Creating 3D STL Templates From SVGs
This tutorial will show you how to quickly convert SVG files for patterns to STL files that can be printed on a 3D printer. In addition, I'll show how to break up large templates so they can be printed on smaller machines.
Always respect the copyright/trademark of the pattern designer and do not resell or transfer the final STL or 3MF files without the express agreement of the designer.

Piquant Pouch - Printing a Few of the Templates
Просмотров 7110 месяцев назад
This video just shows a recording of my printer as it prints three of the Piquant Pouch templates: Main A, Main B, and Gusset with Stem. These are the three templates that I increased the width on the indents so that a pencil could be inserted for marking the center/cut lines but hadn't yet reprinted. No voice over, just printer sounds. At the end, I show the finished templates. The pattern des...

How to Straighten Your Foundation Row
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.8 лет назад
I love using foundation rows in crochet but not the way it tends to curve so I figured out how to straighten it as I go. I've only tried it with foundation single crochet (fsc) but it should work for fhdc, fdc, etc.

This is what I have to deal with whenever I'm working on my crochet, knitting, or cross stitch. I usually work on my bed and watch videos on my computer across the room. It's a wonder I get anything done. Mr. Darcy (on the left) is a Shih Poo and Linus (on the right) is a Shih Tzu.

      I don't think it matters which ones you do it between but my design was between the first and second. Putting it between the second and third will look slightly different but it's really up to you if you like it that way better or if it works better for you.

      There are links to two videos in the description that are more in depth tutorials on the pattern. They both do a good job of explaining how to start the pattern and do the first few rows so I really didn't want to make a third video when there were already two very good ones available. I hope that helps.

    Ommmgg sorry to be such a pain , I'm going to start this blanket and have decided to go with the 3 double crochet, my question is , from third row on , every row has spike stitches ? If I am reading the pattern right that's what it says ? But I've watched creative grandma tutorial and Feride tutorial and creative grandma tutorial shes doing one row spiked one row regular granny stitch and in Feride comment section someone asked the very same question and she responded with one row spike one row regular granny alternating. Can you clarify please .

    • @catbirdcreates
      @catbirdcreates 3 года назад

      No problem. The first two rows are not spike sts, rows 3 and 4 are spike sts (you change colors for each row), then rows 5+ repeat rows 3 and 4. Basically, only the first two rows are not spike st rows. However, if you prefer how the alternating rows look, then it's perfectly fine to do them every other row.

    I love this stitch ! I've seen couple versions , one using 3 double crochets and one using 2 double crochets , have you done both ? And which do you prefer as far as how the pattern looks?

    • @catbirdcreates
      @catbirdcreates 3 года назад

      I've only used the three double crochets because of the middle being the spike stitch. With two double crochets, it's more of a "V" stitch instead which may be more like the Lacy Chevron pattern from Leisure Arts (I'm assuming since I've never seen the pattern, just photos). It all depends on the look you want.

    • @dawnamendola8690
      @dawnamendola8690 3 года назад

      @@catbirdcreates thank you for replying, the reason i was asking is because I don't really see a difference in the pattern when looking at it when it's done with 3 double or 2 double crochets

    • @catbirdcreates
      @catbirdcreates 3 года назад

      @@dawnamendola8690 It may be a very subtle difference basically due to the chevron slants which makes it less obvious. The three dc spike stitch would have a more "jagged" look to it due to the first and third st being higher than the spike st, while two dcs would both be in the same space providing a more lacy look. Check out the Lacy Chevron pattern on Ravelry by Mary F. Strecker and I think you'll see the difference better.

    If anyone decides to crochet this afghan what color ways are you using? I think I’m going to use scrap yarn.

    • @catbirdcreates
      @catbirdcreates 6 лет назад

      Any color combos would work and scrap yarn would be a great way to use up your scraps and get some really awesome color combos. For color palettes, I like to look at sites like colorpalletes.net to get ideas for colors.

    • @catbirdcreates
      @catbirdcreates 5 лет назад

      There are several of these on Ravelry with different colorways used. I started one in light, medium, and dark pink and lime green but it would look beautiful in shades of brown or blue or a mixture of different colors.
