Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
nothing helps me
sadly did not work for me, on PVE 8.2.2 I had passthrough partially working even without these steps, but it was very unstable. these steps worked once, caused the host to crash then never worked again. I'e not been able to get pci passthrough to work properly on ESXi either. it's an old Supermicro AMD Opteron systemm and does have IOMMU but it seems to be very unstable.
i have an amd 7840HS with iGpu Radeon 780M what if the correct GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT for this cpu/igpu ? amd_iommu=on i know, but what i need is for this (eg: intel_iommu=on i915.enable_gvt=1) ? thanks 4 help
i have Intel N97 CPU, should I remove i915.enable_gvt=1 parameter?
Are you able to connect an HDMI cable to your motherboard using this guide and use a display directly from your motherboard from a Windows VM?
fastest and simplest way 10 out of 10 points guide thank you very much
vfio-pci 0000:00:02.0: Invalid PCI ROM header signature: expecting 0xaa55, got 0xffff
but it's for split one i want full passthrough is there anything??
Is step 1 & 2 really still necessary for just passing through the GPU to a VM?
Using arc and it all works except inside of windows Im getting an error 43 from the gpu.
same shit bruh
@@kirillkasyanov I still havent figured it out so hopefully someone that actually knows whats up will help up both haha
I have N97 with UHD 730 GPU, what`s yours?
@@kirillkasyanov ah so you are trying to get integrated working? Ive got an a310 and a770. Cant get either to work right haha.

did anyone had luck with n100 igpu? no matter what i do, its always error 43 in windows drivers
where you get gpu number 2:24 ?
This is when you execute the command LSPCI -n -s [GPU adress], this will return the number you are looking for.
what about amd igpus? Any guide for 780m?
Unfortunately, I don't have AMD for testing.
how can I add the GPU for Synology DSM 7.2?
Do you have this as a text file so that I don't have to go back and forth with the video?
Step by Step tasks: Step 1: Edit GRUB Execute: nano /etc/default/grub Change this line from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet intel_iommu=on iommu=pt pcie_acs_override=downstream,multifunction nofb nomodeset video=vesafb:off, efifb:off" Save file and exit the text editor Step 2: Update GRUB Execute the command: update-grub Step 3: Edit the module files Execute: nano /etc/modules Add these lines: vfio vfio_iommu_type1 vfio_pci vfio_virqfd Save file and exit the text editor Step 4: IOMMU remapping a) Execute: nano /etc/modprobe.d/iommu_unsafe_interrupts.conf Add this line: options vfio_iommu_type1 allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 Save file and exit the text editor b) Execute: nano /etc/modprobe.d/kvm.conf Add this line: options kvm ignore_msrs=1 Save file and exit the text editor Step 5: Blacklist the GPU drivers Execute: nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf Add these lines: blacklist radeon blacklist nouveau blacklist nvidia blacklist nvidiafb Save file and exit the text editor Step 6: Adding GPU to VFIO a) Execute: lspci -v Look for your GPU and take note of the first set of numbers b) Execute: lspci -n -s (PCI card address) This command gives you the GPU vendors number. c) Execute: nano /etc/modprobe.d/vfio.conf Add this line with your GPU number and Audio number: options vfio-pci ids=(GPU number,Audio number) disable_vga=1 Save file and exit the text editor Step 7: Command to update everything and Restart a) Execute: update-initramfs -u b) Then restart the your Proxmox Node
Amazing, exact same iGPU worked flawlessly thanks alot!
need guide to do iGPU for Ryzen instead of Intel any chances?
Unfortunately, I don't have AMD for testing.
Will this work for proxmox ve 8.2.2
Hi, yes, this will work with all versions.

Hi, did you find an answer to your question ? I'm also interested :)
I must thank you. This is the only guide that I've used that worked for me. Thanks again.
For AMD motherboards: change "intel_iommu" to "amd_iommu"
this was helpful, thank you!
how about gpu for laptop?
Hi, you should look at the Integrated GPU passthourght video.
❤
Best tutorial I've ever seen, thank you.
Wow, thanks!
Great! Thanks, this broke my VM it wont start anymore...
Hi, you just need to remove your PCI device from VM Hardware. Put back to Default GPU and restart.
It didnt worked to me... i had followed all the steps only missing that my VM is Windows 10, not 11. I have a NVIDIA Tesla K20XM, can someone please help me?
I think that step 0 is missing-make sure that the hardware running Proxmox has hardware pass thru enabled in the BIOS
for ryzen 5700U dont work
This Tutorial is for an Intel Integrated GPU not for Ryzan.
can 2 vm access the same gpu at same time ?
Hi, to accomplish that, you need to configure additional parameters, and not all GPUs can be shared between VMs.
What additional parameters would be needed to get 2 VMs access to 1 gpu? I’m using a NVIDIA rtx 4070 ti and want to split it between multiple vms
Ubuntu vm can output to monitor but win 11 can not.
That’s because you’ve passed the entire iGPU or GPU to Ubuntu. There isn’t one left for Windows. Some iGPUs / GPUs have the ability to be partitioned into parts. NVIDIA has NVIDIA Grid for example.
I did this with my pentium G4560. The GVT-G or split passthrough works well but I cannot do any full igpu passthrough sadly.
What about outputting video over hdmi? My screen stays off when I boot the vm.
Once you passthrough your GPU you will lose the video out of the gpu.. I have an intel i5 with integrated graphics and a PCI-E GPU that I pass through, when I pass through my PCI-E GPU I have to login using remote desktop to access the VM. I setup my VM without passing through the gpu first and set a static IP so that when I changed to pass through I could just login after the VM started running. If you have guest agent setup on your VM and selected in proxmox it should display your VM's IP outside of it so you can remote in.
With 720p resolution
kvm: -device vfio-pci,host=0000:11:00.0,id=hostpci0.0,bus=ich9-pcie-port-1,addr=0x0.0,x-vga=on,multifunction=on: vfio 0000:11:00.0: failed getting region info for VGA region index 8: Invalid argument device does not support requested feature x-vga TASK ERROR: start failed: QEMU exited with code 1 I get this error when I run the virtual machine
Wich CPU was tested? Does this work with Jasper Lake ?
The tutorial is based on an Intel i5-7600 with an integrated GPU: HD630.
Great Video! How would the VM setting need to look if I'm running a Ubuntu VM?
Thank you for the best step by step tutorial of this feature! I appreciate it........grin
Hello again, also I think you didnt include the audio for igpu is due to the IOmmu conflict with the network device (this possibly would make your video very long.). I bypassed this by getting a usb3 ethernet dongle (tp=-ink) and unplugged the network device so its not being used. Add the Pcie audio device with functions and Rom unchecked and you have audio in your Windows. Linux you follow the same info in the video. Also use Seabios and i440 for Windows. Not sure how you used OVMF and Q35 but good job. Good luck!
AMD?
This should work by replacing the intel_iommu by amd_iommu.
Excellent video. I would be really interested to see this working with a linux desktop VM?
Execellent video... thank you for this video.
This is for amd or intel?
I used an intel iGPU in my example.
Can i use an Intel ARC 750 GPU?
Hi there, I don't have an Intel ARC GPU for testing purposes. While it might work, it seems that others have encountered issues when the VM goes into sleep mode. As a result, we may face some challenges in getting it fully operational.
First actually good AI tutorial, thank u
Glad you think so!
i did it tks you

Hello, when I add the PCI, I can't start the VM, and I have this error : kvm: -device vfio-pci,host=0000:21:00.1,id=hostpci0.1,bus=ich9-pcie-port-1,addr=0x0.1: vfio 0000:21:00.1: failed to setup container for group 20: Failed to set iommu for container: Operation not permitted
Hi, did you validate if your IOMMU option in the BIOS is Enabled?
@@HomeTechAutomation-er7ix Hello, I have HP ML350p g8, how I enable it ?
Can you pas through igpu to windows vm and attach a real monitor? I have i5-8400 cpu.
Yes, you need to connect your monitor to the iGPU on your Proxmox Server. By passing through your iGPU to a VM, you are losing the ability to see your Proxmox console. You are now only able to manage your Proxmox node through an internet browser interface. Don't forget to also add your keyboard and mouse to the VM hardware to be able to use your Windows VM.
I followed the instructions, however i got an error when trying to use primary GPU. I had to turn it off to boot the Windows VM. I will say its now working perfectly. Thanks you. I too had a rx580 as my card.
Hello... when VM is turned off, does the GPU still takes some power? Asking because I have a homelab machine that runs 24x7... I am thinking to install a GPU (RTX 3060) on it and passthrough to a windows 11 VM for occasional gaming.... my only concern is, since my homelab machine is on 24x7 where as Windows VM (for gaming) will only be turned on few hours a week.... when the VM is off, is my homelab machine still using gpu power? or is it possible to completely turn off the gpu when windows vm is off/suspended
Hello, in most cases, when a GPU is not actively processing any tasks, it enters a low-power state where its power consumption is minimized. This is true whether the GPU is installed in a physical machine or passed through to a VM that is powered off.
