Slaughterhouse Section (Roaring Fork) || 1050 CFS || Dagger Indra
This is the final video from this year's trip to Colorado. Slaughterhouse is always a fun and chill run. A good break in pace from the hard stuff. You can splat or spin any rock you see in the video. I would take a half or full slice this run if you have one with you. Don't overlook the fun you can have on this run because it's not a big bopper. Definitely recommend checking this out!

My second trip down the pine at a medium/high flow and once again end up in pine hole. I actually think it's harder than when I ran it last year around 1800. The top holes are more holes and less wave like and it is just as pushy. Don't take Pine Creek lightly as a swim can be very dangerous as there is no where to really get out. Cool that for this walkthrough! How does the plastic clasp hold up? I have a Select two piece paddle and the attachment piece is plastic, it has broken repeatedly. Having the ability to take it apart and adjust the length, is so helpful. Unfortunately I found the Select paddle to be heavy and unreliable, and moved on to a Werner Shogun. The Shogun is bomber and quite lite, and can be used for downriver or playboating.

    • @DownstreamV

    Been using a Werner powerhouse for a while now. Still trying to decide between the arca works and the aquabound. Aquabound price is insane but I hear it’s very durable and I hear great things about the Vulcan too so I’m not sure which one to get. Right now I’m doing a lot of play boating not so much river running

    • @DownstreamV
      @DownstreamV 7 дней назад

      If you are playboating I would say go for aquabound. The forward blade design is really meant for river running and creeking and will take a toll on the blade and your wrists. If you’re going aquaboud spend the extra for the carbon it’s worth it. Hit up wren at NOC for a Matt wallin discount. River running I would absolutely say the arca works.

    I think your review is the most refreshingly honest non-hyped, non BS review I have found. So many are "this is the best perfect agile boat ever", and I'm really tired of them. I cannot test a boat out. So thanks. Question: With all my gear I weigh about 190lbs, so I am thinking I'll need a large. I've come from a Zen 2 Medium, and it started to feel like the bow was too big and sometimes not loose enough surfing a hole. (BTW I'm not an expert paddler, staying with II and sometimes III.) How would paddling a medium at the upper edge of the weight range affect things? Much appreciated. Stefan Australia

    • @DownstreamV
      @DownstreamV 11 дней назад

      Appreciate the kind words there. Regarding your question that’s tough for me to answer being at my weight. I can’t find specs on the old zen but it seems it’s about 79 galls and the flow is 77. It is a great surfing creek boat as it has a playboating hull on it. I would say you’re right on the edge of medium and needing a large. I honestly can’t say which one to go for. I would reach out to Wade Harrison as he is about 180. If he felt good in medium go for the smaller boat as your not paddling anything crazy anyway.
