What ae you using for live streaming/transmitting (Starlink 5G?)
Would you be willing to do a video on how exactly you use OBS? Are you passing the live video through it and using it for all your graphics and video playback (other than replay obviously)? You guys are awesome, I love how you get such high-end results with a small dedicated team and smart gear purchases. The drone is the icing on the cake.
@@multicamzilla4669 Yeah! We could do a video on OBS. Yes, we pass live video through OBS and add graphics, video playback, and stats. Thank you for the kind words!
The redhat controls the whole game?
When talking about game play, yes. They are working with us in the production truck and alerting the officials when we’d like to stop the game play and go to a commercial break or when we’d like to resume the game play.
hi , How to connect the camera and the control center (trailer), as well as the sound, thank you
Amazing stuff! At what point did you decide you needed your own truck for broadcasts vs bringing all the stuff to location and setting up there? It takes so long for us to set up! Trying to find a better way.
You guys need tally lights
I see you guys are using the behringer hlc 660m headset 6:43 for presenters I have them aswel but never get them to sounding good? Do you have any advice. I now got a Coles ribbon lip mic preowned and it sounds amazing.
Interesting. We just do some simple EQ on our Behringer X32. We are planning to upgrade these for the 2024 football season though.
Did you get that idea from Ted Lasso? 🙂
Would you guys be willing to share business operations? Or how you get your money? Sponsorships? Etc…
We've been asked this a lot and unfortunately it's not something we're ready to openly share yet. We're thinking about offering consulting in the future.
@@jrmvideo That would be something I’d be interested in if you guys ever offer it. Love the content, and I definitely look up to you guys for all video production.
those old hd panasonics always look great.
They sure do! And so much more affordable!
@@jrmvideo Which models/lenses do you like?
@@multicamzilla4669 We are using Panasonic AJ-HDX900 Camera bodies with Fujinon XA17x7.6BERM-M58B Broadcast Lenses
I’m always waiting for this good videos!!
Have you considered producing a remote broadcast (REMI) with LiveU backpacks? It could simplify a lot the production with similar results. Thanks for these BTS videos btw
You're welcome! We haven't really considered REMI. I feel like it would not be profitable after all the LiveU rentals for 5+ cameras. Not to mention audio and if there's any trouble shooting needing to take place on-site. We designed the trailer for on-site use.
Thanks a lot guys! I love watching your videos, they always inspire me to do creative things with my productions!
What he said^
That's great to hear! You're welcome!
Good video👍
What make and model of van is it? Also, I thought you'd have better speakers than those Logitech speakers with the fake tweeters.
This is the most stressed Job Ever when its Live
What kind of lights are you all using in the back there?
We custom made those using LED tape, unistrut and WLED software
Hey! You guys do ur job well…….btw I wanna ask u that…”which app do u use on ur iPad?”….can I get its name
It’s the Behringer X32 Control app
Thank you 😊😉
Do u recommend a colege degree for this work
Both Ryan and myself (Jake) did not attend college for this. We recommend experience over education. We don't completely discourage college as an option though. The best way to learn is by doing.
6:58 What is name of the mini camera? Guys just keep posting videos it is very inspirative. Thanks.
That’s a Marshall Cube Cam. They are commonly used throughout productions anywhere you can put a large camera rig. We use them for a beauty shot and announcer snoop cam so we can see what’s happening in the booth.
Thanks for leting me know.
Amazing!! Love it🥳
Very Impressive!
@JRM Video Production wow great job on this BTS fantastic job on the explanations of the elements! the best so far you guys are doing a great job keep it up
They just start talking zero setup about what the video is about. 0/10 would not watch again
Thanks for watching! :)
Nice, very inspiring
NICE!! Which is model the Cable with the MTP connector and Where have you bough it? thank you for all !!
We purchase all custom fiber from FS Fiber. That specific MTP Cable is a military grade armored cable with Type A polarity straight through. Both connectors are female MTP-12 with 12 fiber counts.
I would like to know how you send the signal to the tv station ???
Via two teradek encoder sent out via SRT streaming. One primary and one backup.
@@jrmvideo Thanks, you guys are amazing!!
Do you use teradek bonded solution? Or just fibre at the stadium?
How do you get in contact with the tv station?
Reached out to the station engineer. I would try station manager or sports director.
Curious to know how you are getting your signal to the TV station. I did not see any antennas or satellite on or around your trailer. Thanks for the great examples you are setting. Keep up the good work and much success.
The station provided us with 2 video encoders which would send via RTMP streaming directly to the station. This meant we had to have good reliable internet at every location and we had to have specific ports open on firewalls. There was a lot of IT coordination every week. In the few cases internet was not available, they would provide us with a LiveU pack to transmit over cellular bonding.
@@jrmvideo Now I get it. Thnk you for the quick response and continued success.
I am curious to know how you routed the Intercom system. Is it through an output from the Mackie mixer? Evrery on hears the same audio coming out of your mic or do you separate the audio for the cameramen and the commentators? Please be detailed in your answer. Thank you and great job guys. I am planning on building an OB Van as well, so I am learning from you guys.
At the time this video was released, nothing from the Mackie mixer goes to the Unity intercom. The producer mic from the Mackie goes to an Aux Send which went back to the announcers headsets only. For the crew intercom, the directors mic would go into Unity and yes, everyone would hear the same thing. The director would be talking to the crew and they would all hear his cues.
@@jrmvideo I did not know you had a Unity system setup there. Thank you very much for the explanation.
Loving the BTS. Hope to work with your team in the near future.
I have a few questions, also love the video, not even midway through the video but got questions😂: Have you guys had to use your own internet at a high school stadium? We’re going to start doing local sports broadcasts, and I know some of the fields in our league don’t have internet up in their press box and I would like to know what’s the best solution to that.
Yes, 95% of the time the venue has internet available for us. We are in communication with the schools IT teams several weeks before a broadcast date to ensure speeds, reliability and open ports. The rare case internet is not available, we will use a LiveU pack to transmit signal. This uses cellular bonding to send out the broadcast to any location you desire. They are very pricy so we rent per occasion basis.
Liked and subbed!! Your content deserves a service like S M Z E U S!
How much was the total build of the unit, including the trailer?
That is extremely difficult to say. We are always adding equipment to the trailer. When we got started in 2020, the trailer itself was around $6,000 and we put another $15,000 in building supplies and equipment into the trailer to get started with the bare minimum. Since then, it's been constant additional upgrades.
What is the total weight of the trailer, including the trailer, because I am looking to build one? I am looking at using a Ford Transit Connect that can tow up to 2000 pounds or do I need something with more towing capabilities?
We've never had the trailer weighed but if I were to guess, I'd say right about or less than 2,000lbs. Two people can lift the trailer by the tongue so it's not extremely heavy.
What is the total weight of the trailer, including the trailer, because I am looking to build one? I am looking at using a Ford Transit Connect that can tow up to 2000 pounds or do I need something with more towing capabilities?
We've never had it weighed but I would guess at or under 2,000 pounds.
Now that you have the Van and the Trailer for a bit, what are you pros and cons you are finding with each?
Honestly, there's not many. We pretty much know what each vehicle offers. We typically only use the trailer for bigger productions and the van for smaller ones. The van is nice because it doesn't require a vehicle for towing, and it's easy to park at a venue. While both offer different working experiences, both can still achieve the same goal of producing the same level broadcast.
awesome video guys, very very good job! I need to build a press box and I would like to talk to some of you to see how we can do it.
Very nice. You guys did an awesome job!! I am curious about the raspberry PI interface. How does that work exactly? Thanks, LJ
This is awesome. Been following you guys from the first trailer build. Great job.
Appreciate it!
Great stuff! I've been doing high school football and baseball broadcast and production for about 6 years and the level that you guys are doing this is amazing. I would love to know how you guys are incorporating scoreboard into LiveScore. I normally dedicate a camera to keep the clock and I have someone else keep score on an iPad. It would be awesome if I could link directly with the field scoreboard like you're doing.
Thank you! The way we obtain scoreboard data is difficult and probably our most asked question. The basics are, we use a Sportzcast ScoreLink to connect to the venue scoreboard. That plugs into our network and we’re able to pull the raw XML Data into live score from there.
@@jrmvideo thanks for getting back to me. What kind of sideline mic do you use and what's the range? I normally have a sideline reporter but the wireless audio range has been spotty at best.
what software do you use for your graphics?
UNO Overlays. Pretty sweet free graphics software. Other graphics we use are designed in Photoshop.
This BTS content is 🔥 !! Thanks for sharing!
Hey can you guys do one of these videos for soccer/football I love soccer and would love to see one?
Unfortunately, we don’t broadcast soccer. Maybe one day!
How do you get your drone(aerial view) into your production gear?
We use DJI drone systems. Specifically, the DJI Smart Controller which has an HDMI out with the live video feed. We’ll just take that HDMI and convert it to SDI for our switcher.
Could you please post the links to the fiber cables and converters you use? That would be a great help for some of us looking to get into fiber. Personally, i never got into fiber because I thought it was way out my league in terms of prices, but when you mentioned some of the prices, i was flabbergasted, for real. So PLEASE POST THE LINKS TO ALL THE FIBER STUFF YOU USE. Thanks in advanced and keep up the good work and much success.
what wireless systems you use for the mobile cam?
We use all Accsoon products for our wireless needs. I highly recommend them. We’ve had zero issues with them for multiple years now.
Very well done. You guys running dual or triple roles in the truck with TD/GFX for one and Audio/Replay/probably something else. You're both obviously skilled, and this is a huge cost savings per show, but what do you do if you have an engineering issue to solve and one of you has to step away to fix?
Thank you! That is a very good question and it’s a recent issue we’ve encountered with the growing size of each production. Specifically for the football broadcasts, Cory our drone pilot has been with JRM since day one and understands the workflow of all the roles and technology involved with our productions. If we have an issue mid-show, he will step away from his role as drone pilot to go solve said issue. It’s worked out because we can sacrifice a live drone shot as he goes and tends to a problem. So he’s pretty much the engineer as well.
What softwhere are you using for your telestrator?
It's a custom built software
@@jrmvideocan you tell more about it?
@@robertgrafe8775 Too much to explain, it's custom coded for a Microsoft tablet but I would check out "Video Pencil" for IOS devices. We just discovered this and it would've solved many issues for us. Software just came out a year ago
Finally!
where do you get your graphics from and what software do you use?
We create most of the graphics in-house via photoshop but any of the animated ones are from UNO Overlay by Singular.live
