I also planning upgrading from e2160 to q9550, from 2 gb ram to 8 gb(or 4 if my motherboard dont support ddr3), and from no gpu to 650 ti. Will It be good for movies internet and some gaming on it?

@@JohnCena-gt3sg Well I'm writing this on a q9550/8gb as it's still my main computer even though I have a faster one :) Yes for general use it's still plenty fast. 2gb is pretty tiny these days, I had 4 originally in this but now use 8 and with bloaty software now it's very useful. Looking at the specs the 9550 is much faster even single core never mind fact it's quad,. I've a netbook with 2gb and that's just too small. Internet/Movies are fine. Re games I've a 750 TI in it that I've had for years and it plays things like say Skyrim well with good settings or War Thunder on Low Settings. I've a GT 1030 that's a lot newer that seems similar spec to a 650 ti in another computer that had lower power requirements,. It makes a huge difference for less demanding 3d games, onboard GPU from that era will tend to be rubbish. My only thoughts are is don't spend a huge amount doing the above upgrades as the memory etc won't be usable really in a new computer but if you can do it **cheapily** go ahead, it would make a huge difference? I like this computer but I do worry about it getting so old that something on the motherboard might fail. If nothing fails I'll keep using it. (I've an SSD in it as well, it's got the old system copied onto it, but not essential, old drive was failing). My other thought is - if you don't need all your old OS and you might pick up say a second hand PC like a dell relatively cheaply with a better spec, but they can be iffy about graphics cards. (Which is why I have the 1030 in a second hand dell). Neither of course will work with windows 11 as it's hardware requirements are just insane but I don't want that anyway :)

@@FallNorth I have a g41m combo motherboard. I read on the internet people say it does not support all of ddr3 ram. You need to be lucky to work. I bought 2x 4gb 1333 ram on Corsair xmp3 models. Hope it will work. Also in case I bought 2x 2 GB ddr2 in case the ddr3 not work. My motherboard does support ddr3 also.

Me too! I still use it and it's very fast (with SSD) . I even game with it (GTX 1050) and it plays great imo :)

Yes, you can install windows 10 but X58 is Socket 1366, not 775. The Q9550 is not compatible with that. You need an i7 9xx or an Xeon X56xx or one from the W series even though i wouldn't reccomand them. Also for tripple channel there is either 6 or 12gb ram, no proper 8gb configuration. @@SohamShivoham if you have a board that has voltage control just buy a normal Q9550 and undrvolt it, it will be the same.

La piattaforma in sé e un po'vecchia. La scheda e ancora abbastanza per Windows. Secondo me ti conviene andare su AM4 con qualche APU visto che non ti serve tanto la scheda video.

@@cubajasci7403 si, la tua piattaforma adesso e il socket 775 con il chipset P35, to consiglio ti fare un upgrade su sul socket AM4 e il chipset B450 con come cpu magari un Ryzen 5 3400G e 16gb DDR4 3200MHz. il resto del PC(HDD, Alimentatore, case e altri componenti gli puoi lascare come sono adesso, non rimonterei la scheda video pero perche la scheda video integrata nel 3400g per esempio e piu forte della scheda attuale che stai usando mentre consuma anche meno engergia.

I would advise you to upgrade to X58, there isn't a performance difference between the 775 and 771 CPU's, actually there are just re brands and were desirable for a curtain time because they were cheaper than their 775 consumer counterpart. I would advise you to get a X58 board, prefferebly from Asus, a Xeon X5650 or better like an x5660 or x5675 and 12gb of ram. You shouldn't pay more than 120€ for ram, CPU and Motherboard. Keep in mind that your cooler also has to support LGA1366. But a X58 32nm Xeon is still a very good cpu at a low price and won't bottleneck your 1660super for shure if you Overclock if to 4.3-4.7GHz ish.

E sicuramente un problema del dissipatore. Hai bisgno della pasta termica e pressione di montaggio per farlo funzionare corretamente. 100° nello stress test di CPU Z sono sicuramente troppi! Ti consiglio di montare il dissipatore usano delle fascette, non e bello da vedere ma funzionera sicuramente molto meglio della tua postazione attuale.

@@Marck6034 photos.app.goo.gl/sCDNVgAbQSQFaJR3A Ecco qua un esempio su come farlo =), sulla foto vedi una AIO ma funziona ugualmente con un dissi ad aria, magari devi spostare la ventola ma comunque dovrebbe essere possibile montarlo in qualche modo simile, la pasta termica pero e proprio un MUST HAVE su ogni PC. Se sei proprio disperato potresti usare del dentifricio come soluzione temporale :D, funzionera per qualche giorno dopo ti che diventera troppo secco.

@@yannicg no la pasta termica c era ma era secca ora ho rimesso la pasta termica e una ventola in piú adesso carico 0% 37°C e a pieno carico con cinebench 71°C

Yeah, that's probably because the solder between the IHS and DIE degraded over time and doesn't transfer heat very well anymore, you would have to delid your CPU and change the solder with new Thermalpaste. But I agree, for gaming the Q9550 isn't rly a good choice if you want to play modern AAA games.

@@yannicg Yeah, no worries. The video was good though. There is, however, another problem with the video. It was supposed to be about the performance of the Q9550 in 2020, not about building a Core 2 Quad PC. You should have only displayed benchmarks and stuff. So, in conclusion, there are two main problems with this video: 1. Intro was way too long. 2. You built the PC on camera.

@@MuhammadAli-jd2ut well, building the test bench on camera is actually good in my opinion. The main problems is that the build portion took over 7mins even though it shouldn't have been longer than 2mins.

It rly depends on your motherboard, sample and cooler how far you will be able to overclock it. My overclock worked fine even on the stock c2q copper core cooler. As for what gpu you should pair it, I wouldn't rly go higher that a 750ti, it also depends a lot of the games you are playing but even my gtx580 was sometimes bottlenecked by the c2q. I also tested the plattform with different more powerful cpu's later like a 10x multiplier xeon and I can assure you that even with 1066MHz ram and 4,1GHz clock you are still going to be limited by the FSB speed, it just hasn't got enough bandwidth. If you can I would suggest you to jump to X58, I got a rly nice board + a i7 930 with 4gb ram + stock cooler for 60€ including shipping, if you can get a similar deal get a big cooler and an X5650 and overclock it to 4,4-4,5GHz. I may do a video on that soon. These chips didn't even rly bottleneck a gtx1080ti in most cases in my testing so should be more than fine with one of those.

I get some deals on 45 chipset motherboard on Ali express which is around 60$. and some G41 motherboard in about 25$..which one is worth to buy please suggest me. Maybe if I can't oc to 3.4 I will stick on around 3.1 or 3.2...and I think I will go with gtx 760..is it a good choice? waiting for your kind reply. 😊

@@siddiqueabubakar9348 I wouldn't suggest you a G41 board at all, even if they are cheap they dont get over 360-370MHz FSB because you cant change the FSB termination and Northridge voltages. Also 60$ is a lot of money for an old p45 board, try finding something 1156/1151/1366 based for a similar price (I wouldn't go with a Chinese board if its 1156 or 1366 based with which you cant overclock because these old platforms need high clock speeds to perform exceptionally in modern games, on sandy and ivy bridge you should be fine with lower clock speeds because of the higher IPC and i5's are going for around 30€ so they are great value).The GTX760 might be a good choice depending on how much you would have to spend on it. I don't know how available parts on the used market are in your location but I wouldn't spend over 55€ including shipping for a 760.

My q9550 over clock to 3.7ghz and I’m using gtx 750 Ti SC and it still bottlenecked, cpu was running 100% and gpu was running 45-70%, I don’t get it

@@crunchyroll7734 well, the Core2 architecture is extremely limited by its FSB so higher clock speeds on the cpu don't rly help a lot in most modern games (in cinebench they do) because these games are memory heavy and the link between the cpu and ram (the fsb) just is a huuuuge bottleneck. I experimented with a higher multiplier cpu and p45 board (won't be making a video on it though as the project went horribly wrong) and in games the performance isn't much better (if at all) at 4,3Ghz than it is at 3,6Ghz. At a curtant point (I guess at about 3,6-3,8Ghz these cpu's just stop scaling with clocks on memory heavy tasks such as games.

Nah, get a 1gen Xeon (the i7 equivilant) for 10€ and you will have way better performance for a lower price.

@@yannicg sorry... cant switch to another motherboard, as i said i havent got any money, but wait.. u said an xeon with lower price and better performance ? This looks awsome, but another problem is limited power, since ive got 220 watt power supply only :( so ive to stay at lower than 180 watts cuz the quality of psu is baad, but i noticed theres a cpu called q9550s with only 65 tdp that match my current cpu (pentium e5300) but its very rare, i didnt found it in the shops, only some sellers on ebay with about 60€+ and i havent got that money (another thing i dont trust internet buying) i should put my pc in the rubbish and wait to finish my high school, so i work more hours and get more money and look for an 400€ good deal pc.
