You lost me at 30:33. As a hunter, I am a consumer of the wildlife resource. Through license fees and excise taxes, I contribute to funding conservation. But I consider myself a hunter, thereby a consumer of wildlife, not a conserver of wildlife. "Woking" out a new word - "preservationists" and using it as a derogatory designation for antihunters and environmentalists and thereby staking a monopoly on conservation, is a short-sighted and foolish way to advocate for hunting. There are bills pending to eliminate PR excise tax on firearms and ammo, and these proposals are supported by several organizations representing hunters and gun owners. A significant number of hunters lack appreciation of the wildlife restoration act and buy into the propaganda of these organizations and elected officials sponsoring this legislation. It is also relevant and important to be aware that while some element of the hook and bullet crowd are fighting to stop paying into the program, other groups have been trying to buy influence in conservation decisions by lobbying Congress to expand wildlife excise tax to bird seed, bird houses, bird books, binoculars and spotting scopes. Imagine the political climate if guns and ammunition were no longer subject to excise tax and in their place, it was imposed on the above-mentioned goods. On a related note, bird watchers and anti-hunters have been advocating and lobbying, with some success, to redesign the art and art contest requirements for the federal duck stamp. They also have been promoting a narrative claiming that they purchase more duck stamps than hunters. Take some time and look this up...
