I've been using Cura for a long, long time. Its been great but there are ways to make it better. In this video I go through my top extensions available to improve your experience with Cura and the general capabilities of the software. I also go over a new to 5.7 feature and discuss some things I would like to see in future updates. Links to the mentioned extensions from 5Axes: Custom Cylindric ...
GHOST BUSTING! A systematic approach to stop ghosting. also, should printers have shock absorbers?
Просмотров 10 тыс.8 месяцев назад
I got called out in my last video about fuzzy skin for having a bad printer, or at least in desperate need of tune up. Serious ghosting issues in my prints. So in this video I go through several settings and ways of tuning your printer to get rid of ghosting or ringing with a mix of hardware and software tuning. This includes belt tightening, speed changes, wall order, printer mounting surface,...

Subbed thank you
What a horrible shit lmao
Hi This is Sarah from the JLC3DP marketing department. We are willing to sponsor you with our 3d/CNC printing service to collaborate on a project with you. May I ask about your interests?😊
6:35 left one looks really good!
Holy cow! This is eye opening. Thank you! I was wondering if fuzzy skin wears out the 3d printer much faster, but if it saves printing time with higher density then my question is invalid.
It's more accelerations and decelerations so maybe. But so is gyroid infill. I doubt there's been any measure of how much extra ware it does
what the fuzzy did i just watchy
@@ipadize fuzzed if I know!
You need to learn how to tune your printer better your prints look terrible
Lol that was the next video. I waited to tune it until after this video to really emphasize the "fix"
The reason you had trouble removing the print is because you didn't let it cool down. I like to take the build sheet off and fan it in the air to speed up the cool down, then simply flex the plate after it's cooled down and it'll easily break the seal. However, never use a skirt when printing on this printer. It's (skirt) very difficult to remove. The initial purge line is sufficient and removes easily. This printer is so quiet, I find myself constantly checking to make sure it's still running. I've got two of these and two Lulzbot Mini 2's. I don't use the Lulzbots anymore. Plus the price of these has actually come down a couple a hundred dollars since the making of this video making it, in my opinion, the best bang for the buck printer on the market. AND the customer service is excellent.
this was a solid video dude needs to make another one on this
Thank you, have ideas for more. Just need to get the time
Thanks for sharing! I've heard a few people talk highly of their old lulzbots, they were built like tanks. The tip of having patience is... hard to learn :) I've taught myself to just step away from problems and come back the next day, otherwise I can cause some real damage!
thanks lol ive been trying to figure out how to do a simple texture like this for 2 days in f360. saves quite a bit of hassle.
I wish there was an easy way to do in f360. Unfortunately I don't know a good way except on flat pieces and patterning but complex shapes? Yikes Glad the video helped
one click takes you 16 mins to explain. next.
@@jasonwalker2150 thanks for stopping by! 👍
Not too complicated.
I'll not be getting a 3d printer anytime soon. A little to complex and I'm not that tech savy.
This is a really old one and the industry has come a LONG way since this one, especially in user friendliness. It is easier to get started and you can get as deep as you want to fine tune everything but really isnt needed for most cases
in this new era of printers a toddler could operate it. Only difficult part now is designing, or you can just use other people's designs
Your printer/slicer settings could use some tuning
What…..
Hey, did you discover a successful method of imprinting the bed texture to the top layer? I'm looking to try this too.
11:00 Why do you hate me.
@@SimplestUsername hahaha sorry. Guess I could have had a headphone warning
I’m considering getting an A1 for my first printer. Is this slicer setting able to be applied to only a specific face so all inner features keep tolerance without fuzzy skin?
With Cura 5.7, if you're using that now, are you still able to use Tab AntiWarping. I'm struggling to find the plugin. I feel like Ultimaker did a purge...
I like fuzzy skin mode but it doesn’t work on flat top layers
I do not longer see this feature as a weird useless thing now, thank you
I did a tissue box with fussy skin and yes you can't see layers. and that was couple years ago
hi, i am new to 3d printing so how can i make infill supports like of the inner circle at 2:36
fuzzy skin adds a ton of time, so not really a thing you can do all the time.
thank you for sharing, the tricks work well on my project!
that is not in all slicers, s3d dont have that feature...
Wow, this is amazing! Any idea about how it impacts on disability?
Nice! You should do a van update vid.
prepare to be disappointed that thing is shit!
Does it recline???? 🤦🤦♀🤦♂
@@luzbel4469 I wish. This seat was designed for city buses so doesn't unfortunately. I did have a contact at the company and gave them that feedback though. Reclining would be nice. I know they made an updated version that can also be used as a table when folded up with an attachment and maybe has a slight recliner feature. Don't remember tbh
Can we select specific faces to use fussy skin? Considering glue some pieces together... for example
I had this turned on by accident one time back when I first started printing... Couldn't figure out why my prints all came out like garbage back then lol.
Hahaha I could see that being very frustrating when you don't know what's going on
@@willofthemaker It took me a solid 3 prints to realize it was a setting in the slicer and then I had to scroll through each individual setting to figure out what it was and of course the setting was all the way down at the bottom of the list
Can you apply fuzzy skin to only specific areas of a print? That would be useful.
Sad that top layers (and overhangs) are not fuzzy.
I don't know, you could also just... fix your ghosting?
This has to be insanely useful for painting the pieces
What were your dimensions off the wall and from the back of the front seat base? Hows it holding up now and anything you would change?
Another nice thing about fuzzy skin is that it can turn those ugly bits of overhang into part of the texture, thus becoming a feature.
Its a solid printer and possibly reliable. Print quality is not the greatest. I guess need some adjustments. I own Creality K1C and is really fast. I printed a lot on that printer and so far it has been great. Saved me so much time.
Thank you, I love the look of these parts compared to the generic 3d print. Only problem I have is that I use a glass bed, so the bottoms will be smooth while the rest of the print won't be. I should probably get a PEI sheet..
Getting a pei sheet is a game changer for printing. Parts stick better and are easier to come off. plus you can choose texture or smooth
I have zero 3D printing experience, but I am ordering my first 3d printer next week (X1C) This video is going to be a great help, because I will be using fuzzy skin a lot in the future. Thanks
Great to hear and good luck with your printer. Welcome to the community!
@@willofthemaker thank you! :)
nice video, but I still prefer orca slicer by far
Thanks, I'm starting to experiment with orca now. TBH... I'm liking it quite a lot
Which is your favorite extension in Cura? What feature do you think Cura is missing?
It looks like one of the issues that your printer has is too low of a current on the x and y motors. It looks like you have layer shifting that could be resolved by increasing the current to your motors. Since you increased the tension of the belts, I thought that would have resolved some of the issue, but you might want to try adjusting the motor current. I hope this helps.
🙏 thank you
you should use your camera's mic for your voice overs.. it was much clearer. and if you use a low pass over filter to get rid of that "fuzz"
Would have been a good idea. I have new software that I think is working better
Your 3D printer is really bad
There is a much better fix… Replace the poor quality motors in your printer with much higher quality ones… Software is not a fix for poor hardware selection.
