"Fire and Rain" - James Taylor cover and tutorial
Just got a rogue river 14... its heavy ! Think I might be able to do your technique with my car. Looking forward to fishing some lochs here in Scotland.. thx
Thank you. Altho it took you a long time to get to the sounds of the MFDs, you finally did and you didn't mask the tonality with overdone overdrive!
Love your playing. You’ve got a great variety of songs and throw a bit of yourself into each. My last name also happens to be BUCY for whatever that means. Met a buddy of yours from Bridgeport, IL. Pheas hunting and guitar playing you got to be OK.
Je trouve le vélo très joli mais en même temps assez curieux , je parle des plaques du dérailleur arrière vissées au cadre du vélo, la dessus vient en plus le rack arrière sur la même visse que la plaque 😮 étrange 😮
The guitar intro alone is worth watching. Can't get my 224-ce koa to sound near that cool....might not be the guitar's fault.
Killer version, Russ!
I see you that you reversed the pod plate and then reversed the volume and tone knobs. I like.
Beautiful version! We are getting ready to discuss this song on our A-Z John Hiatt podcast and glad we found your video to share. Please let us know if you'd like to add your thoughts on this classic to our episode.
Thank you so very much. Perfect 😊
Thank you. I've just bought a double kayak and had to have a couple of other people help load it onto my car. Bringing it home, I managed to get it off the car myself. Afterwards I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get the kayak on and off the car by myself, however after watching this video (and a couple of others) I feel more confident. Thanks, I'm going to practice tomorrow!
Very good
Thank you, Russ! Beautiful interpretation. I’ll struggle with it! Kind regards, Chris from Hillsborough, NC.
Thank you. I’ve wanted to play this song for such a long time but couldn’t find the way. A lovely rendition and played so simply. Thank you.
Why do people show case guitars then have backing tracks.
How did you set up your amp setup to make it sound that good? Some reverb? What electronics are you using?
Love it! Great cover of one of my favourite ever songs.
Great video
What a great guitar player and Human Being! We had a great time at the jam.
Honestly, a pretty strong rendition of this very fun, can't miss song. If the lead guitar had been miked a little more aggressively, it would be well nigh perfect.
Russ do you still own that guitar???
He didn't own it, he was simply demo'ing it for the music store: "Guitarworks" in Greenwood Indiana. He even stated in this video that this very guitar was available for sale. But you can bet it wasn't available for long.
Russ is at Fairfax Inn tonight for the Jam 9/5/2023. First time seeing him. Sounds great and just can't wait!
Beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I've never been particularly impressed with Taylor's on board systems in the past, never finding them natural sounding (I used to own a 214ce DLX, and sold it), but this sounds fantastic.
Have enjoyed this Taylor Acoustic ( unplugged ) for 2 years but never enjoyed the sound of the Expression 2 System. Finally installed a Fishman Rare Earth Soundhole Pick Up and love it even more.
Very simple solution and great idea to tie a cord to your wheel to solve the sliding issue.
Useful to see. Am 81 years old with a trigger finger that needs repairing, but I DO have a new[to me] 12 foot that i am challenged with. Am going out to get my boat of the car!
I just got this Santa Fe tsf 48c , I have Taylors 710 324 , Martins dc16ce and Larivee D3 this taka performs really well, compared for the price! Really beautiful Guitar with rosewood body and stika top and all the inlay on the fret board. The binding is beautiful too! Hey what's the chord progression? Thanks for the review!!!!
Wolf call ?😂
Nice and practical video!!! Congratulations!!! You are lucky to have a soft carpet of grass underneath!!! What happens if there's a hard paving (asphalt, concrete etc)???
Wow, that rope trick is absolutely brilliant!. Thank you for sharing.
Está canção é muito linda. Uma bela interpretação. Parabéns
I have this guitar and it had to have a neck reset. I bought it used from someone who apparently kept it in a very humid environment for a year. The action was WAY too high. The tech who fixed it had to order a $50 shim neck reset kit from Taylor. The action know is playable and the setup is perfect. I wish we could post photos on RUclips because it's the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen and now it plays great.
Love the mini-humbucker.
I know that really the dog was trying to supervise!! Fabulous hound too! That was such a simple and easy way to do this task, making sure not to rush. I liked it a lot and you talked the audience through so cleanly. Thank you so much. Much appreciated. Pam
hello, beautiful performance, could you post a tab for the chord part?
Another option to the mat you're using is to get one of those 2 inch thick tri folding exercise mats. Offers great protection. You probably don't even need a rack.
Great tip with the rope to wheel hubs.
Nice playing
Hey man, thank you so much for this video, this is exactly what I was looking for. Every other video uses special equipment that I don’t and can’t have right now. Thanks again!
Hi there, Love your set up. Can you tell me which kickstand and which fender set you are using? Thanks!
RUSSSSSSS !!!!!~ sounding great !!
I just bought a 2022 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50's with P90's. I've been watching videos of this guitar while patiently waiting for it to arrive. Listening to these demos makes me wonder why Gibson ever stopped the production of P90 guitars between 1957 and 1968. Sure, humbuckers sound great but so do P90's.
Agree - excellent cover! I’m learning this song to play at my daughter’s wedding in May … would love the Tabs if available 🙏
Takamine number one
Nice helpful video. Thanks
Would like to see a video of differences in 224CE-K vs 314ce
There is a difference in their nut widths. 224CE-K has a 1.68 nut width. The 314CE has a 1.75.
224 all the way. It opens up at about the 2 year mark. The tone is amazing. Stays true in low humidity areas like Colorado.
I have both, and I would honestly choose my 224 Koa over the 314. I just love the sound. Both are amazing guitars, though. It's just all in what tone you're looking for. The 224ce-K DLX is going to sound amazing, but it's unique. The 314 is solid wood and has that modern yet traditional sound. Both feel fantastic to play, you really can't go wrong with either.
Cool voice
Awesome 👏 👏 👏 👏
anywhere to get these tabs? this is by far the best rendition I have seen and this is my wife and I's song that we danced to at our wedding. Would love to learn it for our 10 year anniversary coming up.
Great job!! Love the sound of that Godin with the p90. Wish i knew how you got such great tone on everything?
awesome guitar. I have one, about to buy another to use for alternate tuning "live" situations. I gigged with mine 7 days a week in 2021 and plan on doing the same in spring/summer/fall 2022.
Hi! Is there much difference between this Santa Fe edition, and Takamine's P5NC? They look very similar, similar if not same woods, same preamp, same body shape, all same except fancy decorations on Santa Fe ...
@@zvonimirtosic6171 I have only demoed the P5NC in a music store but to my ear it had less bass response & not quite as fat a sound as my Santa Fe. The Santa Fe does have higher quality tuning pegs, bridge, Mother of pearl inlays etc. & I put higher quality frets on mine. But the woods are similar. Nothing wrong with the P5NC & it’s a great guitar as well. I just happened to like the sound & playability of the Santa Fe more. All the best.
Right on. I professionally gigged all over east/central Florida from 1990 through 2002. During that time, I purchased 3 different hi-end Japanese Takamine's for the very same reason: I had each one tuned differently, 1 tuned standard while the other 2 were in different alternate tunings. 2 were the NEX body's exactly like the one in this video, with one being the Santa Fe model w/cedar top & mahogany back/sides, w/turquoise inlays that came out in '90 or '91, the other was the LTD '98 with sitka spruce top, with back & sides made of Palisandro wood from the Rio Grande. It even sported ( gold ) height adjustable tuners. I would almost kill to have that one back in my possession now. The 3rd one was a full dreadnought with spruce top & rosewood back/sides, but I can't recall the model number. All 3 had the onboard electronics that blew any Fishman or LLBaggs system clean out of the water when plugged in. Many of the other working guitarists in my area agree'd. I eventually bought a hi-end Taylor I really liked as well, but I still loved my Takamine's more, especially for stage performances. I "retired" because I grew tired of the club scene. Later on, I was forced to sell all 4 of my guitars ( and everything else of value ) in order to save our home during that awful recession that hit Florida the earliest, hardest, and lasted longer than in any other state. I am now 62 yrs old, I don't miss the club scene, but I sure miss the music......and my Takamine's. SIGH..............
