Bought a GDI last year, had alot of issues such as rust, idle, engine power and minor drivetrain and suspension issues. Fixed all of it over the time but even when most was not functioning properly this beast got me up any kind of terain and to this day it defeats many expensive off road vehichles. If you know this car it can be maintained and driven like any other it just isn't for those who are technicly handicaped or are afraid to get thier hands dirty. Love the car for the money for sure however i am building a new pajero GDI in wich i will swap the engine to gain power en lessen the maintenance yet still make use of the amazing 4x4 super select system.

Owned one for fifteen years from new, superb car very reliable, now completed 122k. Light bulbs go, as do track rod ends, otherwise absolutely bomb proof engine if looked after. Cam belt needs changing after ten years of 150k.

got the 2.0 diesel (no ad blue version) sinds 2014,...after 2 years empty the paricle filter, closed the egr valve and new programming,.....187 horse power on the weels!!! top speed from 192 on gps to 217 , acc from 8.9 to 7.7 sec , consumption reduced from 7.5/8 liters per 100 km to 5.5/7 liters ...7 liters is max in the winter with short distances , have now 248.000 km and no problems, every 10.000 km new oil and oil filter , 180.000 new belt, 1 pair of break discs front and 2 pairs of break pats..... the only big issue are the plastic lights with led daylight, they start getting misty and cost around 650 euro each .....

They are weak ass shits. Don’t buy one!!!

I bought a 2005 C5 2.0Hdi Exclusive in 2023 with 84k miles and one owner. Around £2000. Took it to Spain . It never missed a beat and returned 51.3 mpg. That suspension too ! Divine! Particularly after my troublesome experience with a 2016 DS5. The C5 is much better screwed together, even after nearly 20 years. No squeaks or rattles.

Abs warning lights, sensors and modules causing the car to go into limp mode is a problem. However I'm convinced once fixed by a professional many years of happy motoring lay ahead.

I think you're missing out on the infamous wet belt construction where the oil eats the belt causing cluttering and blocking by belt residue. These are not good engines at all in terms of reliability. Also Stellantis is one of the worse when it comes to warranty claims. I'm hoping that their latest iteration of their puretech engines with a drive-chain instead of a belt is going to do better in terms of reliability. When the engine works fine it is indeed a very nice unit to operate your car but the potential money-pit with regards to the universally failed wet belt thing is just not worth it.
