Surely nothing will ever top Dusty's version. Still, credit where credit is due, and this stripped down version is a worthy interpretation of one of the greatest songs of the 60s (and since). I have just previously listened to Paul Young's live version from the 80s (I only discovered today). It is an uptempo Motown-style version (think The Supremes) that is a bit too brisk tempo-wise to enable the lyrics to make their point. And to my surprise Tracy Ullman did a version that is surprisingly good ('surprisingly' as I never think of her as a singer). But the version here is much more personal than any of them, Dusty's included, so it warrants its own place and should not be compared to the rest.

I like this song but probably used to the SAW Sonia version as it has a more upbeat tempo. This is still lovely, a different stance, very nice voice Denise. Gone are the days of a dodgy live feed voice in the whirlybird to now lol

We've all heard the insipid gutless versions of great songs that seem to be in every advert these days. This is a lesson in how to cover a song properly. A great vocal performance, amazing arrangement and a proper understanding of the lyrics. Makes me feel disloyal to the original for liking this so much!
