タービンが高速回転する音です。
The whining is from the shape/angle of the gear the driver is shifting through. In a regular street car, with a standard transmission, you never hear a whine that matches your speed perfectly; this is because the forward moving gears are all cut to be helical, at an angle other than 90 degrees of the gear's direction of rotation. Manual trans street cars will usually have reverse as a straight cut gear, so when they back up at a decent speed you'll hear the same whine. Straight cut gears are much stronger, and last forever, but they are SIGNIFICANTLY louder and most people would never want a car with straight cut gears. Imagine never being able to hear anything, except a screaming tranny, any time you got on the accelerator. Shit wouldn't be cool for very long if you had to commute in a car with straight gears.
@@lidpwnsuin fact they don't last longer. Obviously... But they are a tiny bit more efficient and also much cheaper to manufacture, obviously. And since the noise doesn't matter in race cars and also they take apart the engine on a daily basis so swapping gears is not a big issue as you'd have it usually, ofc that's what they go for then.

A VW Golf GTI TCR sounds better than any current F1 car … 😂 I grew up with V12 and V10 in F1 and they had an absolute brilliant sound … there’s nothing to compare with.
