This is a great video guys. As an 03 discovery owner I still daily mine. I want to do some mild suspensions mods and this answered a ton of questions. One quick question. Did you guys have to re-drill hole mounts for the extended bump stops or shape to fit? What was the issue with them?

He said r15. What rims are those? It clears the calipers? I thought 16 was the smallest?

Would extending the bump stops require a cert ?

Is it a wof fail to drill holes into your floor pan to mount a fire extinguisher?

Inspirational stuff lads.. I’ve loved a Disco 1 since forever, but if I buy a rig it needs to be a diesel. I live in a really remote part of nz 250kms away from the next major town. And we all know the Landy diesels are $$$. I’ve always thought a Disco would be perfect with a qd32 or a td27. Oh well. Until I own that Landy, I will have to settle for a terrano/mistral/petrol Touareg.

Nice to see you two back again. It would be good if you could elaborate more for people like me who don't know exactly what your using. Ie like when you used iso to clean the tow points and done grey paint. I presume primer? And what orange top coat you were using. Also show what you need to detach to show the flex. Cheers guys. I’m really enjoying this. It’s exactly what I’m planning on doing. 2 inch lift on 33’s. I have all the parts just not the time. I had no idea about the extended bump stops so I’ll get some of those. Thanks for sharing all this good info. I’ve never done any 4x4 stuff so I’m learning

For you guys who daily drive the discovery’s, how do you deal with the sun roof leaking. Unfortunately I’ve left mine a bit too late and it’s now UK winter so I can’t really afford to have the sunrooves out for very long to get the seals sorted

I've ran csts on my truck for a few years now I rate them highly. I ran razors on my other truck in the same size and the csts have out lasted them and are cheaper. Awesome build matt it was a good watch.

Wasn't aware of the rear diff breather being low as on my d2 the rear was already up near the rear tail light Also all I did for my d2 is a lift longer shocks sway bars removed and a front $700 locker second hand $500 2 inch lift $400 +2 shocks $700 for tires and $300 for a winch I personally wouldn't have sold the winch bar that's just me

Disco 2 is a great value for money. Here in the USA I can get a v8 D2 any day of the week for under $1k USD…that’s why I have 3…

Did you ever diagnose the axle knock? As others have said, would a transplant (like for like) not be simpler/cheaper than repairing it? Unless this motor has some good (and not buggar’d) bits?

What winch is in the race lux ? That jeep seemed to have a much faster winch ?

I'd love a detailed video on where to access a lot of these coast tracks as I'm sure a lot of people, myself included haven't got a clue aside from the obvious ones up by big river etc, they look like fun!

You should be able to find another cheap mang to drop in.

A rebuild?? Do kiwis not have the saying 'mang-mang till bang-bang!'? I know they're getting a bit older, but the appeal of those v6 commies has always been that they're cheap as chips and common as can be. It'll be good to see it back on the screen once you've fixed it though!

Love Basil……but…….. all these tracks used to be drivable in a standard factory 4x4 by locals before the big money, big wheels and heavy feet of the city club brigades started coming over. Just remember guys, every time you spin a wheel with a heavy foot you make it harder for everyone else. It might not seem like a big deal to someone that didn’t drive these tracks in the 1990s, but they’re a shadow of their former selves now for those of us just trying to get somewhere to go for a hunt. Even in the last 2 years I’ve seen massive deterioration of the main big river track; drove all the way in to the hut in 2wd in my factory bounty with a good line and a light foot when I first moved home; now I can’t even reach the Drake mine coz it’s been chewed out by lead footed wombles on 33’s. Love seeing ya’s out enjoying life, but please think of the track and those without big rigs. 🤜🏻🤛🏻 All that aside, great clip mate ❤️🇳🇿❤️

I live in Wellington and it annoys me to hell to hear of people talking of "the west coast" and meaning somewhere in the North Island.) 👍
