We are just normal every day people who live an extraordinary life. we have a passion for off roading and building and modifying jeeps. we travel the country as much as possible to go to off road parks and to hit the best trails! we aren't sponsored, we don't have any hookups, we don't have the best and most expensive rigs out there. We have alot of cool projects and builds going on, so subscribe and stay tuned for some awesome adventures!
Jeeps on Poison Spider, Gold Bar Rim, Golden Spike.
We finally made it out to do Poison Spider, Golden Spike, and Gold Bar Rim. The Trifecta in Moab Utah! our buddy ran into quite a bit of trouble on a narrow spot of the gemini bridges pass, and we had to figure out a way to get him back rolling. nothing some rocks, ratchet straps, and a winch couldn't solve! we had a blast with our friends from Lowcountry Wranglers, and met some new friends along the way. this is definitely a bucket list trail, and one of the coolest days of wheeling we have had yet! it was so cool just being able to see golden crack and where eagles dare in person. Jeep life cant be beat.

We took our 2010 Jeep Wrangler JKU Rubicon, packed our 3 kids, and hit the road for the 4 1/2 hour drive towing our 6x12 cargo trailer conversion camper behind us. Lil Sketchy the 97 Jeep Wrangler TJ finally gets some beadlocks! we got the Total Metal Innovations weld on beadlock kit. Maybe now we can keep the tires on the bead? We weld em up, bolt em up, air em up, and throw em on! thank you to our friend Billy, president of Lowcountry Krawlers, for his help with this project! We had a good time, and we cant wait to see how they do in a few weeks.

The weather wasn't great, the rain made the whole park slick, but we didn't let it stop us from doing our thing. A bad alternator on the night ride friday made us miss the day ride on Saturday with Matt and Jeremy but we swapped it out and still got to go ride some trails with o...

Smittybilt rollcage install on Jeep LJ. SKETCHY JEEPS EP1
same tire size and tons/gearing.. I'm excited to start me 5.3/4L60e build... Seems more than powerful enough 4 u... NICE . I might pick your brain with the wiring later...
I see the Skar tweeters did you use the crossovers installing the tweeters
Are you able to face these forward?
Very cool!
Do you have an amp installed for the front and sound bar speakers or just running off the deck and stock wiring?
Do you think it would fit in a 2019 wrangler sport? it looks very similar in the back
Just seeing this three years after it was posted. I got the same tent and agree with most of your observations. They have now added an additional bar across the vestibule that I think may not have been there three years ago (have seen multiple posts about the same pole bending that you had bend, so my guess is they figured out a "fix" to make that area a little stronger.) One big down site to this tent (and probably all rooftop tents) is that they are VERY heavy. The XL is among the heaviest. The ideal setup would be to rig a pulley system to lift it up off your car and store it against the garage ceiling (where it could then be lowered down onto the car from there). Lifting it up and down would be a HUGE pain. The better solution, IMO, is to mount it on a small trailer with "risers" on it. Mine sits on a 4x6 trailer with 48" risers on it. Camping gear stows below with the tent on top. And it all sits sideways in my garage in front of my car. Eliminated the need for having to move the tent on and off the car. Overall great video. Keep it up!
What amp kit do you recommend for this set up?
Love the video!! I’m building a 1 ton TJ on my channel right now and can’t wait to eventually 5.3 swap it!
Thank you! It's been one of the best things we've done. Tons of power
@@SketchyJeeps what are you running for exhaust?
@michaelmcclellan9422 still rocking the temp setup of Sanderson headers to some flex pipe dumped out the passenger side 😆
Did you ever try any softening compounds to see if it helped any on these SX2's?
Still haven't had a chance, do you know of anything that works?
@@SketchyJeeps I don't yet but if I find something I'll let you know, just got a set in 37x14.5, I didn't realize they are that stiff, I'm definitely cutting/grooving them.
@@BSF628 it helps, the tire flexes better and grips better. But it's still a hard compound.
What series speaker is that your running? I’d like to run the evl but 1 cubic foot is not enough I wouldnt think
Btw i have an idea / fix for your bent pole too. Just get an aluminum sleeve cut it in half and jam them back in it should fix it right up
Smittybilt came through with a new one, and apparently they changed the design to a 3 piece pole that is a good bit thicker
Can you close it with the extra pad?
Yeah it closes just fine no issues
What transmition do you have?
4l60e, currently missing third gear lol
I love skar audio!!but cant even fit a pair of 8's in my two door jl lol
Haha yeah space gets tight in the 2 doors. Still loving these subs and amp combo, but had to use a different box that can be taken in and out more easily and fit behind a third row seat when its flipped up.
nice build. good team. i can say everyone needs swampers in their life. i have a set of 34x10.50/17 for my 2021 zr2 and it just goes. not like yours but amazing just the same. i am leaning towards a yj build for retirement fun. time to get sketchy.
Thanks! It's been a great build so far, unfortunately the tires are still the downfall. We're planning on the super swamper 43sx stickys. Love a good yj build, But you can build the heck out of a chevy too haha
My RUclips opinion would be to center sipe the tire This makes more square edges to contact road trail sand surfaces and also will maintain a cooler and more consistent wear pattern
Always happy to here suggestions! Currently we are about at our last straw with these tires. They are just so hard they don't hook. Going to be exploring the idea of slapping some softening compound on them and see what happens!
What size are the tires? Looks like 37 on 16 inch
40x13.50 17s.
Air down to 1-2psi. Drive around in a field for 20-30 min to break in the sidewall and carcass. If you only air down to 10psi the sidewall never flexs enough to full break in and soften. Swampers have a thick carcass and this will help a huge amount by doing this. Once theyre broke in try 6-8psi and see how they do.
They do much better now after the cut. we usually run them at about 3-4 psi. They still suck, but now they suck less lol.
Wat u using for tweeters upfront
pair of Skar audio as well, unsure of what model they are. they were previously installed when we got the Jeep
Are these sum what weather proof?
not really sure, they have gotten a little wet, and muddy, and still working good, but they definitely arent marine grade or anything
Will this fit as perfectly in a 2013 Sahara?
i do believe so! this was listed 07-17 if i recall correctly
Very nice video. I am looking at this tent as well, the Gen2 though. I appreciate it if you can share how much weight your vehicle's roof can support. I am worried about if my Atlas can hold it. We are a family of 4. Thanks!
i am pretty sure the sequoia is rated for 250lbs in motion, 500lb static. i actually ended up building a rack on our car hauler and putting the tent on that. its still working great
hey thanks for sharing this man, gonna need to set myself a set of these. I just picked up a 98 Jeep TJ and cant believe how much I am falling in love with it already. I did just post a video on my channel about it if your interested in having a look
Hell yeah that's awesome, good luck with your build!
This is Sawyer I just found y'alls channel. Miss y'all and hope you're doing well. One day I'll have my new taco ready to ride with yall!
Hey man, We're doing good! Hell yeah! bring the Taco out, we love Toyotas.
I actually came here for inspiration on cutting my RC tires lol. Sick rock rings btw!
They basically look like RC tires now haha 😂 they do alot better with the cut. Thanks!
@@SketchyJeeps this video was made a while ago, how are you liking these now they are worn alot more
@@jeeplivion they have done a whole lot better, aired down to about 5-7 PSI, they are still a hard compound, but they hook up way better than before. It's a trail rig only so they still look about the same as in the video as far as treadwear. She gets them smoking good on the rocks to get them sticky.
Awesome!
It really is, great product!
What kind of electrical upgrades do you have done, Alternator, battery, wiring.?
Stock alternator, X2 Power AGM battery, and the usual amp install kit. Nothing out of the ordinary. Does good even with the winch and lights.
@@SketchyJeeps do you think I can run this setup stock 2013 jk I don’t have any other lights and I’d would be willing to take the speakers out of the setups and go with just subs but the speakers probably don’t do to much
Love the videos guys! like how you keep it real!
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
What psi are you running in those 40 TSL's?
With the Beadlocks we run 5 or less.
What psi were you running in those TSL's?
Pretty sure they were around 15 or so. They are a super stiff compound and didn't flex very good. We ended up cutting them up to get some better traction, did beadlocks, now we run them at about 3-5 PSI. They do much better...but the SX2 is just too hard of a compound to be useful.
What was the total cost? Thinking of installing some subs myself
The box goes for around $160 now, the amp is around $200, and the subwoofers are right at $100 each. So you're looking at just under $600 once you get an amp install kit. Everything is available on Amazon
Thats wasn't a grizzly bear. They are black bears. We have no Grizzlies in california
Interesting I didn't realize the grizzly was extinct in California. Well then It wasn't a grizzly, but it sure was a brown bear. Either way it was a cool experience
Very cool experience. Scary that she had a cub. And its always fun on the rubicon trail. I was lucky enough to play music for the jamboree a couple times
@@james420james1 absolutely! That's awesome. We love the Rubicon, this was our 2nd trip and it was awesome. Well definitely be back. It's a long trek from South Carolina though haha
Awesome video! I was there at gulches for veterans day too testing out my new JKU
Nice! Thank you. I'm starting to get used to the the long wheelbase...doesn't feel like I'm wheeling a schoolbus anymore 😂

Awesome video! I had no idea I was THAT sideways on escalator lmao!
I told you bro 🤣 thank you. Can't wait to get back again
How does the sub sound with it not being ported?
They hit really well, I actually prefer non ported boxes alot of times.
Love that trail.....made it without winching or breaking. Here is a video of me on the exit. ruclips.net/video/EHaFlP3ONds/видео.html
That's awesome! It's definitely my favorite trail we have done in Moab. Can't wait to get back
Jesus those things are brand new. I’m a stihl guy myself but to each their own.
They only had a few trips on them haha. But they hook up way better now that they are cut, let's the tire flex much more. I don't really have a preference on most tools, whatever works for a good price is a win for me. But Stihl is definitely quality stuff, no argument here.
@@SketchyJeeps awesome bud! Keep up the good content & good footage.
@@SassyMudTruckDegenerateDumbFk thank you! We really appreciate the kind words.
What front coils are you running ??
Metalcloak 6" coils.
I remember y’all.
Hopefully that's a good thing hahaha
@@SketchyJeeps yes. It was awesome watching you wheel. We are going back this weekend
@@CrawlerNation she was sending it hard! it was a good time. Have fun! we love gulches it's a blast.
Definitely want to order this asap, like the look and weight savings. When mounting the recovery points, how'd you get the nuts on the bolts inside frame? Tight squeeze without the recovery point
There's enough room in the frame rails to slide a wrench in and hold on, it's a tight fit but definitely doable
Debating throwing subs in mine but curious how it sounds with no top or doors because I don’t want to waste the time or money if it sounds bad
I have the doors and top off as much as possible and it sounds great. Obviously you lose some of the sound quality but its still good
bro do u know how powerful subs and an amp can be? lol top off doors off and everything you’d still be bumping hard as hell it’ll make it that much more fun
I have a rear seat recline kit installed in my jku. Do you think that sub box would still fit?
I think it would work fine! You can slide the sub box rearward a few inches, so I would imagine it would fit.
