This person doesn't recognise that electric cars are charged mainly by the use of fossil fuels! If everyone switched to electric, the National Grid would collapse! The amount of carbon (and environmental damage) that goes into producing an electric car and the lithium battery alone would produce more carbon than 5 internal combustion engines combined for the life of the vehicle! Also, you can't recycle lithium batteries! Like any battery it has a lifespan - when this comes to an end the car would be worthless as the cost of replacing the battery would be more than the car was worth! Also, where are you going to dispose of the battery? The UK produces only 1% of global carbon emissions! Why are we bothering? God is dead but the new Climate religion is taking its place! OCC have become ideologically possessed with the new climate religion and like Jehovah Witness want to push it down your throat whether you like it or not! These councils are out of control as we now see with the OCC plans to divide Oxford into 5 fiefdoms lorded over by the council! Fantastic to have championed the roll-out of the Oxfordshire Park & Charge project, right here in Bicester with the pilot site at Cattle Market car park. This is also just down the road from the fantastic SME who are manufacturing the charging hubs for us! Still a huge amount to do on the Climate Emergency to secure our planet for nature and future generations, but this is a start :)
