I like to think that when we die our spirit gets to fly through space at incredible speeds, experiencing the wonders of the universe. It is a nice dream but I guess our spirits will need some special glasses to experience the full effect. Pillars of Creation: I'm comin' for ya!
@@RhodySeth that’s very poetic of you :) I actually know a very talented Astrophotographer that imagines his now passed away wife out there

@@creazie Yeah its not exakt, but more in the ball park size wise
Did you shoot some things in log and not adjust it. The first clip for example looks really washed out. Interesting that you can get that quality of image with your skies. It gives me hope.
@@pedzsan yes! I forgot to grade it 😂🙈 Bortle 9 is hard work but totally worth it! 😃 thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video, very helpful. I have got the SVbony UV/IR cut and CLS filters which I am going to use initially with my Askar 80phq and a DSLR, eventually upgrading to a ASI585MC.
That's a solid setup! The 585MC is a good camera! I was thinking of 585 or 2600 and ended up with the latter :-) Thanks for watching!
I’m a beginner astrophotography enthusiast and I would love to connect with you some day. Currently I’m living in Bromölla, Sweden and I have star sense 80 mm lt az Celestron telescope that I use with my iPhone 14 Pro Max for astrophotography. Get a Pegasus Astro Pocket Powerbox Advance Gen2 to manage your power and data distribution. I have one USB 3 cable connecting to my ASI AIR; the rest goes through the Pegasus. The Pegasus also manages dew heaters by calculating the dew point and adjusting the heaters' output accordingly. Extends my Jackery battery life.
@@robertgrenader858 that sounds like a great piece of equipment! Thanks for the tip, will definitely check it out!

Excellent overview of the physics of light and dealing with light polution filters. Question, please: I have a ZWO 533MC Pro camera and a 60 mm 4 element APO, 80 mm triplet APO, and a C6 SCT. I'm shooting in Bortle 8+ city light pollution...I bought a Svbony SV220 dualband filter, but there's no sulfur filtering. I'm looking at the Altair Tri RGB that works on Ha, OIII, and SOIII. What's your recommendation, please, for a single " ideal" filter for my optical train. Thanks, Michael
@@michaeledmonds3027 Hello! If it’s narrowband filters we’re talking about, I would have gone for a Sii Oiii dual band filter, like the Altair 4nm one. And of course the L-Ultimate Ha Oiii 3nm filter. Thanks for watching!
Really nice shots

@@RhodySeth I’m in the 4-digit club! 😅
Hi, great video. Thanks. I’ll try with a two dual color magic filter, Askar. One is H alfa + OIII and the other one is OIII+ Sulfur. How could I do with the both sets of data? In order to process like you do. Sorry my bad english. I hope I have explained it properly. Thanks a lot
@@imaginalcala those are great filters! Remember that the HaOiii is 3nm whilst the SiiOiii is 6nm. I would extract the separate channels when stacking and then stack the two Oiii images into a single one, and then treat them as mono images 👌🏼
@@GediAstro Thanks, but I´ll try with C color magic Askar. Do you know how can I separate the channels in s APP (Astro Pixel Processor)? Thanks a lot. I have been thinking, perhaps I have to stack lights OIII and S and after in PS separate the chanels asuming OIII is blue and green and S is Red?
@@imaginalcala yes at tab 0, select HaOiii - Extract Ha and HaOiii extract Oiii and then the same for SiiOiii. You’re gonna stack four times and then a fifth time for the two Oiii :)
@@GediAstro Muchas gracias. Thanks a lot.
@@GediAstro Hi, only a question, in tab O, in APP are Extract Ha from Ha OIII and Extract OIII from HaOII but I can´t see Extract SII or Extract OIII from SiiOiii.
Fabulous video 👌

Enjoyed the video. Shame about the battery issues but you came away with two great images. Going to a dark sky location for the first time is certainly an eye opener. CS.
Yeah that dark sky is something else dude! I actually managed to solve my battery issue, turns out it was a calibration error on the display and it showed the wrong charge remaining. The battery worked like a charm after showing "1 minute left" for hours! I later recharged it and it went back to good ol 8 hours of operation time remaining again. Phew! Thanks for watching!

Literally my dream setup.. with all the advancements in camera quality, would you recommend mono or colour camera?
It's a fantastic setup, go for it! 🙂 I'd recommend mono all the way, but that's a lot due to the fact that I photograph from Bortle 9 and do mostly narrowband imaging. In theory, Mono is always better, but you need to remember what your needs are. I personally don't enjoy the fact that I need at least 2 hours of data collection just to get a color image (30 minutes of LRGB each). It's always a hustle when I do trips to dark locations and can feel stressed to get an image. Then a color camera would be better, because i'd have results directly from the first sub 🙂
Amazing! 👏🏻
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it and thanks for watching!
You don't think about the battery needs for those massive telescopic cameras but it makes sense it could be a big issue. Pretty cool seeing those shots of everyone with their setups.

It never happened :-) It was simply a slow video of data collection with my telescope. Tried a live session for the first time. Unfortunately nothing exciting will happen - other than an occasional UFO passing by :)
Hi! I'm really inspired by people like you who do astrophotography. I just started building my own setup, but I'm feeling overwhelmed and need some advice. I have a Star Adventurer GTI mount and a Skywatcher Evostar 72ED refractor. I want to capture smaller galaxies like M104, M51 and some smaller galaxy clusters. I'm considering getting a ZWO ASI715MC camera, but some people say it's not good for DSO imaging. I don't know what to expect from it, and I don't want to waste money on something that won't work well. Another option is to use a Canon DSLR like the 550D, but I'm worried the field of view will be too wide to get decent quality images of smaller galaxies. Can you give me some advice on what to expect from each camera, or if you have any other recommendations? I plan to get an autoguiding setup and field flattener in the future, but for now, I just want to try some basic imaging with just the scope and camera. Thanks in advance for your help! Keep up the amazing work!
@@rd_0939 I do have some thoughts :) First of all, I think it’s great that you really think things over before purchasing! So the 72ED is a 420mm telescope, meaning it’s really not suitable for smaller galaxies like M104. But you’ll get good photos of larger ones, like Andromeda galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy or ok photos of some of the medium sized ones, like M51 or M101. I agree with the ASI715 assessment of others, it’s a planetary camera made to take high speed videos of planets. So although it’s tempting to get one and “zoom in” even more, it’s just a digital zoom and won’t help you with getting better images. I’d go with a DSLR like you plan, and when you stack your images, drizzle by x1.5 and you can then crop that photo to get closer to the galaxy without loosing too much resolution! If you later on in your journey want to be serious about galaxy photography and getting the smaller ones up close, you’re gonna be looking at telescopes with more than 1000mm in focal length :) But for now, try the above and just let me know if you need further advice! I would also invest in a modified DSLR if I were you, that way you can also photograph beautiful nebulae within our own galaxy. 420mm is great for that!
Thanks a lot! I think I should give DSLR a try. Maybe that way I can image larger galaxies or nebulae, and also get some decent wide field images of smaller galaxies. Thanks again for the help. I'll definitely get a more professional setup in the future.
nice didnt even know this existed, I like using my telescope alot might look into it.
Filters are your best friend and a filter wheel is really good to have. I highly recommend it!
