Kastaniani (or Kastani) is a mountainous village of the Regional Unit of Ioannina at an altitude of 640 meters. Kastaniani is located next to the border of Greece with Albania and is historically included in the villages of Pogoni and in fact belongs to the villages of Lakka Pogoni. It is 66 km. NW. from Ioannina and 31 km. from Kalpaki. The village is built on a hill overlooking southern Albania and the Dropoli plain, in an area with running water, overgrown with horse chestnuts and plane trees.
