Sten Stensson (Nils Poppe), an A-student at the University in Lund, comes to the big city Stockholm, where he unwillingly gets into a jitterbug competition as he tries to warn the youth at a night club, among others a young female, from the poisonus criminating swing music.

Similar you can get to see at the Santa Cruz Carnaval, held every year in February.

The skilled Salsa/ Mambo teacher Angel Rodriguez from New York City here tells a story from these dancers point of view - but also Lindy Hoppers who doesn´t wish to get stuck might get to learn some from it. Earlier generations at least seem to have had their eyes open in more directions - so why don´t we do the same and kiss some back? PS. At the end of this clip Angel by mistake says "hustle ...

As Al Minns was 64 y o when he was in Sweden in 1984, this would mean that this newsclip, telling he´s here 61 y o, then ought to be from the year 1981 or possibly 1980. Perhaps someone knows the exact date of this clip? (I´ve altered the year Al Minns was in Stockholm to 1984, one year later, and following also the presumed year of this clip - telling people who have earlier read the text above.)

Recorded 1984 in Stockholm - at the wrestling club Athén, Bondegatan 10, where back then Swedish Swing Society had their training once a week. (I´ve altered the year when Al Minns visited Stockholm, from 1983 to 1984 - and I think this now is correct.)

"In jazzdancing, swingdancing, you have no way of comparing (between dancers), cause each one is an individual, where as in ballet you have the same routines, so therefore you can compare Baryshnicow against Nurjejev doing the same routine, so therefore you can say that one dancer is better than the other. Tap dancers, lindy hoppers and swing dancers - no one does the same routines." - Al Minns

Dancing in this video we have Jörgen Olofsson and Anki Holmberg, two of the very best dancers we back then had in Sweden. I still keep Jörgen as being the best swedish dancer I´ve seen, also in the respect that he was all original in style.
