    So your refreshed UPS shows 178 hours run time however that doesn't include any load! I'm sure you are using it to keep something running during a power loss or until your backup power has taken over. I would suggest putting your normal load on it, plug in whatever is needed and then check your run time again. Good video obviously you got some good feedback!!! 😊

    Thanks for the video as this is a common problem that people either don't know about, or don't bother to fix. I had to drill out some of my inverted feeders as well. and it takes some trial and error to get the number and size of hole depending on what size feeder you have. I start off with two relatively small holes - like the 3 mm or 1/8 inch drill bit you used. They have to be drilled near the bottom of the plate (below the screw threads). If two holes is not enough, then try 4. If you start off with 6 and that is too many, you will have a leaky feeder. So starting with a smaller number of holes, and testing after putting in each successive hole, is good to do. Again, very much appreciate your posting this.

      I read this before ordering but decided id try because they are so cheap. I too had the same issue but took them apart and put them back together a seemingly random amount of times and one came back on. So i took them both back apart slowly and noticed that the board in the last part of the tracker was off of the two tabs that hold it in place. these are tiny little pin tabs that are easily overseen. I put it back on the tabs and walla. I then tried to replicate the issue with the board being mounted on the tabs correctly and it only wouldn't connect once. As of right now both are working fine and no speaker so I dont think its a software thing and rather there are tiny tiny parts and even the plastic parts need to be together perfectly as they hold little things on the board together. Just take it apart and put it back together until it works and leave it be. I dont think its possible for the software to stop this as there are two small metal pins that just send a little power to that metal disk (speaker). I dont see how it could sense that being there or not. Good luck. And if you are looking at these as an airtag replacement for Anti car theft id argue they are better since they dont have UWB. Thief's can not pinpoint them with latest IOS and seems you can take speaker out too so anyone with a bit of mechanical knowledge could put this somewhere no one would ever find.

    I was thinking of buying a new UPS mostly because they have battery indicators. But if they don't tell you if the batteries are near replacing, what good is the indicator? (It could be based on voltage which would not detect if the capacity had degraded to nothing.)

    • @mikeschilli1088
      @mikeschilli1088 3 месяца назад

      Detecting the remaining battery capacity is a hard problem, and I'd suspect any build-in indicators will only give you a rough estimate. The only way to verify is actually to unplug the unit and see how long it'll last.

    Always hook up ground first then the live wire red so Black then red.to prevent sparks this is the proper way to hook up batteries even car batteries

    • @mikeschilli1088
      @mikeschilli1088 7 месяцев назад

      Couple of things: The concept of a "live wire" only applies if one wire is neutral/grounded, like with a power outlet. Never operate on a hot power outlet at all, always remove the fuse beforehand or you could receive a fatal jolt. With a car battery, it's a different situation, because one part is connected to the chassis of the car. In this scenario, always hook up ground last (!), to avoid any shorts/sparks when tightening the positive terminal while touching some part of the chassis with the wrench. With a UPS system like in this video, which is disconnected from power while you're working on it (double check!), it does not matter if you're connecting the negative or positive battery terminal first. If there's a current spike when you connect (capacitors etc), you'll always get a spark, but it's benign because of the low battery voltage. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for the how-to! I have not purchased these yet, but want to asap. I need to know though..... Apple AirTags not only sound an alarm, they cause a pop up to show on iPhones, telling someone an unknown airtag is traveling with them. This is Apple's attempt to thwart "stalking", but it encourages THEFT! If someone steals my motorcycle or car, I do not want them getting a message TELLING THEM to look for the device!!!! Does the Eufy cause this???

    • @kassemcherkasy4066
      @kassemcherkasy4066 6 месяцев назад

      Eufy will also notify the thief, they all do. however by removing the speaker on the Eufy, it makes it much harder for the thief to locate and disable it. The issue with the Airtag is that even if you remove the speaker, the thief still has the option to use "precision finding" to locate it very easily. Out of all "Find My" compatible trackers, Airtag is the only one that has the "Precision finding" option. Hope that helps.

      I've got eufy trackers in our cars after recently having one stolen while we were sleeping, it took two weeks for it to be found, i feel a simple tracker would've spead it up a lot. removing speaker means i can hide it anywhere in the car, without the u1 chip no precise finding it would take a very long time to go through an entire car to fins it. its brilliant

    • @mikeschilli1088

      The batteries in the UPS are the same technology as the car/motorcycles variety, so leaving them uncharged for 2 years would discharge them to the point where it's hard to resuscitate them. Maybe take them out of the case to see if that's the case before you order replacement batteries?

      First preference would be to exchange the batteries for ones with the correct terminal type. If that's not an option, the second best would probably be to McGyver a spade shaped adapter from a short string of cable and a male crimp-type connector to attach to the screw-in connector on the battery.
