What can you find in the middle of the desert?
Просмотров 49421 день назад
We took our cameras, and our drone on old highway 80 towards the Gillespie Dam and Bridge. What seems like a desolate, long highway is actually very interesting if you look carefully. We found some unusual things like a water ski community in the middle of the desert.; loads of solar farms (Arizona is making a huge commitment to solar). A drive with a gate to nowhere; of course, the now famous ...

Off of 60, take Queen Valley road to Hewitt Canyon road. After a short drive, you will find a sign for the Woodbury Trailhead, take a left at the wash. We wanted to focus on this part of the road so we drove in to about 2 miles from the trailhead. We drove slow as there is a lot of erosion on the road. Bumpy road! We did the trail in 2 hours in and out. 14 total miles. Years ago we went through the entire area taking several different roads ending up at Oak Flat. Its quite stunning.

Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed the video. It's just under 50 miles one way. We spent the entire day, driving, hiking and photographing, but you can easily drive through it in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours at about 15/20 mph. We stopped at the ranger station to inquire about the road conditions before we set out. If you do decide to go, you will not regret it. Best wishes! 🙂

Thank you for your kind remarks. The section between Fish Creek Hill overlook and mile post 227 is still closed. The state of Arizona is currently working with the Federal government to reopen this section, but it sounds like it's going to take some time before anything happens.

@@gajproductions1431 You're welcome...you can 't necessarily please everybody - including me!...I just happen to be in the " no music" preference group...had you made the video without music, then the "with music" preference group might have complained (or not watched it)... I'm from PA and expecting to move out to the SW desert region particularly for the barrenness and quietude...thanks anyway for giving me a visual taste ...blessings...🙂 P.S. I could still mute my sound when watching it...such "adaptation skills" may come in handy if I end up nomading in the desert there!...
