Retro Hound
Добавлен 4 сен 2011
TURN THE RADIO UP dudes and dudettes! Retro Hound here to sniff out all those great songs you remember exactly the WAY you remember them. Take a trip back to the days when Top 40 radio played the latest single by those great artists who actually took great care in putting out well-crafted music, not just money-grab product. Return to the excitement of hearing the greatest singles from, according to Barry Scott of "The Lost 45s" syndicated radio show, the greatest decade of the hit single. Now don't go looking for the same old standard songs that you hear on the same old radio formats... Because you won't hear them on this channel. No, instead revel in all the great hit singles the way they were meant to be heard - only in their remixed/edited/extended single version glory exactly the way you remember on the radio. So what are you waiting for? Stack up those 45s and crank up the dial! Have we got a show for you...
Tom Petty - Down The Line (B-Side)
From the third single, Free Fallin', released from his ubiquitous Full Moon Fever album, this is the non-album B-side from the US Cassette Single. Written by Petty and his bandmate Mike Campbell, it's easy to see why this didn't fit into Full Moon Fever. With its horn section it seems to me it would have fit in nicely on Southern Accents. Another quality B-side from Petty, an American original. Ah, back when music was fun and knew in order to entice us, they needed to offer us something new, i.e. previously unreleased B-sides and live cuts. Not to mention exclusive remixes, dance mixes, etc. What a concept! Enjoy!

Tom Petty - Free Fallin' (Cassette Single Version)
Просмотров 462 месяца назад
Released as the third single from his ubiquitous Full Moon Fever album, this is taken from the US Cassette Single and written by Petty and his writing partner for the album, Jeff Lynne. Free Fallin' peaked at No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and all the way to No. 1 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. It also charted in 4 other US charts and all around the world. Widely regarded as one of Petty's...
Triumph - Never Say Never (CHR Version)
Просмотров 12510 месяцев назад
Released as the second single only in their native Canada and as a promo in both Canada and the U.S., this is from their vastly underrated Surveillance album. Taken from the US 12" Promo and written by the band along with Sil Simone (their frequent collaborator), this CHR Version is the same mix as on the Canada 45 RPM. Sadly this single didn't chart. Their last charting hit was their previous ...

Released as the second single only in their native Canada and as a promo in both Canada and the U.S., this is from their vastly underrated Surveillance album. Taken from the US 12" Promo and written by the band along with Sil Simone (their frequent collaborator), this AOR Version is exclusive to the US 12" Promo. Sadly this single didn't chart. Their last charting hit was their previous single,...
April Wine - Anejo (7" Version)

From the second single, Love Has Remembered Me, released from their criminally overlooked Walking Through Fire album, this is the b-side and 7" version taken from the Canada 7" single. Written by Myles Goodwyn, the a-side peaked at only No. 89 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100. For those of you wondering, anejo means vintage, and is specifically a style of aged tequila. Another missed opportuni...

The second single released from their criminally overlooked Walking Through Fire album, this is the 7" version taken from the Canada 7" single. Written by Myles Goodwyn, the single peaked at only No. 89 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100. It was a minor hit, but did become one of April Wine's best-known ballads. And deservedly so, this single fit in nicely on the radio. Such a shame the record c...
Golden Earring - Chargin' Up My Batteries (7" Version)

From the second single, The Devil Made Me Do It, released from their breakthrough Cut album, this is the b-side also available on the album. Written by George Kooymans and Barry Hay, this is a worthy backing to the a-side. It rocks along quite nicely with some nice imagery in the lyrics. Crank it up along with the a-side and enjoy!

The second single released from their breakthrough Cut album, this is the 7" version taken from the US 7" single. Written by George Kooymans and Barry Hay, the single unfortunately stalled at No. 79 on the Billboard Hot 100. It did get some play on rock radio as well. This single deserved more of a chance, but Twilight Zone was just too huge! Give this single a listen, however, and you'll notic...
Joe Walsh - In My Car (7" Version)
Просмотров 254Год назад
The second single released from his unfairly maligned Got Any Gum? album, this is the 7" version taken from the US 7" single. Written by Joe Walsh, Richard Starkey (yes, Ringo Starr), Mo Foster and Kim Goody, the single was a moderate radio hit peaking at No. 14 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. This single is a cover of Ringo's version on his Old Wave album. Of course, Joe Walsh's versi...
Joe Walsh - How Ya Doin? (B-Side)

From the lead single, The Radio Song, released from his unfairly maligned Got Any Gum? album, this is the non-album b-side taken from the US 7" single. Written by Walsh's good friends Joe Vitale and Rick Rosas, it's easy to see why this little throwaway didn't make the album. But that's what the b-side was made for! Us completists gotta have it. Enjoy!

The lead single released from his unfairly maligned Got Any Gum? album, this is the 7" version taken from the US 7" single. Written by Joe Walsh and produced by Terry Manning, the single was a radio hit peaking at No. 8 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The single and album certainly have their critics, but how can anyone deny the catchiness of this tune? In it Walsh methodically walks t...

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Rebels (Live Version)

The second single released from his unfairly criticized Southern Accents album, this is the Live Version taken from the US 12" promo. Written by Petty, the single only reached No. 74 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. Thus making Rebels a significant hit on rock radio, which of course means if it wasn't a pop hit, you will never hear it on...

To everyone in Southern California, rooting for the Dodgers, and going all the way this year...THIS ONE'S FOR YOU!!
I used to have this cassette single
This was the very first concert I saw when I was a child The American Storm tour Tampa FL
Awesome...I had this on cassette back in 1990
❤Thanks Mr The Great Gruop Kansas
Comes to my mind everytime Dodgers, the love of my life, win a game!
I thought the record was made in 1983 not 1973
In this song, the piano piece complimenting guitars and drums after the chorus, is so resoudingly good. I really like the Silver Bullet Band. I don't know how much Bob actually adds to their sound and music playing, but they often have a gratifying ability to add piano or horns to a song making it a trademark of their brand of music.
Best version
Hi
Yes I agree too, it’s perfectly rockin’ and fabulously aggressive guitar from Jeff
Mike is killing it on this
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!!
❤
VAN HAGAR FOREVER!
Great song❤❤❤love Bee Gees
I remember seeing the movie back in the day and when this song came on, the audience really got into it. I am so glad I came across this. Little Richard was a gift to the planet.
Super utwór...
one of the many reasons I've been obssessed with WDV and always will be ❤😂
Totally Underrated song
Happy birthday, Barry! :)
Possibly a slight remix to make it pop a little bit on Top 40 radio? I had the original vinyl single, and that one also said “Original version on the Tom Petty album “Full Moon Fever” under the writing credits.
Thanks @georgeprice4212. Right, it was probably subtle just to make it pop a little more on radio. Thanks for the input.
@@retrohound6546 I had the LP, CD, at least two of the Cassette Singles and all five vinyl singles. Guess I liked it? 😂
@@georgeprice4212 I have two vinyl singles, two cd singles and one cassette single from the album. One of his best.
@@retrohound6546 wait up…what CD Singles? I never saw those!
@@georgeprice4212 Yer So Bad and I Won't Back Down. Both imports from Europe.
My favorite song of his
I like how this one fades out over an extended period 👍👍
The remake as well. Originally titled “Zanz Kant Danz”, recut because of one of many lawsuits filed by former Fantasy Records head, Saul Zaentz.
We for sure got lucky with your music…RIP Greg
Just now hearing that Greg has sadly passed away. A great singer & musician. Rest in peace. Thanks for the music.
Rest in peace, Greg. This is always on my playlist. Thanks for the music.
RIP Mr Kihn...Thank you for making my school days happy
Thanks for uploading it, wish it was on Spotify, underrated Bee Gees song from their post disco years
646 upvotes is all? ❤ This is a fantastic song! 🎉 ❤
Chris Hayes looks like Marty McFly. Being a chilish mid teen I spent weeks trying to find the equivalent of this pink t-shirt better seen on the Coupld Days Off Video. Sean Hopper in leather is not so convincing a look.
This song touched me ever since I first heard it in one of my favorite and dearly beloved movies of all time, Rocky IV! For me it is not just perfect for the Italian Stallion’s training and journey, but for everyone’s life as a metaphor! It tells us, “keep on punching” as living legend Sylvester Stallone says! Keep fighting in life! “Fight on till the end”!!!!
This is underrated song…… imagine if this song what if andy was with them performing in live version, sadly this song was not in spotify
Kick-ass Money jam !!! 🎸🇺🇲😎👍🇺🇲🎸🇺🇲
Best song of this album, which in my view is their greatest album
This version has extra edge over the radio release, superb!
I’d not heard this version before today. Thanks for posting - this is superb!!
this is the type of Beach Boys that I’m not fond of
I agree, but certain songs from this period like this one are still guilty pleasures
That’s sad I thought they were American Bob you censored!!! Very sad not American!!!
When was this song released?
1986
Oddly enough, I was staying in a hotel in northern Indianapolis, about 20 years ago. I think I had the radio set to Q95 (the one the Bob & Tom Show originates from) and I swear I heard the uncensored album version “macho shit” being played.
Another great mix added "Rock" the remix playlist
Nice mix! Thanks for the upload! Always looking for rock/metal mixes/mashes to add to my many playlists. ADDED to my "Rock" the remix" playlist
I have seen live plus got on stage with him in Memphis . Seen him several times when he would visit Hollywood Blvd. and walk around signing autographs and handing out religious material when I live in Hollywood CA, 90046
Is this off the original B-Side on Mercury dated 1987 or is this one of the later 2020s Rereleases on vinyl?
This is the original B-side on Mercury from 1987. I don't post rereleases, only original pressings.
Where can I find the official music video for "Power?" I know it exists because my uncle helped with the production. I've tried a thousand ways in a thousand different searches and can't find any record of it, much less the actual official video itself.
Wereldklasse van een Nederlandse band,om trots op te zijn
This is the album version
Yes it's the album version on 45 rpm.
@@retrohound6546 why couldn’t you just say 7” Album Version? It’s just more accurate in that you’re being specific. A 7’ version usually implies the single version in that it differs from the album version.
@@kissfanmac Because it doesn't say "Album Version" on the label of the 45 rpm. And sometimes they make little tweaks to the single version without representing it as a remix.
I remember this. This is the ending song from an HBO movie "Latino." My dad has that on the original VHS tape.
Nice Rockpile cover! Never knew Petty did this one.
Awesome song
