There's nothing like these great tube amplifiers.
Great idea to invite your wife to do it! I think she loved this experience.
Тихо играет , может лампы просели какие нужно заменить , подскажите пожалуйста ?
Very interesting video the explanation very clear the procedure that only an expert can follow, the job was flawless this video is an inspiration to love more the electronics. Thanks a lot for having posted this video. The Engineer doing the job needless to say that He is an expert... Thanks for sharing your knowledege..
❤
You should embrace the 70s look of your amps and bring that look to your web site. Your current site just doesn’t capture the greatness of your products.
Sorry about that. We had to get a website up in a hurry and didn't have the time or skill to be very creative. We will try to improve this.
Oh man, I love the 70s look of this thing. And you should put a link to where you can buy it in your video description.
This is so awesome you developed this amp and selling this to the public how cool is that . This is so refreshing, you guys are awesome!!!
Thanks! We appreciate that. Who says you can't build anything in America anymore?
The old resistors will make white noise.
The most natural way ..........YES ! .......and listening to thousands recordings over six decades , the best natural sounding and complete recordings ever made were also recorded with TUBES !
I must agree!

Sold out on site. Come on 😢
There are two assembled units in the store right now.
Good luck with your promotion!
I would be proud to own this lovely amp.
Did I miss the actual cost for the kit? I need two for stereo
We have two assembled units ready to go: www.daystromaudio.com
This is from a 64 year old Black man O.G and music loving audiophile. Forget most celebrities, politicians, and both political parties! This husband and wife team are Great Americans!👍👍😊May they be blessed!👍🙏
Better to explain to the wife that this type of electronic devices normally can reach up to 400V and above, is not the same thing as touching the oven
count me in. thanks
I was 12, I rebuilt bogan pa amp, two for stereo,2 6 in Lafayette woofers, wound inductors, two polar caps to make tweeters a network. Sealed box box. 1967
Can we get basic specs? How much power per amp @8 and 16 ohms? What tubes are (or can be ) used? Also, what price range are we talking about???
We're a few days away from turning on our website and it will have a lot of information there. The units are equipped with 8 ohm transformers. Thanks for writing.
@@daystromaudio1903 OK, me know when you have more details. I am finishing up a bi-amped speaker. The top is a compression driver in a custom horn passively crossed over to a 10” woofer. That is the portion I want powered by a tube amp. The bottom end will be powered by a beefy Class AB amp. For the top, I just need a power amp or mono blocks. No need for a preamp as that is already handled by the equipment doing the electronic crossover and room correction.
@@ccdccd8615 That sounds like an interesting project. I hope the speakers give you an incredible listening experience!
You two are adorable! I absolutely love this video
Thank you for sharing, nice job. I mean your wife.💯
Nice. Re: front panel legends. Rule 1 of typography in graphic design is try never to use more than two fonts, and just one if you can.
Our sheet metal vendor subbed out the silk screen and they got the wrong font and didn't bother to check before running the parts. We switched vendors.
Hi👋🏼😊 new subscriber. Great work👍🏼 and nice amplifiers. I would love to see a point to point version 👽✌🏼
Thanks for the sub!
It is biiiig happy. I envy you.
She is great and you guys also
I listened and heard the amplifier has a soft start feature instead of a standby switch. How do YOU feel about standby? Mt guitar amps have it, Dynaco does not.😮
Personally I like to soft start my amps from a cold start. There's no advantage to hitting a hot tube with full plate voltage in a high fidelity amplifier. I'm not a guitar player but I could see where it would be handy to shut the amp down during a gig between sets.
@@daystromaudio1903 well aside from letting it warm back up.... time...'my ST 70 zaps those plates with 500 VDC.... it's 65 years old
this was a treat, thank you mike and mrs. daystrom seems like your kit might make a good guitar amp what is the speaker output impedance ? would normal guitar pedals be able to drive your amp ?
Good question. Our amp wouldn't work with guitars because they need a strong drive on the input, and no guitar known to man can do that. The output impedance is 8 ohms.
Awesome 😆 ve it.....have you seen Colleen Fazio? My dream girl ❤
The guitar amp lady...Yes I've seen her videos.
Aww, how sweet, if I show my wife perhaps she will share my passion for tube amps... She did comment that my various amps, Fender, Dynaco, Marante... etcetera. She said it looks like a city.......i looked and see how each tube is a different building with office lights, wow.... she's cool for that.... where can I get that kit? Your wife got into it! No Variac to start up slowly? Or lightbulb current limiter? Just saying.
Thanks for watching. Our website is under construction and will be up shortly. That's an interesting analogy about tubes being like city buildings.
Where is the website for this amplifier kit?
Our website is under construction and will be up shortly. Thanks for watching!
This is easily the most relaxing hifi related video ever created and published.
Nice!
Hi all 👋 This looks like a greaat first kit for me as ive been wanting to get some Monoblock amps so this could be perfect 👌 Im definitely hoping you succeed 🙏 and i will watch for future details on buying 😊 a larger watt kit . Best of luck guys 🎉 Im subbed 👍
Thanks for the sub! If this amp succeeds, there will be more designs down the road.
I would keep it simple. I would like to see 20W. I have speaker limitations due to room size. It seems good small speakers need more power to make up for the smaller size. Not as easy to drive as my Ex wife's Hereseys.
Daystrom was an early name on heathkit equipment
I like this video a lot! As good as it may sound now, I am deeply skeptical of the lack of ventilation. I would hate to see you get a bunch of complaints (or worse) once these get out to customers. Personally, I would have holes in the bottom and cut a hole above the tubes with a metal mesh vent. I once built an amp on an all wood chassis without ventilation. Even with the tubes on top and the passive components below the heat was an issue. I too have had great luck with the Edcor transformers. Good luck with your endeavor!
Thanks for the feedback. The chassis has several vent slots on the bottom and so does the top cover. We designed it to take advantage of convective currents to pull cold air from below, pick up heat from the tubes, and exhaust it out the top. I did a torture test in the dead heat of summer where I set the amp outside in the sunshine and ran it for 8 hours. The electronics never flinched, and the inside of the top cover was still cool enough to touch. In a normal listening situation, there is very little heat coming out, so it looks like our passive cooling design is working.
@@daystromaudio1903 I see, I couldn’t make that out in the video. The walnut is very attractive. Reminds me of some Dynaco pieces I have owned.
Dude, women have built way more tube amplifiers than men. Also, tubes were assembled almost exclusively by women.
Of course! I spent 6 years in an electronics factory and the assembly floor was 100% female and they were very good at what they did. My wife has never built anything electronic, and we were showing how simple it is to build our kits. Thanks for watching!
This was the sweetest video. I wish Daystrom Audio the best of luck.
My God.. 🍎✝️🙏 It s a sin.. 😮
hi you could get kit's like this in the 50's alot of the radio pads had them my gran dad used to buy kit in the 60's later maplin sold alot of them
I recognize an Ollie's sticker when I see one! (on the new tablecloth)
I like the way that you gently encouraged her to put the amp together, giving just enough guidance to stay successful, yet let her do most on her own. I especially liked the look on her face when everything worked and the music started coming through. THAT is what gets people excited for both hobbies you are putting forth - Audio (listening) and being the maker, electronics related. Thank you both, and Bravo! Can't wait to see it on a website. (And yes, i did subscribe. this is the first video I've seen. time to check the others. 👍)
Thank you for the kind words. We hope that our new product brings joy to many people. A few couples have expressed interest in building amps together!
Do I need to get married to build it?
That is optional of course but having a supportive spouse makes the experience more fun!
Subscribed waiting for your site to get up and running This is an opportunity to add to the market for tube amps which is fantastic
Thanks for the sub! We really appreciate it.
Really want to build a set of these with my girlfriend. Like that they are EL-84 based. Any ballpark on public availability?
Thanks for asking! I'm looking to have another set for sale (kit form) within a few weeks. Keep checking this channel for more information.
She was great!!! I would like to purchase a set to build with my girlfriend 😉
@@geraldmosley2195 That's a great way to have some fun and build a relationship while you build monoblocks.
Excellent video. Loved the full assembly procedure. 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Where can i find these
The website hasn't been finished so we're using email and RUclips. I'll have another pair available shortly.
With Dynaco and Heathkit out of business that market is wide open. I'd bet you can fill a void for people looking for something similar to the "Stereo 70" of years ago, powered with a pair of EL34s in each channel. I built one of those back when I was about 10 years old. I also built the matching PAS-3X preamp. (recently sold to a friend) I still have a solid-state PAT-4 preamp in working order.
It's our mission to restore good kit audio to the market. We're excited to see how people like these.
Surprised their is no links to where to get these from.
The website isn't ready yet, but you can reach us at daystromaudio@gmail.com
I'm looking forward to these kits!
Thanks for watching!
