Boss Katana:GO is for street performing. Did you know?
Sound samples 1:21, and demo 5:42
So what did you think? If those speakers in the Cube St EX were at least 10 inch, full range speakers, this setup would be a 10/10. However, I give it a 9/10 due to the "small speaker sound", but it still sounds really good in person, to me. I give the Katana:GO a 9/10 because it doesn't have a metronome, and the app will not be getting any new updates since the product is discontinued.
The Boss Katana:GO is literally a pocket sized Katana amp. So much so, You can transfer your settings between any of the other amps. The "Session" feature allows you to program your pre-sets/effects to change while you play along in real time.

Tabs for alternate picking. Add this phrase to your practice routine. In my opinion, to play this over 200 bpm, you have to get a certain "feeling", or vibe, to make it sound cool with your alternate picking. That is best way I can describe it. I hope that makes sense to some, if not all. Use a metronome. Well, I did not use a metronome when I recorded this phrase for you, so I was a bit sloppy...

My mom bought me a basher in 2000 before she died. I ended up giving it away a few year's later. I told the kid he was to either play it, give it back or to someone else. He never touched it. 15 years later i got a call feom my ex eife and she told me, i can get your guitar back. I was excited again for this guitar that never got played. Its all original but for the malory yellow cap capacitor and it has a unique sound as well as the look of the neck was so unique. I got a nice case for it too. What a nice one.
@@ranman58635 that's awesome! Im so glad you've been reunited! I have a similar story with a Fender bass guitar. Maybe I'll get it back someday. Thanks for sharing!
@MichaelScottGuitar , I've had 3 guitar's come back to me. Almost 4, lol. I do hope that you will.
any tone suck or volume drop?
@@KimOlaesNovelo there is a slight change to your tone, and the tone knob did a little to help get it back. I mean, some people might like it though; Its just another "paint brush" for us.
Cool mate,rock on.
@@simonpepper9721 thanks! I still do!
could you do the same with the fender micro
Hello, MegaMark. Yes, you can do the same! I don't have any personal experience with a Fender Mustang Micro or the newer "Plus" model, but it still has the same headphone out as the NUX I'm using in the video.
Discontinued by Boss as they couldn't obtain the parts they needed. Another one down due to ongoing supply chain issues. Fortunately I bought one. Amazing device.
@@sunnibird Maybe Fender bought all the parts for theirs? Just a thought. The KTN GO is really cool.
Cool Guitar man actually my story is very similar with yours on how I acquired this exact guitar. My stepfather of many years passed away and he owned this very same guitar and left it to me. So I appreciate the information that you have given in this video because I was not really aware of the specs or the history of this Guitar. I’m sorry for your loss and may we both hold these instruments dear for the sentimental value that they represent.
Hello! Awe, man, yeah we will definitely hold these instruments dear. I play the guitar all the time now, and think of my Dad. I'm glad you got this guitar, but I'm sorry that your Stepfather passed away. I hope you have cool memories! This guitar is a perfect way to remember someone by, and it's also a rad playing guitar! This guitar needed documentation from this video (and other YT videos), and I wanted to give a public shout out to my Dad, and his service. I'm glad I could give you some info! Thanks so much for commenting on what you did; Makes the guitar feel even more special. Do you play, and is it setup? Later, dude!
Hi is there a posibility to get the preset minute 5:40 ?
Hi! I would recommend that you factory reset your NUX if you want this setting, because it's a factory setting that came with it.
@@MichaelScottGuitar Thank you. I will do that.
Anyone who has string buzz even on open strings should make sure the strings are sitting RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE of the channel in the saddles. I had that problem and totally fixed it. Dont forget to bend your string before you lock them into saddles too./
Okay so ive tried this and while it works ... There are a lot of caveats. First of all, the jack pops and snaps a lot and tends to run loose, so my cable tends to come out. Second, i feel its missing a lot of bass for whatever reason.

@@mpooul2192 Thanks so much for the nice wishes and you are right, the guitar is a little heavy, but I mostly play it sitting, for now. I hope you have a great day!
I have only been playing for two years, but I have learned how to work on my guitars, I spend a lot of time on the fret ends, I try and get them supper smooth, I round over the fretboard, and the sharp edges on the nuts too. I have never seen that model of Epiphone b4, very cool headstock. Amazing that it is still in brand-new condition with all the protective plastics. Thanks for sharing! Having a guitar dedicated to your dad is very cool, sorry for your loss.
@@bretspangler8717 thanks for checking out the vid. I actually ended up spot leveling a few frets before the video was finished. I just didn't include too much in the video, because I was trying to keep it short. I'm happy I have it, and why I have it is awesome.
Nice video.. i have a cheap dinky that did a custom paintjob and refinish on. I put duncan invaders in it and a gotoh floyd which i fuckin love. I couldnt get decent action on it because i had to shim the neck. I did it with aluminum foil. But the gotoh comes with a 14 inch radius and i think the dinky neck is a 10" radius. Thanks to this video, i cut out 6 shims from an empty cigarette box. Put 2 under the d and g strings and 1 under the a and b strings..the guitar plays fantasic now. Neck is straight.. i still have a little buzz on my low E but everything else is perfect so i think im gonna throw a shim under that saddle just to get it up a tad without fuckin anything else up. Thanks for the very simple and effective tip.. cheers!
@@JawnCoffee awesome! I'm glad this helped you out! Your guitar sounds cool!
Thank you man, I have this exact same issue on a brand new ESP E-ii guitar... wrong saddles heights and its my first guitar causing fret buzz on the same string as yours... bought in the US but I live in Brazil and can't return it 🤡... You gave me some light, I'll try to fix it myself, thanks!!
I hope it works out for you, and I'm glad I made this video to help you. Let us know if you were able to fix it? Take care!
Dude thank you. I had the same problem. And couldn’t figure it out. Every video I watched no one even mention what about just one string. So thanks man. Card idea is brilliant.
right on, bro! I'm glad it helped you out. I had to just "bond" with the guitar and eventually I found the problem soon enough.
with a scissor cut a piece of aluminum soda can like coca cola etc...same works for the floyd rose nut if its too low.
Just the names of the knobs alone on the USA version makes it all that much cooler. Chill, cold, defrost. I love it.
I do, too. Jason Lamb had some good ideas.
I legit just noticed this problem on an original Floyd rose I just purchased it’s the low and e string. So annoying. I was guna do this and put something under thanks for confirming this idea!!
Right on! It's a bit tedious, but if you chill with it, then it's a lot better experience. Feel free to let us know how it went :)
first of it sounds fine. if you would hear my problem lol dude you would die. 3 frets are sounding the same notes. and like 7 frets are not sounding at all.
Hello! Wow, sounds like a couple problems for a tech. I would definitely want to see that in person to start trouble shooting everything. I'm so sorry you're having some probs. I would suggest a tech is needed. They will determine if the guitar is even fixable. It could be anything from fixable raised frets, to a truss rod adjustment, or it could be unfixable, like a twisted set neck, or broken truss rod inside a set neck. I wish I could look at it for you! Update here if you ever get it fixed, please. You could help someone out :)

Very good. I like it. This is from Boss Katana mkii 100w?
Thank you so much! It's from a first gen stock Katana with a SM57 to record, using the brown channel. The rhythm guitars are dual tracked, left and right. I always appreciate someone listening to my mixes, and this was my first attempt at mixing and mastering.
@@MichaelScottGuitar You can deal this tones with Katana mk2, straight out from the Amp (with tone studio)? It's brutal.
@@giannispapazogloy5978 Yes, you can use the amp just fine, without tone studio, out of the box. I always do that. When I'm bored I open up tone studio and adjust things. I now use the first gen head, not the combo, and I just take the head to practices, jams, and open mics. I use the line out into the PA system, and recording interfaces. Hi, Vince! I'd say, not really. But, for some reason the Chinese version sounds a little darker. I don't know why and I could be totally wrong. And the USA version sounds like the highs are very.... Icy!
Dream guitar. Les Paul with a Floyd Rose
It's really good. I just had to ditch the FR special :)
You can get sets of shims for Floyd, either on Amazon or eBay. The stock comes with either 10 or 12 radius (can't remember 100%), which can be a mismatch compared to the fret-board radius, so you need shims to compensate and have an even distance between frets and all of the strings (to avoid buzz). Beyond me why they don't bother setting this up at the factory...
Yeah, it's like they just put it on with no regard, and get it close enough... Meh.
So most guitar factories don’t try and match the radius of the fretboard ? They just slap a Floyd rose on the guitar and that’s it ? I’ve always wondered this but no one really ever talks about it
Was hoping you would provide a ripping solo to demo the shim job. All is well, great tip..
I would do it, but I have already replaced the bridge, completely, with a FR Original. But, the shim did work. The bridge the guitar came with had a saddle that was not in the correct position and it looked totally different than the other saddles. So odd, but the bridge was fixed and given a 16" radius with the shims. Thanks for checking out the video!
I just used a Baseball bat display case to store all my DOD Pedals.
That's rad! I'll be thinking about doing something similar, but I procrastinate... If you ever make a video, send me the link.
@@MichaelScottGuitar I did make a video and just posted it.

I'm pretty sure that you can remove the spring plate all together if you like in order to get better action or just give the neck a little bit more relief. you may have a little bit of a back bow on your neck, the guitar is in really good shape you should be good and not have to put a shim in it. But is everything else failed yes you have to use a shim.
Spring plate...? Do you mean the fine tuning tension plate? If I removed that, I wouldn't be able to use the fine tuners. I like my necks to be straight as possible, but I like your input! Unfortunately, I had to go with a shim. Now, I have an entirely new FR Original installed and I just don't need to look back :)
Hmm... I may know what youre talking about. Is it the plate that goes under the tone block? I'm not sure that would lower action. Perhaps I am misunderstanding.
wonderful sound! beautiful!! thanks for sharing! All the best from Japan!
Thanks, Tak!
i will nwver ever buy a guitar with a floyd roae again
Sorry about the struggle! Come back to it someday with a German made FR.
@@MichaelScottGuitar yeah maybe in an otger decade lol i am gonna buy a les paul and get it over with.
BRO!!! I just got the same guitar but 6 string version and have been having the same issue. Searched the internet high and low and figured as a last resort to check RUclips on the off chance someone has a solution. Not only do you have the same exact issue/guitar but also a solution. I could freaking hug you right now thank you so much ❤
Thanks, bro! Let your search be over and your jam time hearty, plenty, and full. Jackson guitars feel amazing, but they dropped it on QC with these Korean 1000 FR bridges. I now have a rad antique bronze FR Original, and the guitar is better. I was able to get the action lower (at about .040 at the 12th on the high E) with adjusting the saddles to the radius more closely. It's very smooth. Enjoy your guitar and I'm glad this video helped! Send a link if you ever upload a tune or video.
Beer! Hoo-rah!🎉
I'd use a foil tape and stick it under the saddle and not on the base plate.😉
That works good, too. I just like the cards :)
Without having my digital calipers and a playing card in my hand what’s the thickness?
I found it to be (approximately) 1/64 per one shim. I used a ruler to get the approximation. A caliper would be best, as you probably know. Thanks for the question! In my experience, some decks can be at approx 1/32, but not usually.
Dude i got so angry when i just couldn’t get my new guitar properly set up. Your video saved me a lot of frustration thank you so much!!! Works like a charm
Rad! You're welcome and thank you for stopping by!
wow fantastic guitar work
Awe! You've gone and made me blush. Thank you for stopping by, and spreading some love. It comes back to you!
Was it hard changing out the Floyd rose? because I have one and I might be changing it
It wasn't hard for my first time. But I came into some challenges. You should be able to overcome them. Leave the existing bridge mounting inserts in the guitar. You can take them out using a well known trick that is everywhere on YT. If you try to put the replacement bridge mount inserts, then you might not be able to fit them in, and you will find yourself putting the ones it came with back in, or drilling a new hole. It doesn't affect the performance of the FR original. Also, you can try to see if your new locking nut will replace the old one you want to replace. If it doesn't, you will have to shim (which means the screws might not tighten well enough, so you will have to buy slightly longer ones). On the other hand, I wouldn't recommend sanding away at the guitar to lower the new nut either. Just keep the old one in until you find the correct nut, then you can replace (just measure the nut and find the right one, or look on the manufacturers website for what "R" type you got). So those were the only two problems I had. You might not even have the problem with the nut. I think I had originally got the wrong one. Other than that, It's easy as Legos.
Very nicely done, sir! And helpful, as I just ordered a Katana mkii 100 head, so this inspires confidence in the amp. 👍🤘
Rad! Thanks for stopping by! I also got the 100w head now. It's even better to match it with different speakers. I currently use it with the 1x12 seen in the corner of this video. It has a celestion g12 redback in it. You can hear this song recorded with that speaker if you watch my Resident Evil video here: ruclips.net/video/ZAngHI46WmU/видео.html Later!
Did you adjust the string height while the strings are in tension?
I eased the tension by pressing the wah-bar down, towards the pickups, with one hand and I adjusted the string height with my other hand. Some people do not suggest this, but I've never had a problem with the knife edges being damaged on a FR original. Thanks for the question and checking out the video! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Ohh okay, i am just curious because I am planning to buy the FR special and just swap the saddles with a steel one but I don't know if its worth it.
@@joeems5469 well.... Maybe, but I wouldn't try it. But, you might be lucky. How old is the bridge?
