This is probably confusing, because the commentary is from AFTER we watched the episodes. But hey, LIFE is confusing, right? You'll be fine. (Also, we only had time to do the first half of the episodes, but I think it gives you a good sense of Paul's journey of experiencing the series for the first time.)

DEAD EYES Bonus Video: Connor (age 10) appears on his dad's TV show to promote a play
I love this scene. It really shows the great friendship between Nix and Winters. Nix is saying, “bro, calm down, they know what they’re doing, just do what you have to do now.” A great duo devoid of any jealousy. Just a mutual respect for each other’s strengths.
Aimee Mann has a voice of angel.
This is what a lot of modern cinema is missing. Portays of professionell grown ups who do thier job even though they don't like it. Could it had been more subtly written? Maybe. But I just can't stand all those supposedly "experienced leaders" (Like Galadriel in Rings of Power or basically all the characters in Casa del Plata, etc.) who behave like 16 year olds as soon something doesn't sit right with them. It's such a vital skill to have and many people do that in the real world, but still Hollywood shows them griefing, shouting, simply being childish if the world doesn't treat them they're supposed to be treated. Winters would have all the excuses to be bad at his job, which he hates, but because he's a responsible grown up, he let's people correct him, even taunt him, puts his head down and gives it his all. Refreshing to see and an actual role model!
beautiful winters
Colin's laugh sounds EXACTLY like his dad.
But what about those TPS reports Nix?
I have had bacon, I have had sandwiches. But I have never thought of having a bacon sandwich.
True dead eyes example Case in Point: Captain Winters A natural combat leader shifted over to the role of executive officer, AKA deskwork
Leader ship delegation and shit
the actor Tom Hanks referred to as "dead eyes" was Connor Ratliff, the actor here playing Zielinski is Adam Sims.
What the hell are people talking about with Zielinski's "lively eyes"? I have no Idea what everyone is talking about, could not find anything eye related about the actor Adam Sims either, what's this joke everyone seems to know about?
He handled it pretty well but ya can tell Winters hated moving up in ranks like that...felt like he was losing his men in a way not bring in the trenches and out in the field as much. What hated about military, lot of time they don't care if ya want the promotion of not they give it to ya anyway.
Band of Brothers was so good. They did something weird in the Pacific. Battle scenes were amazing in the Pacific, but too much fluff too.
from the thumbnail I thought he was a baby
Just saw Conner live as The Baron, now watching this and I love it. Whoever did the editing on the video did a great job too. It deserves more views.
I have never see this movie and can not name a character in it. But I will remember Gary The Masturbator for some time I think.
legend has it that Zielinski inspired Simon & Garfunkel's 'Bright Eyes' song
Was this scene removed? I don’t remember seeing this.
it's from crossroads around the half-way point
Be good to run into a bacon sandwich.
Thank you for your service. 🤷♂️
I got a sudden craving for a bacon sandwich!
In the movie; "A Bridge Too Far", that boat operation led by none other than Bob Redford and Ryan O'Neal was portrayed as a costly, bloody and ultimately unnecessary action. All those guys rowed little canvas boats across the Rhine and got picked off by German artillery, snipers and machine guns . . just the mere fact that those stupid canvas boats didn't sink when shoved in the water is incredible enough. Half of them died, as eloquently described by Redford when trying to get the British to move their collective ass. Ultimately making the entire sacrifice a tragedy.
It’s not the same operation. The one a A Bridge Too Far is about the 82nd crossing a river when the Allies had the initiative at the beginning of Market Garden, this one is about Operation Pegasus, a rescue mission trying to evacuate around 130 people, most of them British paratroopers. It was done during the night, with no combat and no casualties and was a success
@@FranciscoOyola94 Very well.
Winter's response to the upcoming kickoff of Operation Pegasus reminds me of the old retired Fire Horses rising their ears and snorting in expectation when they heard the alarm bell, expectedly awaiting the harness team to come running toward them.
Obligatory I hear Private Zielinski is still trying to find a black coffee no sugar and a bacon sandwich to this day.
The sharpness, curtness and thinly disguised sarcastic jibes of the dialogue, which would have seemed like mutual disrespect among these men in other circumstances, serves to bring out that they were about to cross into the jaws of death on the far side of the river Rhine and they all knew it. Their dialogue was a way of avoiding 'talking about it'.
Where's the bacon sandwich? I want a bacon sandwich dammit!
Yeah. I can remember when I was in High School Jr. ROTC and got promoted to Staff. I'd been a Platoon commander before that - working with the younger kids every day trying to teach them the ropes - then they took my Platoon Away From Me ... There was nothing to do on Staff in a High School Jr. ROTC unit. NOTHING. Absolutely ... nothing ... But - it gave the guy who came after me in commanding the Platoon - something real to do and a chance to learn something. I'd had my turn. I couldn't begrudge him that - but - I missed having something real to do. Of course - for Staff Officers in the Real Military - there is A LOT for them to do on Staff. Staff Officers are on at least the Battalion Level - below that you have Companies and Platoons - and the Headquarters for those units is pretty much the CO, XO and a few other people. With a thousand people to look after on the Battalion Level - there is all kinds of stuff that needs to be done to see that they get fed, have the equipment they need and detailed plans on what the individual parts of the Battalion are going to do. .
Dick Winters. A leader a Hero.
It's Ross Perot!
later on Zielinski comes back with coffee and bacon sandwiches.
Excellent series this was.
Best mini series ever. My dad was a WWII vet I'm glad he lived long enough to watch it.
The actors became soldiers. I became a soldier (E6, O5) for 20 years. Maybe I was an actor too.
Zelensky the orderly.
Rumour has it they give secret accent lessons instead of math and science at Eaton, to give these guys a flying start once they get jobs as actors...
Did he ever get his bacon sandwich? we all wanna know.
Zeilinsky went to go get a coffee for Nix but he was gone by the time he got back with the coffee.
Subtlety is lost on some.
Am I the only one wants to know whether Nixon eventually had encountered the bacon sandwich?
Legend has it Zielinski is still looking for that bacon sandwich.
The supplemental bonus content we needed and you delivered. Thank you.
You know what I think it was probably the height thing
Whoever plays Zielinksi really steals the scene. His eyes are just so lively. Props to whoever made the casting decisions!
Just a hint of sarcasm 😅
hahaha
Oh wait no! Next season should be a D&D actual play podcast. Watto playing characters. Brennan lee mulligan as DM. Dead Dice? Perfect.
obligatory second comment for more engagement: maybe dumb Idea for episode next season: Talk about our experience filming that ad for the gary-vee nft crypto thing? Interview other actors having to do work for potentially slightly shady things? ties into the dead eyes of cyrpto-bros? idk Love the show so so much! Wonderful live ep
fucking beautifulllll
Idk why, but that bacon sandwich sound so good in the context of the show.
Sounds good right now
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have only seen a few episodes of TCGS - notably the dumpster episode, one of my favourite things on the entire internet - but this makes me want to delve into that crazy world a bit more!
30:15 I also love sonic too!!! 🩵💙
Now I want to know if the bacon sandwich ever turned up?
