So it says on the doc 3-4h track. Did it take that long you'd say? I know, it's been two years haha. But I'll be resting up in Haast soon and figured, after a long day of driving, throw in a nice little hike but 4 hours might be a tad much then :(

This video is like a virtual hike for those of us stuck indoors. Incredible job on the editing and capturing the essence of the great outdoors!

I tried getting in via the track you used (Waitaanga South) in 2010 but got rained out. I eventually got there via the Tatu track in early 2011, but that was somewhat hairy as it was no longer being maintained. Pretty sure it's closed now. It's an amazing waterfall. I included it in the book 'Walks to Waterfalls.' Should add that the Waitaanga Stream is fairly large and I doubt the falls would reduce to a trickle at any point. I went in February and it was still blasting, though not as much as when you were there.

Wow, so beautiful! ... looks similar to the cool temperate rainforest found in Tasmania.

They have a lot of rain and temperate climate, both of which make a very substantial difference in how gardens and natural landscapes look like.
