Spring is coming and Overwhelmed with Too Many Projects and Not Enough Time
I have a defender bulkhead on my series 2a we shortened the brake tower and pedal by 25mm to get the bonnet/hood back in place
Great solution , so many series trucks are running later engines on the original non - assisted brakes
How do you have the milwaukee box secured under the driver seat ?
Where you at bud?? Ontario?
Hi Andrew, I'm sadened by your need to suddenly sell everything, is everything OK? On the other hand you will be welcome home, but where will you settle?
Hi mate all is good just a new chapter in life, I will be going back to the Newcastle Hunter valley area where I grew up.
I use the same plow on a 2023 HD9. For doors I'm using Can-Am factory solid polly/glass doors. They are solid, with polly lower sections stay on all year round, and remove the sliding glass uppers in the warmer season. Good set-up.
Beautiful work
Im guessing youve been over there for some time now and its going a massive change geading back home. Shame yo have to move on those beauties, but i hope Ivy can come with you.
Wow, that's a big change.
Yes, this has to be the biggest changes in my life, even more than moving to Canada.
Good tow truck
Keep up the good work
coming along
I put a hitch on the front of my ATV sure makes things handy at times
Looking great, looks like the bonnet needs a bit of panel work above the air conditioning bracket, you may gain a 1/4 inch Greeting from Tasmania.
wicked !
Thanks mate and keep watching for updates
Seeing as the engine bay is going to be very full, would it help to put the turbo behind the cab between the chassis rails, with air box also put behind the cab. You then have simple exhaust pipe down and back past the cab, and just the boost pipe from the turbo going through to the intercooler. Could even have an intercooler under the tray and just have the cold boost pipe to intake. No turbo or airbox in the engine bay would save a bit of room. For the heated intake, I'm guessing that's just for super cold starts. Is there an electric heater option that would be far less bulky than a water jacket unit.
Hi mate, the engine bay room isn’t too bad just the length of the engine and the steering box and these engines were used in everything from trucks to boats to motor homes and large equipment so there are a few intake and exhaust options including an inter grated air to water intercooler and an exhaust manifold to move the turbo forward so I think I have a solution to the turbo space problem so I think it will be all good and as for the height under the hood I just need to put spacers under the body mounts to make the cab higher so all good and thanks for watching
Glad to see you back again. Love your videos,
Glad you like them! Thanks Russel
Nice vlog.. Here I come from North Borneo Sabah, Malaysia.. I had my series 3 bought it from my grandpa.. Keep it up the channel with more restorations about landy and great information.. I'll try to promote your channel to our Landy club.. All the best👍🙏 - Arnold..
Thanks Arnold I will have some more soon, Ive just been dealing with the black dog over winter so it has been hard to pick up the camera but spring now so feeling better.
Love the 101 I'm suggesting that you put a awning on the side to sit under and move the kitchen same setup to the side olso under the awning
Great idea! I do plan on making a hard top and once that is done I will ad a swing out awning as there is nothing to attach an awning o with the soft top
@6:42, Mine!
Nice little series 2
first prize goes to you, my friend.!!
Hi Andrew- looking forward to more videos on this project. If you're still after a name, I was thinking 'K-5' and the name Kitty popped into my head. Cheers
I like it!
very good
Series 2 taper from the waist to the gutter. The series 1 hardtop sides are vertical.
Thanks for the reply. I’m thinking of moving the winch up and just using bolts with lock bouts for the top plow mount.
I have a 2023 defender max lone star. My winch is factory mounted where your hitch is. I hit a small lip in the driveway today and instead it the plow folding forward it sheared off all the bolts. I’m hoping I can retap the winch holes and add larger bolts to keep this from happening again. I think this heavy of a plow set up needs more than 4 bolts to hold the plow mount to the frame.
Hi Mark I have also had this, I drilled out and installed slightly larger bolts keeping in mind that having a weak link somewhere prevents larger damage so I didnt go with large bolts
@@campcrackatinny were you able to drill and retap the winch mount holes? Also what size did you go with? What size carriage bolts did you use?
@@marksinclair5236 My apologies it was the bolts that mount the plow mount plate bolts I replaced, no problems with my winch as I have my winch up on my brush bar but if I understanding your winch mount I would drill out to the next size up and just use a nylock nut and bolt
@@marksinclair5236 Oh and I am Camp Crack a Tinny and TMPNET youtube channels, I have 2 channels with different topics
I like the rambling!
Thanks Harry its going to continue anyway so something to look forward to thanks for watching
There is indeed an easy fix for Won't turn left: turn right three times
I added an extension nipple to the filler pipe to keep the oil level above the top bearing. Weakest point of the 101. I carry a spare
Cold weather antitheft disabled.
Ho ho ho
Merry Christmas!! She sounds awesome! Exhaust looks good too!
Thanks! You too! Happy Holidays
Sounds way too fun for an old S1. Would Be very cool if you could fit a butterfly valve and have a quiet mode through another muffler or 2. Space really doesn't make this possible, but it would be awesome to have sleeper mode and beach rooster tail mode. :) Merry Xmas.
Hi Nathan it actually sounds louder in the video and in the shop, the footage of the exhaust tip note didnt record so I will do another video short with the outlet sounds which is beautiful I love a rover V8 noise, thanks mate merry christmas
Great in detail video! I've just bought a 101 and have yet to know if i'm cramped or not. I've only driven it about a mile so far due to brake issues. It's nice to know it's not hard to move the seat back back a bit.
I'm impressed with how neatly the pipe passes through the cross member. That system is going to sound great. I like the use of the rear cross member for exhaust exit, but I have heard of others having issues with the exhaust gasses sucking back into the cab due to the flow of air and the low pressure zones at the tailgate. I think the side is the best for getting it out and away.
Hi Nathan thanks, yes the cross member was thanks to thinking many steps ahead as to what needed to also live in that piece of real estate and it works and look great. as for the exit strategy I did put a lot more thought into the reason you mentioned and I guess we will find out this weekend.
Merry Christmas mate from australia
Thanks Michael Same to you mate!
Excellent investment in the heated windscreen. I wish I had one on my D1. 😀 you’re surprised as me when a good weld happens. Ha ha!!
Yes investment is right with the shipping costs but it arrived safe and fast
@@TooManyProjectsNotEnoughTime I was thinking that’s a lot of packaging… then found out it was glass. Ha ha!!
Those end caps worked out great. I'm glad you didn't do the version with the holes. I like how it dips down, but is still providing a lip for all the random crap we put on the shelf from sliding off the end on corners. I've had so much crap shoot off the ends and always want to fill it in. Nice work.
Thanks Nathan yes I agree with the hole option and then realized the final option after staring at it for about an hour
@@TooManyProjectsNotEnoughTime Some famous guy in the not-so-distant history used a term of Final Solution, good to see you have found yours. :)
Hi Andrew the end caps look really good and they finish off the end well. I really like the idea of the heated windscreens because in my series 2A the only way to keep the windscreen clear was to run with the front window vents open which even in the UK could be bracing in winter 😂
Glad you like them! but I will probably do the small vents like the original ones I had in the previous video nut the heated windshields allowed me to mentally move on for now.
The other advantage of driving with the front window vents open is that you don't smell the petrol and oil leaking from the vehicle while you're driving. Hypoy 90 and four star Mmmmmmmmm delicious 😂@@TooManyProjectsNotEnoughTime
Great Video ! :)
Thanks!
Great video. I’m considering the pro (4wheel) version of this unit. How has reliability been? Great job customizing and bringing more practical functionality to this rig?
Reliability has been great no problems really at all. Thanks for watching
C, it’s more in keeping with the vehicle
B and C it is.
❤ I opened up a couple of old iPhones just so I could like it more. 😊 Best video of this type I’ve seen so far. I absolutely agree with pushing the trailer instead of pulling it. I launched my boat that way. It’s awesome. Absolutely love the cordless remote control on the winch. That’s the best ever. And if the logs too big or frozen in, you can always use the winch on the UTV to help along lol😂
I find it amazing when people say I cant drive with the trailer in front and then I make them try and they are amazed at how much easier it is than it looks, thanks for watching mate
C definitely looks the better option 👍
A slightly modified C it is and can be seen on my facebook page post, let me know what you think
c is simple and a bit more in character
I agree with a slight twist
C. Looks the better job.
I think I even improved on C its on my facebook page and coming up in the next video
b
Well its a combo of B and C
lots of air movement! Nice job!
Yes and now to just get the air down to the feet
Hey sir, great videos! What type of snow deflector did you add onto the top of your plow blade? I just bought a 60 inch Can-Am pro mount blade and I’m trying to find a snow deflector for it.
Thanks Brent, it was the one that came with the plow package that is listed in my other video on assembling the plow, thanks for watching
I have a 1957 swb station wagon, you will need the screen demister vents, they do fog up. But the heater does not pump out much.
Or a heated windshield
