LYRICS:
Head down as I watch my feet take turns hitting the ground
eyes shut, I find myself in love racing the Earth
and I soaked in your love
and love is right in my path, in my grasp
and me and you belong
I wanna run, run smack into you
I wanna run, run, smack into you
ears closed, what I hear no one else has to know
cause' I know that what we have is worth first place in gold
and I soaked in your love
and love is right in my path, in my grasp
and me and you belong
and I, I wanna run, run smack into you
I'm willing to run, run smack into you
Head down as I watch my feet take turns hitting the ground
eyes shut, I'm in ...

    ...you know he didn't write this, right? It's a demo written by The Dream and Tricky Stewart. Beyoncé got credit for production, melody, harmonies and lyrical changes, most significantly the change from 'Smack' to 'Smash.' She didn't steal it. It was written for her, and she changed it

    singers buy songs and rights to songs all the time. meaning the original writer/singer does not get any residuals from the song.the person who name goes first gets paid the most off the song. so whoever owns the rights gets paid off both versions. pretty much what ghost writers for hip-hop and novels. its just business

    The only thing that annoyed me was that he sang "smack" instead of "smash". If your going to sing Beyonce, you better at least "smack" it "smack" it in the air!

      dillpikell The original lyrics are "smack into you" which makes more sense. An example use of the phrase is: "I ran smack into the back of a parked truck." No one would say I ran *smash* into the back...etc. The only reason Beyonce changed that one word is so she could get writing credit.

    WAYYYYYYYY better than Beyonce's version. Hers sounds too contrived. Like Cinderella and her glass slipper, the one who truly fits the song is the man who wrote it.

      Except the guy didn't even write it lmao. The song was written and produced ENTIRELY by Beyonce's longtime collaborators The Dream and Tricky Stewart. Like Beyonce, he recorded the song, but decided to not put it to his album, so Beyonce took it.

      "Smack Into You" was rumored to be written for Jon McLaughlin's second studio album "Ok Now". The song has reportedly been performed throughout his summer and fall tour but it ended on the scrap pile when his album was finalized. To avoid a waste, it was then presented to Beyonce Knowles. *On his official website, Jon wrote that "Smack Into You" was written and produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream.* "[The song] is about falling head over heels in love, a combination of The Police's 'Every Breath You Take' and U2's 'With or Without You' melding acoustic guitar and McLaughlin's piano to create a passionate undertow," so his biography read. www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00020888.html#ixzz4phyxoeho

    Fleahive need to stop it, I use to really really like Beyonce until I discovered all of her thievery and lack of originality. She gets sued constantly because she has no original idea to offer. How she going to claim songwriting credit for a song already written?? Beyonce stans are as delusional as her.

    • @erikaj8125
      @erikaj8125 9 лет назад

      lmfao. . You should do your research before making yourself look dumb. He didn't wrote the song, "McLaughlin's version of "Smack Into You", written and produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, was leaked to the internet in 2008, but did not appear on OK Now (his album). Beyoncé eventually covered the song and it was featured on her album I Am... Sasha Fierce, re-titled as "Smash Into You"."

    • @saucyman
      @saucyman 8 лет назад

      Can you please cite times she was successfully sued? All her suits are not based in anything so they don't go anywhere. Secondly, she can claim credits for the arrangement, the harmonies, the word that she did change. That, in black and white, are changes to the song. If she gets 100% of the royalties then there is a problem. But as other people are very clearly credited, there is no problem but for people like you who take on instance and blow it up into something it isn't. Her "lack of originality" as you call it is no different than people like Michael Jackson and Madonna and yet she somehow feels the full brunt of the criticism.

      When has Beyoncé ever said that changing a word makes you a writer? She's written way more than that before, thus she is a songwriter. She's also a business woman and knows that if she contributes to the song she will be credited accordingly.

    • @saucyman
      @saucyman 8 лет назад

      No, one word doesn't make her a writer. Writing often makes her a writer. You're acting like this instance is the summation of her entire writing history.

      There is more to writing a song than mere words and melody. Arrangement, harmonies, etc. come into play. Not to mention that unless you can see that Beyoncé got an unfair amount of royalties for changing what she did, she still changed something.

    This is the best version of the song. I like Beyoncé a lot but it doesn't really work with a female vocal. It's also clear evidence that she's not a songwriter despite what the credits might say.

    Putting your name on someone's work, even though you bought it, still seems dishonest. Why not just give the young man credit? He would have been better off publishing his music because he did a much better job.

  • @inflight888

    Why is this guy's name not on the credit for writing this song? If you buy a song off someone does that mean you no longer wrote it and they can slap their name on it? Why did they not give this young man credit??

  • @Buddychigo
    @Buddychigo 11 лет назад

    You also said "bye" and replied again, didn't you? Or did I misunderstand your "BYEEE!"? I said "bitch please" in response to your "children" comment, not in relation to any of your other sentences. It's true I shouldn't have stooped down to your level, my apologies. But yes, you're delusional: I am not hating/attacking her. B took songwriting credits and shouldn't have... That was my point and I never said she STOLE the song. Songs get passed to other artists all the time in the industry! ;)

  • @Buddychigo
    @Buddychigo 11 лет назад

    A typical hater never justifies their opinion. Basically the opposite of a pressed stan. (Both are very annoying, to be honest) If you think I'm "blatantly hating", you're clearly delusional and dishonest. Even though I'm not a fan of Beyoncé's mentality, it doesn't take anything away from her skills as a singer and a performer. And are you seriously accusing me of name-calling? I think someone needs to look up the word in a dictionary before using it.

  • @Buddychigo
    @Buddychigo 11 лет назад

    It does help my argument, since my point was that "you should be honest about your real input". I don't know how I'm the one who's a child, since your comments make you like a typical pressed stan who can't take criticism directed at Beyoncé. Bye bye!

  • @Buddychigo
    @Buddychigo 11 лет назад

    You say it's smart, I'd say it's cunning. And, bitch please, there's no need for your condescending tone ("you children") that doesn't make your argument look better than it is. And I doubt that "publishing" is Beyoncé's sole intention when she requires her name to be included: I think we have enough evidence from several songwriters that shows Beyoncé tries A LOT harder than other singers to look like "an artist". Pretending she co-writes her own songs is one example.

  • @mysteriousBookworm
    @mysteriousBookworm 11 лет назад

    Sorry but it sounds/flows much better as "Smash into you". Too bad, I really like this guy's voice! His version is far superior to B's but I just wish it wasn't "smack" .

  • @Churros1616
    @Churros1616 11 лет назад

    well she changed one word, changing one word is enough to get writing credits!! That is how it works. If you look at the credits, her name is also last! That means she has had the least input in writing credits. So yes she is honest about her input!!!

  • @aner3222

  • @OKzs
    @OKzs 11 лет назад

    She needs to stop trying to steal writing credits, because her "modification" does not even make sense!! The term in English is to "smack dab in the middle" or "he ran smack or smack-dab into that person or that wall" you don't "run smash into that person"?!?!?! She is idiotic for making that change and whoever approved her putting this on the album is silly too. She should have changed something else and left that because her version is comical!
