The definition of "poverty" is inaccurate because it willfully ignores the differences in the cost of living. For example, the price of bare essentials in the west is such, that the westerners would need at least £200K per annum to achieve the standard of living enjoyed by Indians earning just $5K. Worse still, the cost of living gap is widening further , because India enjoys benefits of the "developing country" status. They have very little incentive to converge, because low cost of living makes their main export - outsourcing - more attractive for companies operating in the west, and provide opportunities to the indian oligarch class to rip the benefits of the wage arbitrage.

All good but what are zappatistas are willing to do with those who criticize their beliefs? Well, check out what commies did to those who disagreed with them. Idealizing post-development is not any different than idealizing any ideology or theory.
