How to reset the needle bearings on a Cannondale Lefty fork

Is your Lefty fork a little shorter? Has it lost some travel? You may need to "reset your needle bearings." Don't ask me to explain it, I just know how to fix it.

She was finally just too big on her old bike and a new one became a necessity. Lex's comment was priceless! What cute kids!

If anyone needs maintenance on this fork (lefty speed) lookup Mendon Cyclesmith out of Ionia New York
PBR models are a little different. Letting air out at the bottom, pushing down on the bars is a kinder, gentler way...
Just curious.....what is the advantage of this type of front suspension over a traditional fork ? Seems this set up would be weaker.....anyone......forgive my ignorance......
Works better than expected
Why you have to do this? Whats the reason? Seems very weird to me to slam the under part down like this....doesnt that treatment destroy the bearings and fork?
steer tube diameter lefty max? 1.5" or 1.56"
Are you looking to install a lefty
Normally Lefty's have 1.5 Steerer tube...you can adapt a 1 1/8 Tube with reducers to fit in the Lefty and then you are able to fit the Fork in normal MTB Frames
Cool to see my same bike F2 29er (same color scheme and tires too)
I wish I still had it. I broke the frame a few years back.
A friend destroyed the bearings doing this
3:10 ... and my bearings exploded.. now i need a tutorial on how to change them... certainly barbaric
awesome .. were did you start from
How often do you have to do this?
Hi there, I have problem with my Cannondale Jekyll 2000. I hope you can show me how to fix it. - Some wrong with the fork (it 's moving up and down not smooth!) so what I have to fix? what kind the fluid I have put in the fork? - Shimano XTR left hand side is very hard, I can not shift to change the big sprocket (has 3 sprockets). If I pull the cable (from middle) I can she the thing move, but I could not able move the thing, from the level! Please show me how to fix them. I appreciated. my email quoctrangchuotbeo4@gmail.com Regards, Quoc Doan
On the left you might need a new front derailer or wire
Rarely. I went there once in the summer and the Mosquitos ate me alive! I hate Mosquitos like nothing else. Haven't been back.
Love the trails down there, also if you get some rubbing alcohol and wipe the rotors, it will stop the squeak.
Thanks for the tip. I traded those out for Shimano XTs - no problems since. Love the XTs!
Awesome! what did you have on before?
Formula K24 brakes. I could never get them to shut up!
IngyFam Haha! It gets super annoying, doesn't it? Do you ride AF canyon much?
Cheers mate. Took me only a few minutes to do mine this way, no measuring required.
The supplement manual for your fork will tell you in millimeters how long your fork should extend. I have a 2010 carbon SL 26inch and the manual states it should be around 695 millimeters plus or minus 5 millimeters. Download the manual for this fork and follow it for the correct measurement. The new models 13 and up are nice because you don't have to take the fork apart at all to reset the bearings and no fork boot to get damaged.
thank you for posting. Cool video. Good way to celebrate a birthday.
Sweetness...
Nice riding! I love the Crest!
Without the Deliverance issue, winks!
Great trail , done it like 10 times...
great video thanks for doing this dude
great video!
Awesome !
Nice ride down to Mill D from that fork in the road showing at about :34 on this shot. Next time I'm gonna take the right path and take it all the way in like you folks did. Hopefully BEFORE we get nailed with snow this year.
hey this looks familiar is this on the park city mountain? near the town lift or around the mountain resort area?
Nice riding man, that must have been a fun ride up. =)
