Not a lot is written about Walkersville Southern Railroad’s No. 8 in Walkersville, MD, but it’s our understanding that this little steam locomotive was built by the head of Walkersville’s carshop team. The frame is taken from an old Trackmobile, the tender is from a MOW speeder, and the boiler is from a stationary 1921 engine. The winch on the front is functional, and thus it is actually useful for clearing fallen trees off the line. If you’re lucky you might find the railroaders of Walkersville taking a joy ride on this little engine.
