Fernando Sor's Estudio No. 6 played on a Collings OM-1C. It sounds quite different played on this steel-string guitar instead of a nylon-string classical.
Blind Blake's Rag

"Blind Blake's Rag" by British singer/songwriter Ralph McTell. My playing is a little ragged, but it sure is a fun song. The guitar is a Gibson Keb Mo.

Sounds beautiful man, had on repeat 3 times
Thanks. Bruce Cockburn is a real treasure.
I should be so ragged....nice pickin'.
Nice job! Well done.
Awesome playing!
Great stuff!
"On The Road" by John Hartford is in 5/4
Found your video due to me questioning: how do I sing both “simply irresistible… she’s so fine there’s..” as a solo… killed it. Shredding and great singing 🙌🏻
Great rendition. Very nice.
Robert has always been amazing in music! I remember him playing the piano when he could barely reach the keys!
Robert is world class! ❤️💥
Dear Lordy!!
Savant!
Beautiful. If you aren't already a dobro fan - this will do it for you. Mike Higgins editor- Bluegrass Canada magazine
AMAZING! Thank you, Sir.
Miles the family needs you when you get out of prison from those sloth fighting charges you.
I love the description of the AJ's tone as "reverent" and "harp- like"; my 1937 J-35 has an extremely strong, mandolin- like treble cut when played near the bridge. Mine has the same smooth "subtle throatiness" to the bass too.
Very nice!
Damn, where'd he come from!
excellent bro
Well done
I'd like to hear Robert Bowlin play Capricho Catalan.
Excellent!
I like this tuning a lot. You use it so well with slide. It also lends itself to Celtic kind of stuff. That top D is something new for me.
Me too! Whether it's on my 12-string or my grand concert, this tuning makes the guitar really ring out!
Very nice indeed, I'm wondering how come that in the "Doc Watson days" you did not sing!
One of the best guitarists in the whole fucking world!
Great chat lesson. I’m going to go flat that F# on my steel guitar.
Love it. Tef available? Thanks
Beautiful
How? Just, how? So damn lovely. Music at its best. Well done, lads. Beautiful.
Cool cat! Effortless bass playing, and can keep track of his toothpick even while singing. Love Irl's style!

Sounds good 2me
What tuning is this?
Open D. The strings are D A D F# A D.
@@rustyshackleford7322 thanks so much for that. I'm seeing a lot of great guitar pieces in open D lately - it might be a tuning to explore.
who is playing guitar on this video?
Gerald Jones, the camp director. Like Robert, Gerald plays a bunch of instruments very, very well.
God I love this!
It's quite incredible Django Reinhardt did this with two or maybe 3 fingers... He got me going after my middle finger was amputated. No excuses for only having 3 fingers and a thumb! I'd been performing with a highly accomplished, critically acclaimed violinist at festivals and shows for 16 years before he noticed it was gone one night after a 6 hour barndance session. The expression on his face was comical to say the least when he saw the stump. Thank you Django!
Who is the bassist? She is really together on that thang...
Wil Maring is on bass. She is a wonderful singer-songwriter.
Such talent! Thanks for bringing this to us in South Africa, Rusty!
Fantastic!
Sounds great! Probably a question that cannot really be answered, but for someone starting out on their first open tuning, would you advise Open C (the third on the first string) or Open D (root on the first string)?
What are some songs in open tunings that you like and that you can realistically learn? That should guide your choice
@@Sendobren Thanks for the tip! Good one. Basically folk classics like House of the rising sun, Blowing in the wind, If tomorrow wasn't such a long time...
@@seenonyt2210 Aren't those all in standard tuning? I was asking more if you have some songs that you really want to learn in a specific open tuning, and that could guide your choice. For instance if you really like Sunflower River Blues by John Fahey, then definitely start with Open C. What I was getting at is that if you have songs that you can realistically learn in that tuning its really going to help you with your exploration. The tuning its just a tool, in my mind, to produce some particular sounds that you really like.
@@Sendobren you are fully right. I get your point. I was just looking for new musical ideas for well-known songs by changing the possibility space of what can be (easily) fingered. But indeed for songs written in specific tunings you are fully right, that would help me in the exploration. Thanks again for your help.
Love it. I appreciate all the work I took you to get there!
Albert Collins an SRV copycat lol!
Yeah, I caught that. The opposite may be more accurate.
Need a good rhythm guitar player.....
Great job Irl
Anyone has an idea about what Martin model is Robert playing?
some kind of 000-18
1944 000-21
COOL
COOL
Thanks for posting this! Love it!!!!
Sounds a little like Joe Venuti to me.
