    Good on you Lynda - put your foot down, it's not good enough! I really hope you can get another plot soon, it'll be wonderful to see you start with something else. I definitely would not be continuing with this one - try to keep every receipt or proof of purchase for the expensive items you have paid for if you can, as proof of all you have spent there - although that might be a big ask if it were a while ago. Take some photos of your shed etc as well. Keep all the letters and emails they have sent as well. Good luck, keep us posted!

      @@makingmebetter8078 I have controlled my daughter's diet for 16 years with just clean eating. I cook everything from scratch, including bread. But she needs excessive amounts of NATURAL vitamin C. Red meat is definitely not something she can eat a lot of as it doesn't contain any of the nutrients she needs. So The Lion Diet in my opinions is nutrient deficient and not good for someone with severe autoimmune diseases. Thank you for your input though 😊

    Another problem is that councils are obliged by law to provide alternative suitable sites. Unfortunately, any available uncontaminated sites nearby are worth £millions as suitable for newbuild houses and apartment buildings. The governments (past and more recent (including present) have been successful in adding little hidden clauses in planning laws to rid the rights of homeowners and allotment plot holders from having areas in which to grow their own food. Some laws under the guise of net zero and the need to house working age people.

  • @amandar7719
    @amandar7719 20 дней назад

    Where I live, Lynda, there are allotments wanted by a Tory run council for use in its 30,000 house build programme. Allotment holders were to be offered other sites in exchange for their “perfect house build site”. The site offered local to me was a brown site 2 miles away from where the plot holders live and was condemned as being too contaminated to build homes on. The cheek!!! Gardeners should also be aware that top soil merchants often get their soils skimmed off potentially contaminated sites that house builders have been required to remove before breaking ground. These sites are often old farms/barns, and satellite town warehouse type areas with asbestos roofed barns/buildings/factories etc where decades of rubbish and trash/oils was disposed. Contamination is all around us and within us now. We obviously have to live with it whether we grow our own food or not. Except for the hydroponic grown food in the tunnel farms beneath central London funded entirely by grants from the EU to the startup community of their mates. These serve the high end restaurants, hotels and government institutions in central London. So it’s not as if our governments have not been aware that home growers are a nuisance to policy. And treated with such contempt for years.

    OMG Lynda! How absolutely devastating after all your hard work to be told your land is unsafe to grow veg on. Have googled it and it says that growing crops on land contaminated with PFAS is dangerous and can lead to liver damage, thyroid disease, obesity, fertility issues and cancer. Apparently the land can never be cleaned up so cannot grow crops on it again. I hope that the veg that you grew and have eaten was in sufficient amount of compost that the roots did not reach the contaminated soil. I hope that you will be able to get another allotment plot somewhere else that is not contaminated. At least you still have to garden to grow veg in. Extremely sorry that this has happened to you. Has brought tears to my eyes. Good luck Lynda.😢😢😢😢

    Hi Lynda, so sorry to hear about this, I live in Fleetwood so did know about this situation. I have a plot at Larkholme allotments in Fleetwood and would be devastated if this was happening to me. Our a!allotments are not far away from yours but they are not what was ICI so should be ok. We are under FWD Council so no longer in the same jurisdiction however there are empty plots on our site. It's a massive annoyance because the waiting list is long but there are plots that are seriously overgrown and affecting the plot holders who do care for theirs. I hope you can get some support and positive action going, we would absolutely love to see people who are real growers and allotmenters like yourself on our site. God Bless x
