Love the content. Very helpful and well presented. But, if I may be so bold - you are pronouncing "debris" wrong. It drives me nuts. And I hear it all the time, so the times are changing I suppose. "Debris" is a French term, and is pronounced 'day-bree', the 's' is not pronounced. But the auto-speech apps got it wrong, and pronounce the 's' and everyone was off and running. Now I hear it all the time. {sigh} I think I'm the last of a dying breed who remembers the original French pronunciation.

I am not looking to install a floor now, I just always wondered what was the pros and cons of both ! And now I know ! Maybe a few year down the road I will install on the top floor of my home in Buffalo NY. House is actually 100 years old this year. Bottom floor is red Oak, narrow plank type. Top floor and stairs are old growth pine. It is beautiful and I had it revarnished but there is a lot of small gaps between some of the planks. Not crazy bad but a little bad. Do you know of any putty or silicone or such type product that can fill these gaps. Years ago I had a guy fill them, but it never looked very good and a lot of the pieces came out. I think it was a putty type filler. Maybe there is something new on the Market that is better. The old growth pine is Beautiful and someone told me that because it is old growth and those trees cut down in the early 1900's were really old trees versus the soft pine these days. That the old growth Pine is almost as hard as Oak. I am not sure, but it has beautiful close lines and rings in it. I would appreciate any information if you know a good filler product !! Oh god DO NOT BUY LAMINATE FLOORING FOR PETS

The most important thing for floor to be called 'pet-friendly' is that it has to be not slippery! If your dog or cat slips and falls, or gets painfull joint problems along the way from not having good grip on the floor constantly, then a floor with no scratches is worth nothing and is definitely not 'pet-friendly'.

It seems like it’s not just about what the flooring is, but the glue and binders used to make it long lasting. That’s my big concern with some of the bamboo flooring that I come across. I’m most interested in linoleum, but it seems hard to find.

Thanks - very helpful as I have to replace floors. One disagree - don't use nails to deal with squeaky floors - it will make them more squeaky. Use screws instead.
