Not Doing it Anymore- And Neither Should You- A Table Talk
We desperately need to do the same thing on our property, being overrun by the woods. This looks really nice.
They did a good job. Could never make myself do it because of the money involved. With the storm damage cleanup the time was right. It has become a blessing during a trying time and hopefully will add to our production. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Hi Mr butler I’m Sara from school I’m subscribed to you hope you have a great time!❤😊

Hey Mr. Butler, so one of your students Emma she forgot her trapper keeper at school over the weekend and her homework for your classes in there and she’s freaking out because she forgot it so her mom called me wanting to know if I could get it so we can get it this weekendso I was wondering if she could finish it in class first period or survey elective
Thanks for the update, looking good. What a terrifying storm that must have been.
I've always liked to watch storms but after riding that one out outside, I don't have to do that again. Thanks for watching.
BUTLER IM AIDEN DELOACH, HIIII

Hi Mr Butler it’s Elmore twins
@@Lizzybeliever hello
@@jamesbutler6623 ur so fun I wish I was in ur class ur a wonderful teacher 😊
Thank God you are all OK! 🙏
He is the only reason we are. I love storms. Have always gone outside on the porch to watch them, even as a child. This has changed my mind after being caught in the shop when everything was coming down. I have thanked Him many times over the last few days. Trees can be replanted and damage can be repaired, but He brought us all through safe and healthy. Thank you Jesus. Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching.
Good shit brother. Grow what ya can, and keep what ya can’t eat. Preservation is golden 🤘
Trying to put up everything I can, especially with food prices and all that is happening in the world. Not scared, just prepared. I'm going to try to do a canning series next year if I can get my camera people to cooperate. Thanks for watching
Great video! Thanks as always for the shoutout! I will say, we generally don’t see men canning on RUclips, which is a great inspiration for young men to learn to can. Keep on teaching those future generations! 👏
If I don't, trust me it won't be canned. I seem to be the only one with an interest haha.
How’s the fruit looking
Blueberries did well this year and get better each year as the bushes get more age on them. Strawberries did ok, they'll really take off next year. The rest of my stuff is still too young and will take a few more years to start producing. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much! I’m proud of all that you are doing! Keep it up! 👍
You are welcome and thank you.
Great video, you have your priorities right. Your place looks really nice. We are having problems in the garden here in Pa., but we are grateful for whatever we can put up or give away too. I came over from Harmon after she recommended your channel, glad I did. Enjoy your vacation.
What an awesome complement. Thank you so much. Since I am going on vacation I was able to give a large box of tomatoes to an elderly lady across the street that wanted and needed them. I think gardening and raising food makes one more appreciative of what they can produce and what we can help others with. Harmon homestead is wonderful. I really enjoy her videos. Very informative. Again, thank you for the complement and thanks for watching.
Are those heirloom tomato's? They look absolutely yummy ~ nice job Bravo
They are. I do sometimes grow hybrids, but try to stick mostly with the heirlooms. They are good fresh and are really good when it gets cold in chili or vegetable soup. Thanks for the complement and thank you for watching.
Right on man
Thanks and thank you for watching.
So now what, they all go bad? I eat like one tomato every two weeks
No, nothing goes bad here if we can help it. This time of year we eat 8-10 a week fresh either as tomato sandwiches (a southern delicacy) or sliced with salt and pepper as a side. All the rest are frozen whole to be able to use later in soups etc. or canned for long term storage. The amount coming in can be overwhelming at times though. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
They may just surprise you. I've had butternut squash look like they were going to not do a thing and suddenly they just blow up. Even in drier years and most of mine have been volunteers.
I am hoping that is the case. As you may have seen in some of the videos, I have winter squash in several areas and admittedly some of them are poor at best, but as of now I don't have fruit setting on any of them. Just planted some more in the in ground garden too. Thanks for the advice and thank you for watching.
Great content! Keep it up! 👍
Thanks for watching.
I have found landscape fabric is a godsend at retaining moisture in soil. Its acts like a layer of good dirt. Reusable yes.. i reuse mine and i think its about 10 years and its like new(full shade) HEAT. Get Electrolyte drinks. Canadian Here. Heat used to KILL my energy. Now i can go for hours and hours without flagging. A Water Backpack with a ice Pack Backpack helps ALLOT! Drawstring bag with a 1 foot square ice pack. It stays in the mid back area and cools your core. The water backpack helps remind you to drink LOTS! Based on your schedule.... IF you can. Go to sleep Waaayyy earlier and wake up to sleep at night
Cooling towl. Put that dang thing over your head. Wet your hat!
Thank you for the suggestions. I will have to try some of these especially the ice pack idea. Thanks for watching.
Why is the American flag backwards on your hat??? If you want any kind of sympathy start by not desecrating our flag.
It’s not desecrating. It’s lit just the camera on the phone 💀 it’s a known thing that the front of the phone cameras flip the image
Bro front phone cameras are mirrored 😂
😂
I see what you're talking about. I went back and checked and looked at the hat and looking at it from the front, it runs left to right with the field of stars in the upper left corner. Just a mirror image from the camera I guess. Thanks for watching.
What is the due in the morning like? Is there a way to build screens to trap the due and water the crops? With high heat and high humidity it’s work for 15 minutes and rests for 30 minutes.
We normally have heavy dew here, but the logistics of capturing it on a garden my size would be prohibitive. I am trying to figure out some kind of water catchment system to take advantage of the wet times. Still in the wishing and daydreaming stage right now. There is a chance of rain each afternoon for the rest of the week and we are praying for that to happen. The 15:30 rule is used extensively here during this time of year. As I've gotten older, the 30 part has gotten a little longer HAHA. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Wassup me butler it’s Caden from your 3rd period in the 2023-2024 semester
Great video, its tragic how few if any basic life skills kids are taught. Your students are fortunate to have a teacher such as yourself. I learned so much from my parents and grandparents, especially common sense. Look forward to the canning videos. Thanks
Thank you for the kind words. It just hit me that if people were willing to watch my channel, I have a unique opportunity to share more than just gardening skills and videos. There is so much more to being less dependent and more self-sufficient. Again, thank you for the encouragement and thank you for watching.
Very nice
Thank you. The exciting part is the big rush is coming. I literally wait on that time all year. Thanks for watching.
I'm in central Alabama, and my blackberries are going crazy! I'm picking about a solo cup full a day and can't get them all
What an awesome "problem" to have. We grow almost all our vegetables and I'm trying to add more and more fruit every year to do the same there to be even more self-sufficient. Thanks for watching.
I'm new here. Central Alabama as well. I'm experimenting with buckets and containers as well. My peppers are beginning to come in earlier than usual as well. I like the buckets because I can monitor the heat levels and I can move them if I need to.
Exactly. And it seems to cut down on pest pressure rather than them being in the ground. The peppers love the heat so that's why I always plant a bunch in buckets too. Thanks for watching and being here and good growing.
You’re right…it’s all about maximizing space. I knew I wanted to grow lots of potatoes, but didn’t want to devote a lot of garden space to that one crop-so we grow half of our potatoes in buckets on a gravel driveway.
I have learned if I want to grow something bad enough, I will find a place somewhere, somehow. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

Trying to grow as much as possible as quick as possible. The prices aren't getting better anytime soon. Thanks for watching.
Coming over from Harmon Homestead at her recommendation…looking forward to seeing what you’ve got growing in the garden..
Welcome to Butler farms and thank you.
Looks wonderful!
That you so much and thank you for watching.
Great info, have alot of containers we can put to use. Came over from Harmon Homestead
With grocery prices the way they are, if it can hold soil, I'm putting a seed in it. HaHa. Glad you are here and isn't Harmon Homestead great? Wonderful ideas in every video. Thank you for watching.
@@jamesbutler6623 Going to try squash/pumpkins in containers. Yes I enjoy watching Harmon Homestead videos, great channel. Looking forward to your videos as well.
@@pjm8183 Praying for much success in growing. Welcome and thank you.
Our cilantro we planted from seed in April is already bolting. These herbs give us fits too!
Herbs may very well be the end of me.
Thank you so much for the shoutout! If we can inspire anyone to grow, we’ve reached our goal. 💪
As I said in the short, when I see good ideas and good channels, I am going to share them. My goal is to get people growing their own food confidently and you consistently give them great ideas.
