Virtual Orchestra: Buckbeak's Flight (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)
A mockup of John Williams’ “Buckbeak’s Flight” from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, featuring instruments mainly from @spitfireaudiollp Symphony Orchestra. I often quickly mockup short sections from pieces as a way to study and practice orchestration, but I love this cue so much and ended up doing the entire thing in fair detail! It’s also getting colder outside, so it was nice to melt my CPU a bit and keep the studio warm. I’m not sure if I would have gotten as far solely by ear, so big thanks to the brilliant score reduction/analysis by @BenSmithFilm which made a valuable reference.

Re-Creating the Sound of Myst Island with found objects
Просмотров 2646 лет назад
The goal for this project was to replace the sounds of Myst Island with my own. The catch was that all of my sounds had to be recorded using only found objects of a specific location. By limiting myself in this way, I would experience a form of limitation similar to the technological limits the Myst developers experienced back in 1993. My space of choice was the electroacoustics studio at the U...
Spettacolo assolutamente ❤🎉
This sounds amazing. It's still one of my favourite Williams' themes. Would you mind sharing the MIDI for educational purposes? :)
Sounds sooo good! Sadly SSO isnt really usable, bad legatos for woodwinds and brass, only shorts are somewhat usable
nice mockup, love the sound of abbey road one but their lack of separate patches for each instruments kinda bums me out. Their new symphonic strings are perfect but 1500€ for strings ouch
Thank you! The thematic horns patch is the only AR1 library I own, but at this dynamic it is stellar for melodic stuff. Looking forward to when they eventually start releasing the new ARO brass, brass shines in that studio!
This is fantastic, really enjoyed every moment! Thanks, Greg!
Great mockup Greg!
this is awesome! really wish i had access to logic pro it looks like an amazing software for composing
What DAW do you use? If you do a lot with midi, copy/move/modify notes, then Logic Pro is definitely much worse than Cubase/Studio One. It feels very inconvenient, also because the keyboard shortcuts are very different from those in other programmes. This means you first have to adapt all the hotkeys so that your workflow can feel similar. If you do a lot of recording yourself without editing midi afterwards, then Logic Pro is certainly a good choice, otherwise I would go for something else.
@@d_lydian Cubase's midi editing with multiple visible automation tracks and expression maps is the gold standard, but Logic still has great workflow options that you can configure to be quite similar
libraries are limited, but very nice programming
Ah this is so good. Mr. Williams for the win. It's rare to find good digital recreations of his work. I was wondering, what's your take on Metropolis Ark?
I've actually never used it! But there is some cool well thought out section mixes in there for sure
Really really well executed, you must love it.
Very cool!
This is awesome. Seriously well done.
What a cool little project! And a great way to learn about sound design.
