Why there are no good English Managers

In football we seem to see no good English managers so much so that England have appointed a German to lead the national team. So why are there no good English managers? Hopefully you enjoy this video and it gives you something to watch in the international break. The more syintehic version of atletico madrid was better but you can keep with your horrible club, horrible people and awful taste.
You'll never beat a proper crest.
This seems more like an argument in favour of historic more intricate designs rather than the minimalism more common in recent redesigns. This is particularly evident when the incredibly simplistic retro crests from Luton, Leeds and Newcastle are held in higher standing despite having more in common with the ‘clean template’ designs of the current era
Yeah fair enough. Perhaps there is a hint of nostalgia bias from both myself and many other fans.
@6:43 Stockport's badge is EXACTLY the same apart from they put a blue ring around it! Hardly simplfying it!
Yeah I phrased it very poorly. I was trying to highlight the common simplification of shoving them into circular badges and thinking it works.
@@ThatFootballCommentator That's a fair point
The main reason badges and logos are being simplified is due to screens sizes. Intricate badges and logos don't scale well on small screens like phones. Pixels are fixed sizes and you can only scale an image up or down so much before the it becomes a mess. A 50" 4K TV is approx 88 pixels per inch and an iPhone 16 is 460ppi. The badge or logo has to be clear and legible on both at the same size.
Look at badges from the 5th division and under in England, they absolutely suck, looking modern. And stick your "EST 2016" in your *****😊
Great video. This is a topic that bothered me
Cheers, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Hartlepool Utds old badge is much better than the newish one
Manchester Citys is one of the only badges to improve from the old design. But I understand why one would disagree
Another reason to love City
The new Sydney FC badge is 1000 times better than the old badge, but we have an almost reverse situation here in Australia - where as our original badge was dictated by football Australia & as soon as the club had the power to change it they did & we all love the current badge, but the old weird logo has a nostalgic feel of our early days.
Oh wow, interesting!
Fiorentina not Florentina
And I thought I’d finally made a video without any minor pronunciation errors! 😅
Am a fan of the old school badges there better then the new ones but like you say a NEW badge is or can be better Dortmond case and point.
Wtf are FLORENTINA? It's FIORENTINA
My accent clearly distributing my ability to say names! 😅
This is a very interesting video, keep posting videos like this I’m sure you will grow your channel
Thank you, hoping to keep this style of content up in the future.
Inter without Pirelli just doesn't seem right. Hate minimalism on crests. So much about being stuck on merchandise and crap.
Absolutely brilliant and highly interesting subject…. You should do a follow up one
Thanks. With so much to talk about a part 2 is definitely possible!
And then we have Forest, still using the badge introduced in 1974
If it ain’t broke, don’t try and fix it
Theirs is already in the modernist style, so no real reason to change. One color, no thick borders, infinitely recolorable, and reasonably minimal.
Fans hate it because they feel their feelings and loyalty are ignored. Not to mention there seems to be a systematic need to wipe away history in favour of creating a new one. Like Disney did with Star Wars when they made everything that had been written after ROTJ into Legends in order to make their own trilogy which as we all know didn't even eclipse the prequels.
The Leeds logo looks like a generic logo from efootball
Dont forget gakpo
Gakpo has been incredible this season! Slot often rotating his front 3 has kept him out of this team though
As a Derby fan would love to go back to the blue and white For a season or two . Come on Clowes
Blue and white Derby absolutely iconic!
Some of these old crests are horrendous tbf... Like that Roma wolf, the Leeds dick and the old Brentford
The circular badge has become a Canva template at this point
wasnt this a hitc video?
I don’t know if I’m honest. They do a very similar style of videos to myself so it’s definitely possible they have done a similar video in the past.
A lot will also be because they are cheaper to produce.
Good video m8 fr, you just earned a new subscriber. Keep making good vids!
Cheers, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the support!
7:07 we still have the history for maidenhead just changed the shape ● birds ● bridge ●river +founding date
6:42 it's the older one in a blue circle, not simplier
Yeah true, but the whole circle dynamic makes it seem simplified.
The new Man City badge is a redesign of the badge they used before the eagle design 😬
Yes you are correct (I mentioned this at 2:24 ). In fairness to them they are one of the original clubs to use the circular style badge in England.
It was also designed and voted for by city fans
Yea but they modernised that version on the badge and it looks ugly
Ajax going back to their old logo is also huge.
Can’t believe I forgot to mention it. It’s great news and going to be so exciting next season!
Stevenage has a brilliant badge. Keep those local crests with the history please!
I definitely prefer the stag in the new badge. Not a fan of the circle shape though…
How the hell r u only at 150 subs??? Underrated fr
Thank you, hopefully I will see the subscriber count rise soon!
How the hell r people not catching onto the weird amount of channels posting the same content with very low sub counts all being pushed in everyone’s recommended.
Dortmund feels like a weird example since the lion was only used for 2 years and the bvb one has been used for over a century
Yeah that’s very true. I’ve only just read the reason that 2yr crest even existed was because of a sponsorship deal with Samson. Poor example but hopefully the meaning behind it still stands.
Slop and soulless.
A very good way to describe them!
great vid bro
I appreciate it, thanks for watching!
Who was the last world class manager from England?
Top marks for exposing a truth…. Reading a pile of excuses, fact is not a single English born manager has ever won or even close to winning the EPL. It can only be they just aren’t that good, not good at all. The EPL is great because of paid footballing mercenaries not because anything intrinsically English in respect to quality of football. Yet the arrogance or the ‘entitlement’ of the majority of English fans and media is that league such as the Scottish Premier League is breathtaking
Nigel who???? You mean clough (as in offspring of the best England manager who never was, Brian Clough) pronounced cluff.
great video :)
Enzo Maresca at Chelsea is single-handedly destroying the "English coaches don't get chances" narrative. We all saw what Potter and Lampard did at Chelsea when they were given the chance.
Big Sam is a good manager but he's never really been given the chance, Bolton didn't have ambition for the champions league that's why he left and they was no reason for Everton to sack him he got them a top 8 finish after keeping them from relegation. With leeds he only had four games to save a club and with the england job the fa didn't give him a second chance and it was arguably a set up with the press being there.
The English play too much kick and run soccer. There is little attempt to control the tempo of the game which is essential for tactical excellence.
No mention of Kieran McKenna?
He’s Northern Irish. But a very good manager!
@@ThatFootballCommentator He was born in London, brought up in Northern Ireland, lived in England since age 16yrs.... destined for the very top
fair enough, certainly seen his skills with back to back promotion. Cannot be underestimated or under-looked.
The not wanted in Europe 😅
They are,nt good enough, facts, 😮😮
Yeah but why?
@bnk777 when was the ladt time n English manager won the PL, let,s start there
Let's face it, the average English footballer isn't very smart. Most abandon their formal education ata young age to pursue their football dream. Plus England's best were wiped out during two World Wars and there's been a lack of decent leadership since then. Look at our politicians. The native English are being replaced in politics by immigrants because they lack the balls, the fortitude, the ambition to lead.
Worst manager ever. We only win stuff because we have very good players but need a manager to match
Just look at Gareth Southgate, 2 out of 10 for me. Poor manager. Too defensive, parks the bus & hates trying to attack That’s our standard right at the top of the uk pyramid so imagine what happens below it A certificate doesn’t make you great. I talk to many managers across the board. Our managers have to be brave & think outside the box rather than copy pep guardiola. Also our football is dying as top level require athletes not ballers
Facts. Also, the reason that England reached to two euro finals back to back is due to luck and their good players. It wasn't due to Southgate's coaching.
I think the lack of coaching in the UK. Spain has a lot of Uefa licensed coaches. The cost in the UK and even Ireland is absolutely extortionate and is affecting the English and British game in general, sadly.
They dont exactly get a chance. Eddie Howe did, and took it with both hands. There was a time were we had plenty managers in the top flight who were English. Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan managed Newcastle at the top end of the league.
Oh God, this nonsense again... what did Potter and Lampard achieve with their "chances"? Howe, good as he may be, has Newcastle in mid-table.
