The 200 mile range really should have been your first clue that it isn't very good. No TV antenna will receive a station from more than about 80 miles away. At about 75 miles, the transmitter tower is below the horizon. Also the fact that the antenna is tall and thin rather than wide makes it so it won't catch much of the radio waves as they go flying past it. I think your first antenna must have been very bad.
