i have a question as i am in the market for a second hand machine, i am kind of looking for a big screen on a budget, my workload is not that high, how does the video editing perform in this machine especially with a dedicated gpu? do the fans randomly kick in if i am just watching to a movie, everyone saying go for an m1, are absolutely right but it is a bit expensive for my budget, and what it doesnt have a 15 inches of screen, so if i go for this machine what am i loosing i do ocassional video edits less than a minutes, and i browse in safari max 5 to 6 tabs open at once, not a huge multi tasking person, how well would it serve me as per my workflow.

Ok, first thing it is impossible to discern 1ms - 5ms of latency. above 60hz you only feel the responsiveness. Seeing most games on PS4 like you stated run at 30hz, 60 is more than enough, Lastly 4k 120hz - 240 hz costs $2000 AUD This monitor is only 300 bucks, IPS is superior to VA and TN panels, a 27 inch 4k monitor is so pixel dence even if you run your games in 1080p it will look better than any other native 27 inch 1080p monitor. Don't PC shame people for not having the ultra quality items, when you look at the steam servey's 90% of people still play in 1080p on a 5 year old GPU. 2018 will always be the year I will avoid for apple laptops. My 2018 air had 2 failed keyboards, my 2018 pro had a failed keyboard and failed charging system. Maybe just my luck who knows, i've had better luck with the 2017s somehow.

Yep! I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 16 64gb ram 1tb i9! bulletproof! Music production video editing Divinchi 4k! Had this from new! On cooling I use a cooling pad and have re thermal pasted! Cleaning the fans regularly is a good idea! Amazing machine! No reason for me to change! To get the same spec with the new M Series is crazy bucks!

Thanks for the Vid and info. I'm using a 2018 15-inch i7, 16GB. It's running Sonoma 14.3.1. Up to now, this has been a fantastic machine and was a huge upgrade on my 2013 MBP at the time of purchase. I'm a freelance training designer so I put the laptop through its paces daily using editing software and multi-tasking over various things, Photoshop, XD, Powerpoint and e-learning software. I'm finding it is slowing down and having to work really hard......sometimes maxing out the RAM. Battery life has really reduced. Like you, I rarely use the touch bar other than for fingerprint. This device has never let me down and has been fantastic. I'm undecided about what model to upgrade to. Apple doesn't now have the 15-inch option so.............do I go up to 16 and ultimately spend more cash or is the difference between the 15 and the new 14 insignificant so therefore not really noticing the change in screen size.

I have a 2018 MBP with 32GB of ram. I am getting an M2 Pro 14 with 16 gig for the daily driver. The major weakness of the 2018 for me is the battery life. I am looking forward to the 10-12+ hours without charging. The 2018 might get 4 hours or so but in fairness i use it for video editing and it stutters sometimes on Resolve with the audio. Otherwise no issues with the keyboard or the touch bar. I have a protector on the keyboard. The question is do i get rid of the 2018 now for 600 to 700 now and go for an M1 air 15 inch with 8 or 16gig of ram or do i just keep the 2018 at home in clamshell mode and just use it until the wheels come off with support and use OpenCore after that. The other scenario is to save the m2 for video editing and get the M1 air to be the one in the bag as the daily all the time. Those are the 2 scenarios.
