Cool I loved
Great video. The mood is captured very well. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to film? - We once shot a trailer for our theater ensemble, the result of which is extremely short (46sec) , but alone lasted almost 6 hours!!!! 😵💫
Filmmaking definitely takes time! This project took one and a half days to shoot. Plus a bunch of rehearsal hours. ☺
@@JoannaGaskell The time expenditure fits almost exactly on top of each other. 🥳 Making films is really time-consuming fun. Greetings and Happy Easter!
No idea, but I loved it.
I LOVE this!!!!
That was ... unique. I like it!
Haha thank you! Yes. Definitely unique. 😉
This was awesome! Great job!
Thank you! 😊
That was an adventure. Thanks Joanna, and everybody involved.
Haha thanks for watching! 😊
Wonderful
Thanks, Nick!!
Thank you for making these. I only go outside every two weeks for groceries, and watching these made me not so alone. That night you, Eric Fell, and I got a drink together is still my favorite vacation memory. -Your super fan from Texas.
Oh goodness, I can't believe I didn't see this message!! Thank you for your kind words, and reminding me of happier social times. :) Take care!
RUclips don't show me such things when I'm drinking greater potion of productivity. Now I need to clean my monitor. Great work, the fin was unpredictable. :D
Hahaha thank you!! Sorry about your monitor! 😁
this is cute
Thanks!
Overall, it's funny and goofy and the effect of the woman appearing in the scene with smoke works really well, but some context for the end, I feel like I'm missing something?
Nope. You're not missing anything! I promise, it's just silly. There's nothing to get, except possibly a laugh.
Because pants are hard!
Benoit survives, casually leaves without healing anybody. Yup, that's Benoit.
Teeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee
Hope you are enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
Very much. ☺
Loved catching your critical hit show show, after the fact
Thanks for tuning in!! 😁
And yes, we all hate running :p
Phew! Not just me. ☺
Last one, sweet !
When do you release the Directors Cut of these blogs? Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and good luck with Day 15 and beyond.
Hahaha you're seeing them! 😊
The Florida governor just ordered a 30 day self quarantine. So match that challenge and get back in the house!
Noooo! I mean yay Florida. But don't make me stay out of the sun!! 😁
4 more days for me
You can do it!!
Enjoy! Don't be a stranger! :)
Thank you! <3
I imagine you've been outside by now, it's different than in the Before Time but still worthwhile. Congratulations, and enjoy your new freedom! But still, of course, remain indoors.
I did indeed go outside. It was strange. Very different, but nice to get some fresh air and see something other than the inside of my apartment. :)
I feel a debt of gratitude to you for sharing your journey with us. I am glad you are free and able to head out for something so simple as a walk. I feel you about running. It is hard to get into it for me, I never enjoy running just for running - I prefer conditioning for activities I like doing, so since the gym is closed I have been shadow rolling and boxing a lot, much to the delight of my dog, Hooligan, who loves to turn all of that into a good tussle. Anyway, congrats on making it to the end of your self-quarantine! Live long, live strong, and thank you for sharing your journey with us.
You're very welcome! Yeah, I went for a walk today, and it was pretty hard. But it was nice to move my legs! Bahahaha your dog's name is Hooligan! That's so great. :D
@@JoannaGaskell Yeah, he is a Catahoula and a 70 lbs total goofball of a lap dog.
Whoo you made it! Congrats! Enjoy the running and fresh air and thanks for the vlogging inspiration.
I made it!!! Thank you! <3
Congratulations! Have fun getting outside. :)
Thank you! It was so great to see that the world still exists. :)
@@JoannaGaskell Right? I'm up early, so I try to get out for a walk around the block before anyone else is around. So it's nice to get outside, but I never see anyone. By the by, I sort of picked up your torch. All this month I am doing a video a day, reading an excerpt from an indie RPG. If you get a chance, please check them out. Take care!
Yay! Have fun! ETA: Running might be a good hobby if this turns into a zombie apocalypse...
Very true!! Haha :D
Congrats on the 14 days and thanks for doing it. Hope that walk felt good!
Thank you! And it felt amazing - so many cherry trees in bloom!
I'm so happy you finished your two weeks! I am a little sad that we won't get to see you on RUclips as often but I'm so glad you are free! Stay safe and healthy!
FREEDOM!! :D
Congratulations on making it to the other side! You did awesome and you are inspiring. You go enjoy your day in the sun. 😉
Thank you! The outside world is a little different than it was, but it's still nice to have a change of scenery and some fresh air. :)
The expectation of keeping my creativity going is hard on my creativity. I agree about this pandemic causing grief. Our game group isn't meeting now and so I miss that event.
Very true!! The pressure is real. I hope you can find an online social/gaming substitute!
It probably doesn't apply 100%, simply because my hobbies and creative outlets are more solitary activities, but at least part of it should... when I know that I'll need to be creative/productive at some point, but can't focus, I tend to do the research, planning, note taking, etc. If my focus is particularly bad, I do the freeform thinking and brainstorming stuff for as many projects as I can think of. I just scribble it down. Then associate it when I'm a little better, and then research, and so on. I always wanted to use higher number dice with sometimes unrelated subjects and actions to make up stories... never got around to trying it.
I think for me, creativity is really cramped by stress. So I just need to figure out a way to manage my stress levels so that I can feel available for creative pursuits. I'll get there!
I'm trying to focus on more positive things, like the fact that I can still communicate with friends and the fact that less people out means less pollution for our planet! There is a lot I could complain about but focusing on the negative isn't helping if I can't change it. So happy your 2 weeks is nearly at an end! Congrats!
Thank you! Yes, there are a bunch of positive things that we can focus on, if we feel able to do that. I'm kind of amazed at the immense feeling of gratitude I have for small things I never cared about before. <3
Looking forward on seeing the animation. Walking is great!
I'm so excited to go for a WALK. Hahaha. :)
Glad you're feeling better. The witcher gets better over time, just be aware their are time jumps that are not well explained at the start. Walking around for exercise is a wierd dance where everybody walks around each other. Last night, there was just one car on the road and it had been pulled over by the police. Then a bit after there was a guy in a car at the local funeral home, with another police car pulled up nearby. Very surreal.
I definitely noticed that! Got a little confused there for a sec. I do enjoy it when shows throw curveballs like that, but it might have been worthwhile to have some onscreen text.
I'm always a sucker for epic fantasy soap operas, and I will definitely watch the next season of The Witcher. But oh man did I have some problems with the costumes (and lense choices, CG, etc). I haven't read the books or played the games, but I hear from good sources it is closer to the books, fwiw.
Vanessa!! Yeah, I'm finding it pretty entertaining! Though even *I* was a little disappointed in the costume choices, and I'm usually pretty forgiving. I think choices in terms of the cinematography and general production design could have been made to make the show just way more EPIC... but then again, I also get the feeling that that's just not what this show is. Soap opera for sure. :)
Really glad you're feeling better! I'm also a bit conflicted about Trudeau. His first instincts seem bad; his first take on the layoffs was "everybody apply for EI," which was always guaranteed to produce an insanely long backlog. It's cool that he changed his mind and went with the NDP idea of "give 'em enough money to get through this, worry about taxing it back from the rich later," since it shows he'll listen to better ideas, but I think he really needs that check on his initial plans so I'm glad he doesn't have a majority. As a fellow Vancouverite, I'm also happy to hear the modelling shows some slowing of the growth rate. But the math nerd in me knows that a lower rate of exponential growth is still not a good scenario, so I still recommend everybody just chill until we get a good string of "no new cases reported." Seeing so many people out and about when the weather was nice yesterday afternoon was a bit of a warning flag for me. Now I have to go pick a mini to paint along with Eric Fell's stream tonight. Be well!
Agreed with all of this. I didn't notice people out yesterday in my neighbourhood! That's disappointing that there were a lot of people out in yours - hopefully they were keeping a safe distance from one another. Oh yay! I'm glad you're tuning in to Eric's paint stream!! I'll pop in as well, though I don't have anything to paint, currently.
Lol. Paying attention to American news? *There's* your problem. 😝
It's hard not to! It's such a train wreck reality show.
@@JoannaGaskell Hahaha! Okay, but just like us Americans, you actually have to treat it as a bad reality show. Is Corona virus serious? Canada canceled hockey, so, yes.🚫🏒 How does one keep from getting sick? Proper hygiene and social distancing. 😷 There. Summed it up. How the American media can drag it out to 24/7 coverage is a mystery. 🤷♂️
Youre gonna make it Joanna!
I might just!!
The quest for the perfect squeak! Squeakquest? That sounds like fun. The Witcher is really pretty good - I think a number of fans of the game don't like it much which may be one of its best recommendations. And finally, as a U.S. citizen, I really am jealous of Canada's Prime Minister. Have a good one all.
Yeah, I'm liking The Witcher!! And we Canadians accept your envy with compassion and pity. ;)
Glad to see you feeling better. The grocery cravings are real, I may or may not have ordered an ice cream cake to be dropped in front of my place yesterday. You bet I was watching the door to make sure it didn't get forgotten and melt! :p
Hahaha that's amazing!! :D
Glad you're feeling better! Stay safe and healthy!
Thank you! :)
I recognize your feelings. There are a lot of people experiencing these feelings, but usually they don't share it on social media. Thank you for being open and real.
You're welcome. It helps me to share! :)
Sorry that you feel so down, like others are saying, it's totally normal to go through all the emotions. Hope you feel better come tomorrow. No one can do everything and all anyone can do is their best on any given day. Social media tends to be a highly curated view of life rather than a true representation of a whole. We're all rooting for you! (and each other!) Excited to see your stop motion when the time is right :)
Thank you! Yes, it's hard to accept sometimes, but we are all doing our best. :)
Not that you need to be told this or anything, but... in the same that it's okay to feel happy (see a few days ago) it's perfectly okay to feel, or even be, sad. As for details... I think one of the biggest concepts people who try to teach film (and storytelling in general) seem to routinely get across is that the emotion (i.e. impact on your audience) of a scene/take is more important than all the rest combined. Like... there was a video, heck if I remember what channel it was, that challenged viewers to find all the continuity errors... and, as fun as that was, the point of the video was that when it comes to determining what takes to include... 51% of what matters is the impact of that scene... all the rest is just additional whatnots. Unnecessary disclaimer: Just rambling about something I have very little experience in but have done a ton of recreational research on... cuz filmmaking is awesomesauce. Take care! :)
I'm still very, very grateful for incredible costume, makeup, sound, colour correction, lighting, VFX, props, production design experts who have an incredible aptitude for attention to detail in their jobs that I lack. :) Take care!!
All the virtual hugs I and Tugger can give! One thing about social media is to stop looking at anything not related to family or friends. It is tough but I have gone so far as to uninstall all SM apps from my phone. And I have to say your way of dealing with depression is better than mine, I put my earbuds in and binge anything to keep me out of my own shit. I could be putting the time to write on D&D or Call of Cthulhu adventures but will often vanish into anything rather than dealing with my own skull. You should be proud of your courage, to put yourself out like this is a big scary thing. But you are providing that point that is inspiring and also keeping many of us going. I look forward to hearing from you every day and I know others do too.
Virtual hugs from me and Millie! Yes, I've definitely gone through periods of uninstalling social media apps. In these times I'm a little torn, because social media is one of the ways I can feel connected. It's a mixed blessing for sure. It's taken me a long time to stop avoiding my feelings, usually by working. I work to bury the bad feelings in distraction. But though allowing myself to feel bad is scary, I've learned that it's fleeting. I've figured out that if I let myself go there, the really dark darkness only lasts for a few minutes. Afterwards I'm lighter, and the darkness is less scary. I hope I can show people that they're allowed to feel darkness as well. And that they'll make it through! <3
I'm having a tough time sharing this. The short version is Edmonton sucks. Hang on you're almost through
That sucks that Edmonton sucks. Talking about the things that suck helps! :) Thanks - almost through this one particular section, anyway. ;)
I feel this so much. Yesterday I had planned to do a bunch of things. And I managed to eat, nap, and watch some videos. Sometimes we do what we can, and making it another day is accomplishment enough. You made it, you're enough, and the next day comes.
I'm so glad I'm not alone in this! Thank you. <3
@@JoannaGaskell I also mentioned this on Twitter, but it bears repeating here for anyone who needs a bit of a cool pick-me-up: Bare Naked Ladies have been posting selfy cam jams for the last little while, each phoning in their parts from home. It's been fun, worth checking out if you're a BNL fan.
