DirtWire Live at BuildingMan Festival 2023
3 years ago i attended my first BuildingMan festival. During which i had an experience sitting around the fire pit that changed my life! After having this great awakening i was guided into the desert where i found a stick. Not sure why, but i felt compelled to walk around the desert using this stick as a catalyst to form connections with people i more then likely would have been to shy to speak to otherwise. I proceeded to ask everyone i ran into if they would be so kind as to weave a little bit of there energy and intentions into this stick that i now call the staff of the tribes. I saw something in the fire that first experience at BuildingMan in 2021 and i was for ever changed and insp...

Gransfors Bruk Scandinavian Forest Axe Fail | My Updated Honest Review
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
After viewing my short video the US distributor finally got in touch with me and replaced the first defective 430 axe. That was only after i had contacted the company prior to making my initial video. I was told i would need to pay shipping and lose the use of my axe for up to 6 weeks while another was sent to me. I have been using this replacement axe for about a month now. This is my honest r...

You have 20 years warranty. This is a forging fault. You get another one if you contact them. Because it is a lifetime axe. You just got the bad luck having a misforge.
i have a mini ultralight powers on then powers off what could the problem be
Beautiful tree. Having lived in Colorado for 19 years now, I've come to really love our ponderosa pines here.
I got mine yesterday. Bought it in small shop in Austin TX, that was listed by GB as their dealer. I was very worried after seeing this video but, my axe was handling some hard hits on live oak when I tested. What you show is extemely unusual for any axe. Actually, I've never seen anything like that in 50 years. It is either that somebody sold you some fake product or something went very wrong with particular batch which is very hard to believe. I kept eye on these for 10 years before deciding to burn $250. Most complaints were that they were chipping which is not unusual for hard edge holding steels. For edge to fold though, it has to be fairly soft and tough steel.
That's one cute dog
You're splitting with a forest axe. Right tool for the right job goes a lot way
Thank you for your honest review concerning the quality of the product. Thanks to corporate-style business practices, many consumers have become accustomed to accepting mediocre quality.
You are not the first person to experience this on a Gransfors Bruk axe!! Buy a Council Tool Velvicut or Wood Craft Pak axe & you get 5160 steel that performs!
Most likely who ever ground it at the factory probably overheated the edge & ruined the heat treat at the very edge! File away the 1/8 inch & you should hit hard steel! At that point file a good edge on it!
If you want alifetime axe new one will never do. Get an old axe i have several over century axes that are incredibly well made. Kelly black raven but its not cheap and its bigger but you will have it for your lifetime and whoever gets it after you will too
This dude is a pre Madonna flake!!! It looks like noodle arms boy is swinging and hitting the dirt with it. Make a video and prove all us skeptics out there wrong? If you cant back up your claim with proof , then i right....
Warranty it
I’ve had one for years, split a forests worth of wood. Never had this problem. I imagine there were some heat treating issues when they forged this one.
What's the location
Kauai island, Hawaii
@@amartiansgarden thanks
This is freakin sad that you had 2 bad experiences from them. I bought mine 2 yrs. ago and have no issues... Now, after seeing this happen twice, I don't know if I would buy another if quality has gone down that much.
I have 2 axes from this company. It was almost 2 months before I sharpened the one I use 2-3 tmes a week. I have never had any issues. I would send it back and get a replacement
So sad to see this, I have my Scandinavian Forest Axe for 4 years now and I never had a problem with it. I used it for felling, delimbing, even spliting smaller logs. So sad to see this.
A cold piece of metal breaking? Who would have thought
thats user error
The urban lumberjack had a similar experience to you with very soft metal on the bit. He discovered that you have to file down about a 1/4 inch of the bit before getting to hard metal, probably because of lazy sharpening with a belt grinder and overheating. You should not have to fix up a $200 axe just to make it usable, ridiculous.
Wetterlings was the superior axe until ray mears destroyed it with so much coverage of the Gränsfors
Sad that QC is horrible!! Just because someone says it’s good doesn’t mean anything anymore! It has been my experience that EURO products are way over hyped!
Might be a copy
Too much drama on this channel.
Do you get frost bitten?
If i have to choose a dog or nissan juke i will choose nissan juke
Thiese are not chippings from a wood spliting .. i think you want to discredit the company .
Sharpen it, and then do it again whilst filming. Let us see for ourselves
Lol nice wizard cloak.
Hey bro, upload more
You’re not the only person who is questioning the integrity of these axes. The edge has rolled on other GB axes when just chopping wood only. I have a True Temper Kelly Perfect Axe that’s out performed my GB axe and cost a fraction of the GB.
Sometimes, heat treat becomes an issue. GB stands behind their products.
I do not even own a Gransfors but I have plenty of edged outdoor tools. I think you are forgetting that every production tool will have isolated or batch failures. Just get the item replaced and if their customer service or you have a repeat problem then do a video.
Is that a new Gränsfors or am I mistaken?
AHAAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!
Send it back
Just send it back, they will def replace it for you.
Cry baby, get is exchanged or get another axe. I agree the blade should not act that way. Now cry to the internet if you reached out to the company and they did little to nothing to fix the issue.
I hate dogs like I’ve never hated anyone or anything before.
Thanks for this sincere statement. They do definitely the wrong heat treatment. I have also one, but from some 25ys ago. With them is all well so far, but i didn't use it hard. And also at that time it was expensive, but not the way it is today. We thought that is a better product as our german or austria (Ochsenkopf, Müller, Stubai) one's. Which is a mistake. I never had it in my car, because it's too expensive. For temperatures of 60° plus to -20° Celsius i have a 1000g Fiskars in it. And also if it get stolen, which happened with my Ox Iltis, you will miss it, but not cry.. I do not know why many BC Teachers recommend GB, just because you give em at a student, it is destroyed. Sure, its maybe the only company where the handle doesn't get loose, but i didn't know how a Husqi is after a decade or so. Thanks for the sayin that this didn't have a problem. I maybe would replace the GB with a one, and now we know that the Husqi, which is a HB, is the same but better product. And half the price. And if you have a problem you can simple go to the next dealer. But after a while of thinking and rethinking and rethinking and thinking - i go back to my roots. I buy a 1.000/70 Iltis and a 800/70 Canada Iltis, maybe. I will go back to my old head shapes, because they did serve me so well over so long years. The only reason to buy a Huski is if you like the look. It isn't about the -better- performance.
Was the pine pitch frozen? Still not sure that would have chipped it out -- looks cold out there. Either way, sorry that happened.
Similar to my Scandinavian forest axe, i stopped using it and went with Hults Bruk instead.
I’ve owned a Scandinavian for many years with no issues in both soft and mostly hardwood. On your primary edge, or 1/16th from cutting edge, put a 30-degree angle. On the cheek, 1/2” from cutting edge, put a 15-degree angle and you’ll never have an issue.
Maybe you had it too close to a fire and the heat treat went away. Or God forbid you used it as a fire poker.
Sounds like you got a bad heat treat and some recycled steel that nobody knows the composition of.
Are you using a pi4 or pi 5?
i imagine they had a bad heat treat or when grinding they over heated it ruining the heat treat because ive seen other videos doing the same. one guy had to file back 1/8" or 1/4" of the edge before getting to properly hardened steel edge. pretty nuts for sure.
Just found this video after commenting on your shorts , thank u for the review
Any update on the gransfors axe ?
