Hi, I’m Evan! Dirt bikes and off-road racing have been dreams of mine since I was a little kid, but life took me a different direction. Finally in my late 20’s I was able to start living those childhood dreams. I bought my first dirt bike at age 29, a blown up and clapped out 1998 KX 250. It took me a year to rebuild and restore that bike, and as some would say “the rest is history!” I have a true love for trail riding and hare scramble racing. Mid East Racing | Wilson Memorial (Airport) 2024 | Vet-C
Mid East Racing visits Hickory NC for the Wilson Memorial (Airport) race. This is the last race of the season and everyone was on their A game today. I got off to a great start and was 2nd into the woods. I tried to make a pass on the leader, but our bikes ended up getting tangled up and we both went down. I forgot to turn my camera on for the beginning of the race, so I didn't get the crash on film.
I had a great time this season. There were a lot of really great and fast guys in the Vet class this year. It was great getting to know some of you all, and I look forward to next season. Time to put in some work and see if we can have better finishes next year.

Mideast Racing visits the fairgrounds in Shelby NC for the Water Wheel Classic. It was a great day for racing with track conditions pretty dry and dusty. I made several major mistakes on the first and second lap, but was able to end out the day with a 7th place finish out of 23.

This is our second race here this season at Hillbilly Smash in Morganton NC. I don't care for this track that much so mentally I wasn't able to push like I needed to. I rode very conservative which lead to a 9th place finish out of 24 in my class. Be sure to hit the like button, leave a comment, and subscribe to the channel! @ season will start back in February. You should definitely come out and try one! But as far as single track goes, your best bet is going to be Brown Mountain OHV trails, and Brushy Mountain Motorsports park. You could also check out Lost Valley Motorsports park but they don’t have any single track from what I remember…4 wheeler wide trails.

great race, track was more slick than it looked and off camber roots everywhere. tough but fun
It was a tough one for sure! Track is starting to get beat up pretty good from racing it 2x’s a year. I don’t care for this place all that much so I mentally wasn’t in it. Hopefully Harris bridge will dry up enough from all this rain we’re getting hammered with. That place is slick as snot if it’s wet.
How did you like the course? I skipped hillbilly smash for an absolute dust fest this Sunday

@@Evan.Merritt077 Nice man! I am having rough time finding trails outside of the OHV. I run Parsons all the time. Love it.
@@TeknaTronik unfortunately there’s nothing in the upstate other than OHV. That’s one of the main reasons I race the Mideast series is to be able to ride/race private property that you normally can’t ride. Have you raced any or been to a Mideast event?

@@TeknaTronik lost valley Motorsport park and brushy mountain motorsports park are two more you need to check out. They are in NC though but worth the drive.

seems to me that this fella sandbagging the C class. if youre able to ride past that many riders in the same class you should have already moved up to B
I would get smoked in B class. My next three laps were clean and I still ran 2.5 minutes slower a lap than the top 5 guys in my class.
@@Evan.Merritt077i wouldn't have thought that there would be that much disparity in a single class that's kinda crazy
@@jacquesperry1156 our class is always super competitive and usually the top 3 guys are stupid fast. When I have a good clean race, I’m a top 5 guy, but will still be 30 seconds to 1 minute a lap slower than the top 3.
Just yell at the rider in front and win the race.

Good on you to stop, the best sort of racing camaraderie! Sub'd because that is sportsmanship and hells you were riding good. I know stopping for a downed rider is generally, often specifically, a rule but some people get caught up in racing and ride past and forget its about the community not some plastic trophy and more likely a claim to be 17th out of 50 or some such thing. Hope the guy is ok. Looks like a great course!

There will always be more races and bikes can be replaced, but a life can’t. All I could picture was someone flying through there and hitting him and seriously injuring the young fella. I sure do appreciate you watching the video and the steak offer!
