The doctors don't know what Karen died from even after an autopsy? I feel the answer is very obvious......Karen died from a sever broken heart. She spent years trying to please everyone except herself and the toll on her emotions was too great for her to bear and slowly, unconsciously, she spiraled down.

Given Karen's flawless vocal control, why did they lip-sync so many of their "performances"? One feels cheated.

Phil Ramone is so right. Her voice is unbelievable, but without Richard's arrangements, it wouldn't have come through the way it did. Richard is a genius.

"An autopsy failed to determine the death of singer Karen Carpenter..." I.e., the remains of the poor woman were needlessly, criminally mutilated in the name of some perverse legal protocol.

You didn't disappoint with this interview. This song always meant a lot to me and how amazing you were able to speak with Don. He's so right about music today and the low intelligence (generally) of the music. American Pie is the perfect song about America and The Music. Yes, please do a blow by blow commentary of the lyrics.

I'm 61 , always loved the Carpenters music. Cried back then when I heard of Karen's death. Cried watching this documentary . Still listen to their music and love every one of their beautiful songs. Thank you both for adding such class and talent to the music we listen to.

You like to blow your mind with interesting music. Dive into Peruvian Jazz. 6/8ths with cajon, and very, very warm, beautifully-resolving melodies. I was blown away. Flor De La Canela Is a classic song made into sweet, sweet jazz. Then you have Marinera, which is kind of shared with Bolivia and Chile (ceacheí!), and Andean Cajamarca music, which reminds me of Chinese music (I believe there's an influence somewhere). I discovered all tonight. And then, there's Peruvian Waltz. That's🤯

Listening to this I just get such a weird vibe from Richard. Such a load of anger and bristling. It feels like she was being put on an awkward situation by his ego all the time and having to pander to his feelings, and the way they knocked her back for seeking her own life. I dunno, just get a weird vibe from him. But certainly a great talent she was. Must have been a bit odd at times having such a close relationship with your sibling at an age when a lot of people your age would have been meeting partners, getting married, starting new stages of their lives. Her drumming skills were incredible too.

In a world of "Experts" who garner info from a computer instead of real life experience, You can believe Linda Perry about just how rare in terms of compassion, tone & quality K C's voice is in a world full of singers. Linda Perry has decades of experience in the music industry none of which came from a computer, But from touring with 4 non blonds and producing records for world famous singers.

She had such a beautiful voice. She didn't need to be a sexpot. To me she was beautiful just the way she was. Her singing voice is heavenly. There is another aspect to her talent is that she was an accomplished drummer and she beat out Led Zeppelin drummer John Bahnam and Ringo Star to be the number one drummer in the world. Although she was a star she didn't have the look.
