I think waves would be the best option here, but if you're still not sure, adding a different gamemode, or perhaps a list of modifiers you can enable and disable at the start of a run could be a good fix. it's fully up to you, just keep in mind, adding gamemodes or modifiers does increase the scope of the project. either way I'm sure you've got this in the bag. good luck comrade :D
