Madam A small doubt... Please make elaborations if possible how arohana avarohana swaras are used in varnams and kritis..such that it will be useful to understand the specific usage and their implications on them. If i am wrong pls ignore...

I have a similar doubt. How to differentiate between mayamalavagowla and saveri? both use same swaras. the only way i have been able to differentiate is by listening to the mood of the song, but it's not accurate. please help
Check the prayogas/phases. Saveri can only have S R M P and D in the arohanam phrases. Also every raga has specific phrases that define it. It's important to know those.

bhaja govindam -> punarapi jananam (my fav charana) kurai onrum illai -> thira in pin nirkinrai kanna raga kapi is one of my favs along with nattai sri and varali. it instills a mood of devotion, bhakthi, transience of life, and longing. it never fails to bring tears to my eyes
