.
All good feedback! Thank you!
SICK.
❤️❤️❤️
God i love you.
🤣🤣 Right back at you boo
Great demos of both the Fluence Strat single coils and p90s. How would you compare the single coil voice 3 of the p90s to voice 1 or 2 of the Strat? And do you have a tone preference between the 3 p90 voicings, which seems quite versatile, vs the 2 Strat single coil voices? Or do you both like them equally well for doing their own thing? I’m considering doing a partscaster type thing and the versatility of the p90s seems appealing. Then there’s the mossivil9ty of mixing and matching… Thanks!
This could be due to scale length but, through the exact same signal chain, the strat single coils feels just a bit brighter and snappier where the p90 single coil voicing feels a bit warmer, but the strat seems to have just a touch more twang to it. I really like the overwound voicing(2) in the p90s, especially on the neck, its very fat like a PAF humbucker but still has some single coil feel to it as well. If you like the strat 2 & 4 positions (I love them) then you really cant beat that set, but if you mainly use bridge and neck then i think you could get all the tones you wanted out of the p90 single coil voicing + you get that nice fat p90 tone As a 3rd option i loveee their HSH setup with the classic set of humbuckers. Incredibly versatile, beautiful voicings + you get the 2 & 4 strat positions perfectly
@@CodyHarmon excellent, thanks for your thoughts! I have 2 guitars with the Fluence classic open core humbuckers. Love them, and looking to expand tonal options. I’m thinking I might have to try both the Strat set & p90s. Great to hear that the HSH set can also nail the 2 & 4 position Strat tones. Makes sense about the scale length possibly being some or all of the “single coil” tone difference.
That is very clear, thanks 👏
Im glad it was helpful! You’re very welcome!
Awesome!! What a great solo!! More!!! Love the fashion statement too❤
beautiful! that outfit is made for smooth slow solo, otherwise dying of sweat is a real possability :D
🤣🤣
Beautiful! Really enjoyed it!! Keep these pieces coming 👏👏👏🙌
I would love to see how these fo with a fuzz pedal
i think i could do that! i just gotta find a fuzz pedal i have never used one before haha
Why not roll off the tone on that bridge pup. It is very ice picky!
You are speaking toooo fast for not native english speakers❤
Sorry about that 😂 working on talking slower haha
Hello Cody sound is very low. But great video.and could you please slow down?.Thanks
Can turn up the audio! And working on slowing down, its harder than you think for me 🤣
