However, it is not illegal to plant Japanese Knotweed on your land however if it was to encroach onto neighbouring land it would then be classed as nuisance encroachment. Also if you were to transplant this, you risk leaving some of the rhizome behind, this would then grow causing further infestation.

@japaneseknotweedexpertltd1975 the bank didn't ask or even mention anything about plans or treatment. Just saw the knotweed and turned down the application. Surely if the knotweed was present the surveyor would at least ask a question as to weather it was being treat or dealt with. He just saw it and point blank refused the mortage.
