    Yeah thanks for this. I had a pair in a silver face twin that I use with my Fender Rhodes. Took my speaker jack cable and plugged into both a custom 100 hiwatt and the plexi. Extremely surprised with the results. I think it’s a keeper.

    Thanks for this comparison! I have a couple of Orange cabs, which are loaded with Vintage 30’s from the factory. Orange amps tend to get a little fizzy with the gain up and I really didn’t want to go with a equalizer pedal as I’m a signal chain minimalist and prefer to run my guitar directly into an amp without adding any background noise at all. I live only 12 miles from the Eminence plant and have been looking real hard at the Cannabis Rex to add clarity and also tame the ultra high fizzyness a little. Your test confirmed what I suspected and I’ll be looking to add a couple of C-Rex speakers soon. Thanks again for taking the time to help us out! 🤘

    i have a question. i have a standard 61 and the string spacing seems really wide compared to my 2004 les paul. But that Les Paul has a nashville bridge. Is the string spacing on the 2002 and 2020 standards any tighter than the 61 abr1 bridge?

    Both sound great. I find that the G12-65 tames a bit of the raspiness in the high end on a JCM 800, which is helpful. I don't like Greenbacks as much with an 800. The combination of Plexi + Greenback, however, is a sound that is imprinted in our musical brains. They go together so well.

      Yes. It certainly has an effect but I intentionally made this test on low volume so that we can hear more of the speaker-tone instead of the cab. I should redo this one though for more accuracy.

    If you enjoy playing metal or breakdown, you will like 2002 standard with higher power, thick and heavy, and better bass. If you like vintage rock, you will like 64 or 61 low-power, small and sharp.It depends on what music you play, what sound you need, and there is no real sense of good or bad.

    • @Guitar_Magic
      @Guitar_Magic 4 месяца назад

      More or less correct altough there are common preferable attributes like a balanced natural EQ curve, a responsive and percussive low-end & acceptable sustain and so on. The material gotta be good to begin with, then comes the pickup and hardware adjustments + the other tiny pieces of the puzzle.

    • @9iii460
      @9iii460 4 месяца назад

      @@Guitar_Magic I feel conflicted and have no choice. I like to play heavy rock like post hardcore or lighter post rock. I hope the guitar can have a thick and full, aggressive sound and a sweet clean sound. So I should prefer a high-power SG STD guitar with a pickup, but I would prefer a guitar like the 1964 SG that clearly has better wood and sound details, even if it may not be suitable for the music I want to play.

  • @9iii460
    @9iii460 4 месяца назад

    Also ensure that the height of the pickup is exactly the same as the relative height of the two pickups. Because their influence is really too great, I often adjust them to get completely different sounds.

      I'm biased because I'm a Marshall guy so the "plexi" tonal-DNA is my benchmark. With that said the Honey Bee is the most fun amp I've ever played. It felt like Christmas to dig into some power chords and heavy riffs on the Honey Bee. Holy shit, what an amp!

    Not a great sound TBH ImHo, very shrill, my Gibson standard 1986 sounds better and CS 58 , 2002 sound far better, it looks good but when it comes to sounds it just doesn’t have the presence of any Gibson I have owned IMHO just like all the Gibson versus Greco videos

    • @Guitar_Magic
      @Guitar_Magic 4 месяца назад

      I have to disagree. Firstly, this is not a comparison video therefore you have no base of justification. I uploaded comparisons of this guitar against various R8 and R9 models and it held its own pretty well (sayin this as a huge vintage and CS Gibson fan). This guitar is just a hell of a good LP. from a n era when Gibson was in deep sh*t. It's true that Gibsons have more presence in general (South-Central vs African Khaya mahogany) but not always. This one had more bite than the majority MIJ LPs. It was a great specimen.

    How are people sitting beside this amp cranked on RUclips?! I get mine to six, no break up, and ears are already starting to ring. I just ordered a tone king attenuator so I can actually hear the tubes without blowing out my ears.

    • @Guitar_Magic

      Gotta get used to it. I can sit in front of a 100 watt JMP with no attenuator, the pickups will squeal earlier before I run. I wouldn't recommend that shock-therapy though.

    The 2019 sounds better IMO . The PAF's in the 2019's have better clarity . The 1993 is good but a lil muddy compared to the 2019 . I have a 2016 R9 and a 2019 60th 1959 and it's the same . When Curly and Cesar took over in 2019 they were trying their best to bring Gibson back . The factory line early 2019 Gibson's are great guitars . I own an Explorer and V from Early 2019 and they are great . But sadly the recent factory line stuff has not been so good . Gibson is back to having QC issues . The Custom Shop stuff has been decent and the Murphy Lab stuff seems to hold up . The "Good Wood " Era is made up . And the wood has little to do with the tone of a solid body electric . It's 95% about the electronics and hardware . IMO all that is meaningless . Find a guitar you love and enjoy it . And if you create music , CREATE ! The focus is too much on gear these days , we need MUSIC !

    • @Guitar_Magic
      @Guitar_Magic 5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, the PAF has better clarity compared to the 498T & 490R. 'Good wood era' originally pointed to the period when Gibson returned from the laminate Norlin era construction to the classic 1-piece body & 1-piece neck building style then sellers started to use the phrase for something different. I can't agree with you about wood and its effect on tone. I owned probably more than 300 Les Pauls and I've never ever been able to transform one's sound into another with a pickup change, not a single time. Wood has a tremendous effect on amplified tone (neck stability & density, neck joint, body density, the porousness of the fretboard, etc, etc.)

    The 2002 is definitely better sounding than the 2020. The 61 is better than both the standards. The best one is definitely the 64. I've owned the 61 and 2020 standard. They were great, but I after I bought the Custom Shop 64 I never played them again.

    Ultimately, no significant difference an amp with a dynamic equalizer can't achieve, much less the mfr. justify these retarded rip-off prices for speakers using literal 70 year old manufacturing technology and materials. *They're still building speakers for literally 5 to $8 a piece but the markups for what you get are highway robbery and for all the simps, I actually went to college for the science of electrical/electronics engineering, literally the most advanced field of science on the face of the earth, so don't waste your "breath".*

    Most places I have seen suggest equal or greater wattage to the power of the amp speaker, so is a 25 watt Greenback suitable for the 50 watt amp in this test? Wouldn't something like the Creamback 65 watt or Neo Creamback 60 watt, be a better choice?

    • @Guitar_Magic
      @Guitar_Magic 3 месяца назад

      True, but I made the test by miking up one of the Greenbacks in my 412 and than replaced it with the V30 and the Eminence. So there was a 100w cab under the cranked Marshall.
