As a 10 year old boy, I snuck backstage to a Maestro Fresh Wes concert, one of my all time favourite rap icons. Wriggling my way under a bouncer’s arm with my Maestro cassette tape in hand, I caught up with the platinum record selling artist just as he was about to board his tour bus and introduced myself. Realizing I had snuck in, he laughed and happily signed the inside cover of my “Symphony in Effect” cassette, which would be thrown in the wash by my mom a few short weeks later.
