Crossed the country 4 times on the Sabre. I agree with your opinion. I don’t have experience with the CB1000, but crossed the country on a CB 900C twice. The power difference is astounding.. .my feeling is the Sabre “falls into turns” and will keep falling if you don’t stop it. . .and the 900 you made it turn, like most other bikes.

@@kengilly867 is it the one back east on marketplace near south Carolina? I was on business and saw another for sale over there about a month ago. But to answer the question it's still really easy to find most parts I do warn you the front rotors on these late model airheads with the dual brembos are ridiculously expensive I think it's about $450+ for the pair depending on were you look. Otherwise every part I've had to order and locate has been available as the actual drivetrain and engine in these was used in many other bikes until about 95-6 I believe. The basic engine and drive unit is virtually unchanged besides the cylinder heads from the R75-R100 with minor updates and ignition changes by the time they get to the 89+ model year. Overall has been way easier to work on and source parts for than any of the older Hondas I've owned as well.

I loved my 250LC, I put boyson reeds in it, big performance difference, changed fork oil from 5 to 10 weight, mine had excellent brakes, I slowly backed off the oil injection about 1/2 turn, my opinion they burned way to much oil, DG chambers really woke it up. Racing plugs were a huge improvement. Riding it around the great ocean road was something else.🇦🇺

True the V isnt a high speed hairpin bike. But once you learn to ride it, they handle very ably & smoothly with the right rubber . Very well balanced also. And even with the added weight, ghastly power!!! I started on smaller bikes, got a 78 CB750F in 81, a crated V45F mid 80's, had several 45 and 65F's. Love those bikes. CRAZY power in the 1100's, 121hp nominal. But I honestly loved my 1st V45F best. Perfect for frame size, weight, handling, ample power. But I'm 6'1 built up bulk over the years 🤣 Eventually missed the power feel, so stepped up into the V65. Not riding currently due to C-7 injury in a bad auto accident on black ice, but Id get another V65F in a hearbeat. Great video 👍

This is a really great comparison between two great machines but as you said which are completely different personalities... I have had two of the 1986 V65 Magna and while I do love the V4 engine I much prefer the inline four mainly because of its ease of maintenance especially when you're talking carburetors The V4 is a real pain in the butt... As far as power output and sound and feel again I much prefer the smoothness and the sound of a inline 4 over the V4

At our shop us mechanics tried to hide when these V65's came in for work! LOL The carbs in the valley between the "V" are an absolute bitch to work on. A Nightmare. A common job was the bike had been left sitting - and the carbs all clogged up with rotting gas. I swear there are a million jets in these carbs - all to be painstakingly cleaned out. Cleaning them out was a $1,000 job.
