Who here from Com-102?
Thank you for this beautiful rendition ....
I also sang this piece at WV All State Choir 1988...what great memories this recording brings.
Very happy to have stumbled upon this just now-it brought back many warm memories of this time in my life. Thank you! :)
This is NOT Sing Praises. This choir is singing Clap Your Hands by Pfautsch
The title of this piece is "Sing Praises.". Perhaps you're looking for his Sing praise to God.
Best version IMO 🙏🏼
I listen to this every night before drifting off to sleep...it fills me with unconditional Love for ALL CREATION.
Hi Linda. The choir is a group of University undergraduates. Thanks for the compliment!
I cannot describe how much i love this madrigal! It makes me shiver or cry or both! You guys did a lovely job!
Great arrangement April. Nice to see your still at it!
Beautiful song, I'm so glad I found the lyrics because I could not make them out for my life. The text is so powerful!! Wow...
Wow! Beautiful, clear voices, beautiful song!
I sang this in an SSA arrangement in the early 70s. So beautiful!
good job everyone ! greetings from indonesia
A Wonderful performance!
Can I buy a copy of this performance of just the song "Steal Away"?
beautiful!
i had to sing it for chorus this year :D
Amazing!
Nice to hear it in SATB form.
Amazing!
Good but could use some taller vowels.
Wow. The text is absolutely breathtaking
I was listening to this and reading the score. Brought tears to my eyes. Very inspiring.
Such an innocent and tender sound, so graceful.
Great energy and sense of direction. Moderately captures the spirit of the piece. You guys need to work on intonation though, particularly the sopranos. Modulation through the roof!
One of my favorite choral pieces, from long ago.
Awesome! We did this piece in high school with the WV All State Choir and I have loved it ever since!
The happiest 6 weeks of my life. And I only got to do it once. I didn't even go back up to any of the campuses (they were at S.U.N.Y. Cortland for a few years in the late 80's) for a weekend just to hear the kids that were coming up after me. Yeah...Thomas Brown, his wife Grace, their daughter Kathy on flute and marimba and xylophone (who I never talked to), their son David on clarinet and saxes (who I HATED), their son in law Sean on trumpet (Kathy's husband)...and so many others.
Yeah... I LOVED being with these people when we were at Bard College. I consider it the happiest 6 weeks of my entire life. Even with the relentless flies, the very sudden changes in weather, the constant "being yelled at" by professional musicians (simply because they had only 6 DAYS to get us ready from first sight on Monday to performance on Saturday Night or Sunday Afternoon). I wish that I could go back in time so that I could've found enough money to go back in 1982.
As I remember it...every student was REQUIRED to sing in Concert Choir and the oldest person that was allowed to sing in Concert Choir back then couldn't be older than 24 years old. So some of the counselors didn't sing this song, but 75 high school age students did a bang up job. This was back in the days with Thomas Brown, and Steven Squires, and Joseph Crupi, and Bryan Kidd, and Andy Weinzler, and a few other who may have been known at that time or have become known since then.
I remember doing this song 30 YEARS AGO at the Eastern U.S. Music Camp when it was at Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson NY in the summer of 1981. The girls dorm for that summer was Robbins House and the boys dorm was Ward Manor. On the Bard College PDF map they're both near C1 at the top of the map. 30 years ago at least 10 of the buildings around campus that are standing today weren't even on the drawing board yet.
Nice work, gentlemen!!
That is just gorgeous. Great job CCU; I miss singing with you.
Beautiful! God be Praised!
This is my favorite version of this madrigal. Very beautifully done guys.
I remember singing this with you, Ike. :) And Mr. B too! I think he stole it from you.
Excellent! Absolute perfection!
Nice job on the Soprano solo Shelby!
